Morning all. Brrr I have heard of polar bear swim. It would be definitely work here digging through the ice first. I'll keep my warm bath.

As for put stuff away properly dh is way better than me too. I can organize and then not long after it's messy again.

That's great the fees are covered Bama. A relief I'm sure.

Well my day just got a little bit easier. I had been trying to get a massage and hair cut etc. Well they both ended up one after another today. That's fine and it was going to work cause bible study was going to be out that way as well. All of us leaders except me were not able to come and then a ended up getting sick. Where it was going to be. We decided to cancel bible study. So now I have a free morning. 12 is massage. 1 is hair. 230 pick up mom and bring her home. I'll miss the ladies but we don't want anyone else sick.

I need a few things from the store. Figure out more Christmas stuff. See if ds wants to help with the Christmas tree. I could do that this morning too. Or tonight.

Priority list

Basic routines

Well, if given the choice between winter swimming and turkey bowling, I'd definitely go for the turkey!

Home, finally. Ran some errands on the way, and I've taken DBD for her scout session, and hopefully DH will pick up DS and drive him there and pick up DBD (they have back to back sessions this year). There's some difficult stuff going on in my wider family which threw me off the loop yesterday, so no progress was made on holiday baking or holiday shopping front, but at least I tackled laundry, so there's that!

Waving to kittykatt, Dogged, Bama, helia, L.Ann and lauralind! And Peaches!

TaDas
- morning madness
- day at work
- shopping - DBD's nameday gift, data SIM cards (for twins), specialty pens for DBD
- charity drop-off
- pick up DBD from school
- drive DBD to scout session
- drop off recyclings
- unload DW

ToDos
- morning routine
- clean kitchen
- deliver yesterday's laundry

Good morning, all. Yes, it is still morning here. I am up betimes because I was planning to go to Costco to stock up on coffee. But I just did a comparison of online prices, and my two favourite current brands, store brands for two chains, are still less expensive than Costco's, so I will save myself a venture into chaos. Costco does have a much better price on the wipes that I use to clean up after Germane, so that's worth remembering. In the meantime, I have plenty of food in the apartment so I'm happy to put off shopping.

You know, Kittykatt, I think that I might benefit from the advice in that video, LOL.
We have winter swims here too. We call them "Polar Bear Swims" and they are usually to raise money for charity, I think. I can't speak from experience, because you, ew cold.

Bama, I have the same urge as your DH, to fill up empty spaces. Organizers suggest putting a decoration in those places like a vase of flowers. Or perhaps a picture frame with the word NO!
Oh, that is genius, Kittykatt. Uno Reverse the "Where is..."

I'm trying to make sense of the weather report. It's pretty chilly now, with moderate wind. Later in the day, the temperature will make it above freezing but the wind will be twice as strong. At this point, the windchill is about -10. When the wind will be stronger, the wind chill changes to an asterisk. I'm trying to work out whether that means that twice the wind will mean no wind chill, or if it means that we will be blown off the face of the planet. It doesn't seem strong enough for that. The predicted wind is 40 km/hour. 80 doesn't affect me, but has blown Germane off the sidewalk. Luckily, I keep her on a short leash so she dosn't go far. I'm leaning toward taking Germane out earlier rather than later.

I'm also debating about replacing my plastic containers with glass ones. Canadian Tire has good sales on the glass ones right now. I expect they would be healthier, as my plastic ones definitely show damage from having been used in the microwave. But I keep them on the top shelf, and glass would be a lot heavier, and therefore less safe, to reach down. I'm curious about what you all use and think about it. Currently I have all Rubbermaid and the same type so they all fit inside one another and save space, which is also attractive.

helia, a polar bear plunge would be bad enough, but in one of the Great Lakes that never warm up? I can't imagine it, LOL.
L.Ann, at least those polar bear plunges are for a good cause.

I am up to the end of Page 1. I'll go and make breakfast and be back.

Sorry about the missed bible study, Lauralind. Your neck is going to be nice and flexible for whatever the hairdresser wants it to do, right after your massage.

Hi, Peaches

I hope that DH can do the pick up/drop off for scounts, trissie.

I had a ridiculously loaded bowl for breakfast. I started with my usual frozen vegetables, but went for a couple of fancy bags with asparagus and bell peppers etc. Added my rice from the fridge and some of Germane's slow cooker vegetables and the hot sauce that came with the jollof rice. After I warmed it all up, I realized that the avocados are ripe, so cut one of those on top. Add lemon juice and soy sauce, and it didn't feel like leftovers. It felt like luxury.

I started asking him to find something I needed that was in the cupboard somewhere. That had the desired effect, and in the next few days another shelf and some storage baskets appeared. DH then spent a very productive couple of hours sorting through everything and grouping like with like, as I had requested.
Brilliant, Kittykatt. Won’t work on my dh as I’ve asked for something and he won’t even bother looking for long amounts of time. He used to put tax papers in a safe place until he finally aggravated himself enough when he couldn’t find them. Now he hands most things to me and says “I gave it to you”. I say most things bc sometimes he does just toss stuff into his black hole still. I could go on and on lol.

I will brag just a little on dh though. Since I’ve cleaned up my closet, the bathroom, and am working through the bedroom, he did get frustrated enough to pull a box out of his closet (that blocked access into his closet so he’s been tossing things on top) and leave it on the bathroom floor in my way. That’s not the brag though, just me going off track. He did pull out half of the clothes hanging and fill a donate bag. It’s a start. ⭐️

Helia, good luck on getting a walk today and the scale going back down. My brothers were all very neat and tidy so dh caught me off guard. Dhs home was actually nice and organized until we married. I was suckered! :P

LAnn, it’s nice that the plunges help with financing organizations in need.

Laura, enjoy your free morning and self care.

Hi Peaches.

Trissie, I’m opting for the third activity, hoping it’s drink hot chocolate and read a good book or something similar.

Dogged, so far the cleared space has been floor where I need to walk so he doesn’t get off the hook just yet. He does fill the kitchen table too but it spreads all the way across. The only thing that might stop him is barbed wire or an electric cattle prod.
Sweet Germane, needs weights but then probably wouldn’t be able to walk, thank goodness the leash is short as we don’t need her flying about the city. I’m glad you get to stay home.
We have to do a mix of plastics and glass. Glass is preferred and it’s about all I use. Dh takes lunch to work in divided containers. We tried glass but he breaks them so he has to use plastic. Practicality always wins out. Maybe try glass while on sale but retain plastic ware while seeing if glass is doable?

Bama, my third activity choice would probably be something like online ordering gifts, so... yeah. It's gonna be bad for some time yet!
Dogged, the crowds at the store signal that it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so I get it!

DH did indeed get home in time to do the second and third drive, yay!

- clean kitchen

Getting those clothes into a donate bag is a big win, Bama, and I should be following your DH's good example. I'm not exactly sure why, but my wardrobe rack feels like it's taking up more space and is in my way when I'm trying to get to the back of that area. A good clear out of those clothes would let me push it against the wall and out of my way. That's the carrot. The stick is that I pay $6.00/load to do laundry, and would not donate them without washing them first. But still, I can make a start and work toward that goal.

Hi, Peaches.

You know it, trissie. Costco is always a madhouse and ours is on a main shopping street, so by the last week of November it takes patience to crawl along. And I believe that they have lanes closed for construction. Unfortunately, Canadian Tire is in the same area as the Costco, so while Canadian Tire itself is not a zoo the trip will require a certain attitude.
Back in the days before online shopping, I used to get a coffee in the shopping centre and then just sit and watch the shoppers. Schadenfreude, I guess.

I carefully reviewed the options for the glass containers, read the reviews, and bought a 8-Outlet Power Bar with 6-ft Cord, Circuit Breaker and Lighted Switch. I have a set of glass mixing bowls, some of which have covers. I think that I'll try using them for a while to see how I find it.
