I put on four layers including 2 head coverings to get my 10 laps done. It is 37F, windy with no sunshine. It is NOT my favorite type of weather. The next 9 days forecast show sunshine, so I am looking forward to those.

Next up—tackling DD14’s mattress replacement. Her new mattress arrived in the mail this morning and has been expanding ever since. It’s pretty amazing how they can shrink-wrap such a large mattress to fit into a box smaller than me. Anyway, time to get started on this project—the sooner we begin, the sooner we’re done.

I have emptied 3 cans of leaves in the plant cage.
Refilled them with leaves they are in the carport now.
Resting a bit and listening to the howling of the wind outside.
It got up to 50* & sunny so I needed to take advantage of the dry day today.
My mood is better that helps.
There are parades today near by but I'm not going out for them.
Had dinner & did up my dishes.

Might be enjoying some next-flicks and winding up more yarns this evening.

I know it must be a beautiful view, sitting there at the riverside restaurant, Twins. I’m glad you have a quiet night ahead of you!
Dmom and I used to laugh about my dad needing a “play date” all the time, because he always had to invite someone along when they did anything, but I believe TwinsDad has him beat!

My main chores are done, except sheets are still in the dryer and I haven’t done any work on Christmas cards.
Dgs and I are watching GA and AL and of course, we’re happy right now because GA leads 14-0.

LOL, Lucylee, that's great! He really does like to have people around him. I was figuring that if neighbors came over tonight for drinks and snacks, that gave me leverage to do nothing tomorrow! I joke about dropping him off at daycare for husbands so he'll have someone to play with, lol.

Ha ha! I know my mom would have loved to have had husband-daycare for ddad! OTOH, she says he always told her she would make a good hermit. I've told y'all before, I know, but ddad was the oldest of three and their house was always full of family and friends. And it may have something to do with the age of his parents -- his were barely 18 and 19 when he was born, while dmom's parents were 30 and 34 when she was born. She was an only child, and always had a group of girls that she was close friends with, but her parents probably ran a tighter ship or something, valued quiet time at home more.

My dh and I would both have made good hermits.

Well, Georgia has won the SEC championship, and I have made some progress on the Christmas cards. I'm over halfway finished, but I like to take a break after doing a few, so my hand doesn't start cramping. I'm signing "Lucy and family" this year, because one of the pictures in my collage photo is a picture of all of us -- DS, ddil, dgrands, and me. I normally only put a picture of the dgrands in it.
I need to put the clean sheets on the bed.

3 young gentlemen in white shirts came to my door at dusk;
the dog went off ~ I just looked out the window and shook my head no.
I had just put on my pj pants. Probably morman missionaries from out of the area
that did not know about the lite parade.

Glad I could be here for some more music time and to rest after a pretty busy day.
Getting up so early because of the wind too.

Ramblin', you are so caring and so smart to think of wise ideas. Glad the trip to the nurse turned out to give such good results. I hope at times you are able to get out and do the very active exercise and classes you enjoy.

This is such a small thing - please forgive the trivial problem, I just feel down about it.
HRH got a contact - like through fb or something - from a family member he hasn't heard from in ages, didn't know how to contact. A young man who now has little children that have never been introduced to us. We don't know the children's names - still don't. I myself haven't seen him since he was a teen. We were honestly delighted to hear out of the blue. HRH called almost immediately. After an initial couple sentences of "how are you" but not seeming to listen, the fellow gets right to the point, and he wants something from us. Not money, but a huge favor that would, frankly, be something you would only do for your closest family, not someone who hasn't said hello in years. The call had nothing to do with the season, or catching up. HRH was bewildered and disappointed. I feel down for him.

Two presents for the grands have arrived, but each of them is incomplete without another that hasn't arrived yet. lol. Something may come Monday. I won't have any time any other day of the week except Wednesday, really, so wrapping is probably pushed out a while. That's something to think about. It is true that I'm early-ish this year, but I'm also limited otherwise.

HRH wanted to put off the trip to pharmacy, so we stayed in on this wet day. Sigh. I think we should get things done when we have time, but. Tomorrow afternoon I will really push for Errand Day, and I think he'll be open to it because he couldn't get several things in the grocery order today.

LadyM, I guess it is time, isn't it, to be choosing a planner if we want one for 2026. For some reason, I'm behind in that area this year. The planner thread here shows me that I was super interested last year.

lucylee, please do let us know if you make some ornaments from the fabrics. Sounds fun and meaningful. DgdC was enjoying identifying which might be men's shirt or possibly men's pajama fabrics in the quilt she helped me take down. They can be quite interesting, timeless.

((Harriet & HRH))) -- That IS odd, isn't it, that relative would choose you/HRH to make this request at this time. I am thinking this is more than "pick me up at the airport" type request also. I can understand you feeling down about it, but you know... when people have been absent for decades and then suddenly show up making odd requests of your time and resources... I'd feel the same way you two do.

Well, y'all, I don't think I will have clean sheets on the bed tonight. I kept putting it off and putting it off, watching ballgames... (BTW -- my joy at Georgia's win has dissipated because now AU is losing a basketball game to Arizona, 76-50. Arizona IS the #2 team in the nation and we are #20, so I guess this is to be expected.)
Anyway -- now -- I just went in to tell him I had completed the crossword puzzle in Friday's paper, and I found him sound asleep on MY bed, still in his sweatpants and t-shirt, lying on the bare mattress pad.
He and dgd both LOVE my mattress pad. It is like their parents' -- very puffy and thick and somewhat cool to the touch.

My stomach has been stirred up more than usual today -- I think I'm going to take another dose of Imodium and call it a night. One night sleeping on the bare mattress pad won't hurt. Maybe I’ll go to his bed!

Re: ornaments -- I'm not super creative here, I was thinking of possibly getting the clear balls you can put stuff in and just putting some ribbons cut from the shirts in there. OR the little frames that you can put a circle of fabric in. I might just cut ribbons of fabric and tie bows. But I haven't looked at Pintrest yet, so something might grab my attention when I get into that. I did buy a hot glue gun so I am "prepared" to be crafty, LOL.
I might ask my new "bestie" -- Chat GTP. I can really see how people get caught up in that, and I am not even using the voice version. Mr. Chat and I just "text."

I am supposed to be asleep. I guess my nap today was too much. HRH went to bed early because his eye was bothering him, so without his input I stayed up too late.

He now says that tomorrow afternoon he wants to add a little shopping for the one other child we usually buy for. He just heard from the mother and has the verdict of, pretty much, dinosaurs and some cartoon characters, but a little bit niche, and he isn't finding anything online.

blessed, good job thinking of the small things, too, stuffing stockings, etc. I ordered my traditional small funny/practical gifts for my two oldest - bandaids. This year, round baseballs for ds and soccer balls for dd, to go with each household's likeliest boo-boos.

Oops, now this reminds me that dbil never got back to us about our niece's gift preferences. Sigh. He couldn't think of a THING when he was here, either. Come on, now, Dad!
