Happy December PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Happy December! Here we are at the holidays with the beginning of the new year in only 31 short (winter) days! Yes, the days are long but the years are short, aren't they?

What do you need to attend to today? House and home? Holidays? Rest and Relaxation after a busy holiday weekend? Or return to Normal (capital N type of normal, you know :D )

Whatever it is that's happening, we're a nosy bunch here in the village and want to know what our friends are doing!

Hi Twins' Mom! Thanks for starting off the day and the month for all of us!!

I have 2 stitching groups to go to today.

All clean laundry is away. I need to empty the dishwasher. No idea what is for supper tonight.

The sun is shining! Dh wants to use his truck today, so we will be removing my car from the garage. The snow blower needs to be moved first.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good morning! Thanks, Twins, for turning on the lights!

Cathy, we have no sun here -- completely overcast -- but we're not expected to have any snow, either, till late this evening, so the sun might peek through.

Hi, blessed!

My usual routine of watching the previous evening's late night shows during breakfast is broken up today because John Oliver has ended his season. So I am here, nibbling on a delicious oatmeal quick bread that DH makes -- I wish I could share it with you.

We were able to squeeze getting a tree between DH's practice with the Scouts and our dinner and carols with friends. A nice white pine (yay! soft and cuddly), and for far less than we'd expected. They had a gadget to shake the tree to get any loose needles out, and then they wrapped it so tight we were able to bring it home inside the van, which meant we could take the highway home, which meant the entire excursion was under an hour.

The night caroling was lovely. Apparently, it was a tradition in my dfriend's family to sing carols on a Sunday evening in Advent (maybe all of them, I didn't quite catch it), and she continued it with her kids, and now that she's pretty much an empty nester (they've got one daughter at home, but she's never actually home), she decided to invite friends. We didn't go out caroling, just sang together in the living room after having a lovely dinner of two kinds of soup (baked potato and broccoli cheddar).

I need to go rouse DC again. We need to leave in about an hour, and I need to leave extra time to scrape off the car (though it looks pretty clear from here) and probably fill the tires (the front tires lose air whenever it gets cold). Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning

I am pausing to check on SHE friends (yes, I am one of the nosy ones that want to know what DSHE friends are doing) and to update my pathway spreadsheet.

We didn't have any problems getting back into dual school routine this morning. Well.....one minor problem - this was the first time since buying the Odessey that I had to deal with icy windshield. I had to hunt to find the buttons to push to deice the front and back windows. I opened the console expecting to see ice scraper only to discover that it apparently didn't make the transfer from previous vehicle. Argh! DD14 and I sat there discussing our options while staring at icy windshield. I turned window wipers on to scrape the ice as best as they could and it didn't take long for the hot defroster air to melt the ice enough to start driving while peeking through a cleared hole. Thankfully we don't have traffic to deal with so I just needed to see enough to keep it in between the ditches. By the time we got a mile from the house the windshield was mostly deiced.
Note to self....this was a dumb. Do better. Make a plan for these types of days. Get an ice scraper today. Use the remote start tomorrow 5 minutes before needing to leave.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

LadyM… you can use the edges of a credit or library card to scrap your windows. Ask me how I know 🤣

LadyM, I've used a credit card to scrape enough so I could see out a windshield when I couldn't find a scraper. (I see RR and I have the same degree of inventiveness and disorganization. )

I've not done much this a.m. - wondering if I should workout today, I'm stuffy still and draining. I know if I ask the owner/trainer will tell me not to. I talked to dd for awhile - she can work at home one day a week now that she's been in the job awhile. So we talked about NYC plans and other stuff.

Dh has finally gone bowling. He had a dr appointment this a.m. and then came back through.

I think I'm not going to workout - still stuffy and draining. I hate it since I only got in one workout last week because of the holiday.

I worked on getting documents together yesterday for the DAR application. I need to get them organized, be sure I have them all, and do the citations on the application and check everything.
