Mogul skiing is a freestyle skiing competition consisting of one timed run of free skiing on a steep, heavily moguled course, stressing technical turns, aerial maneuvers and speed. Internationally, the sport is contested at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, and at the Winter Olympic Games.

Moguls are a series of bumps on a piste formed when skiers push snow into mounds as they do sharp turns. This tends to happen naturally as skiers use the slope but they can also be constructed artificially. Once formed, a naturally occurring mogul tends to grow as skiers follow similar paths around it, further deepening the surrounding grooves known as troughs. Since skiing tends to be a series of linked turns, moguls form together to create a bump field.

The term "mogul" is from the Bavarian/Austrian German word Mugel, meaning "mound, hillock".

Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for a fast moving start!

Dogged, I hope you feel better soon. No.ad sou ds beautiful! When we adopted Matilda, we were advised about the 3-3-3 rule to help understand a cat's adjustment period: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to start settling in, and 3 months to feel completely at home. Of course,.its only.a.guideline, and Matilda being Matilda.broke.all the rules and decided the very first evening that on our bed was the place she wanted to sleep! Yesterday's Poirot was "The Big Four" - not my favourite as IMHO the denouement is a little weak, but still enjoyable. :D

Bama, thank you for explaining tomato gravy!

Today DH is off to the office as usual. The forecast is for rain (it's still dark, so I haven't looked to see if it's raining ATM), so I need to concentrate on indoor jobs. Top of the list for today fill in form to critique Curate S's sermon, scan and send to her.

I also need to unpack the wicker basket with all the Christmas storage tins that DH bought down from the loft for me yesterday, and set it up in the kitchen. I need to put the Christmas cake and gingerbread men away, and also bring down the boxes of biscuits (sweet and savoury) I've bought, and which are currently sitting in the bedroom! Can I also take advantage of DH being out of the house and wrap his stocking presents? ( I know my shoe box for the Y is more urgent, but I can do that while he's around). And there's the start of month banking to do - I'll tackle that when DH has left for work and I can be uninterrupted. And I really.need.to change the sheets on the spare room bed before BIL descends later this month. I do *not* want to be doing that at the last minute!

Thank you for starting us off, trissie.

Thanks, Kittykatt. I already feel much better after a few hours of sleep. Now that Germane and I have had snacks, I think that I'm ready to head back to bed.
My db is very patient with his pets. He was very surprised at how quickly Nomad is coming out from hiding to check him out. He's not ready to come right up to my db yet, but he had only been there a few hours when I talked to him.
Any Christie is good Christie, but I agree that The Big Four is not in my list of favourites. Right now, I'm relistening to The Secret Of Chimneys. It's fun to read back to back with Seven Dials, as you have so many of the same characters.
Germane is mugging for treats again, and since it's just canned dog food that she's asking for, why not? I was worried that she was losing weight when she got all funny about eating her regular food, so it's a relief to see her enthusiastic again.
Critiquing someone's sermon sounds like a very hard job. I hope it was a good one, as critiquing a bad one sounds twice as hard! Christmas prep would be a welcome respite from that.
Good luck with it all. Germane has just done another pee (treat #4 in the short time that I've been up) so I'll dish out treats, clean up after her, and head back to bed.

Sleep well, Dogged! It sounds as though Nomad is settling just fine, and your DBro is very experienced.

I will confess I'm putting off the sermon critiquing as the WiFi at church yesterday was down, so there's no recording of the service I can refer to, I'll just have to do it from memory. A lot of the form is just " tick whichever box is appropriate" , it's the free text that takes the time, and I always like to begin and end with something positive, and ensure any criticisms are still kind. Fortunately, Curate S is already giving much higher quality sermons that Curate A did at the same stage of training. :D

I think it's really great that your curate is asking for sermon critiques, Kitty! It shows a certain level of confidence plus a desire to improve/ reach others. Doing it from memory sounds more difficult. I bet you'll give extremely helpful critiques though. I always include positives + things to improve for writing students - on the comment section of their rubric.
Aw, Nomad sounds beautiful and we will enjoy hearing updates here, Doggedly. Glad you're feeling better.
I hope you're having a good day at payroll, trissie. Dh + kids enjoy skiing moguls. Me - nope.

It is 16*F (-8.9C) outside right now. 🧊 The sun is trying to get through the clouds.

It's back to work today. I never got the list in the notebook, so I'll do that first thing this morning. I have payroll today - prep and then teaching this afternoon. Progress on Memorial cards, a walk, perhaps some grocery shopping would all be good today as well. And some laundry? I'm done with my mom's stuff. Dinner will be lentil soup + rice and a salad.

Now we see you... and now we don't, Smile*Lee!
I think you would enjoy skiing, helia, but I know you enjoy the quiet time when everybody is out much more!
I know you will write the critique in a nice and positive way, kittykatt!
I'm glad your DBro and his new kitty are getting along well, Dogged! Is he a cat person when you are a dog person?
hi L.Ann! Garlic lime chicken seems to be your favourite, right?

4:30 and I am finally home. I remember, back when I started this job, I used to be home at 3:10 every day! Those were the days    (also, I now make significantly more, like... almost triple what I started at, so I can't really complain). So many plans and so little time...
