Moment by Moment Monday

Post by Twins' Mom »

I must feel good about this self who is always within me. I do not want to look back with regret at what might have been had I used my time wisely. Planning is my tool to prevent time from sweeping away my dreams. I have to live my life moment by moment, one day at a time. How I choose to use those moments make my life special and unique. Time is my ally. Together we will shape the future. - Pam Young and Peggy Jones

live my life moment by moment
Twins - Thank you for this great reminder from P&P. The more I try to do this, the better my life becomes. It reminds me of the old saying about taking care of our pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves.

I'm running ahead again today. Yesterday was my highest score ever in my game of ME vs ME card count. I know in the ebb and flow of life that I won't stay on the top of my game, but it is nice when it happens.

My 3 things to get done today are...
** Pay water bill. The only bill that we have to hand write a check each month. Our little town will probably never get auto pay.
** Christmas decorations - get the tubs out and at least look at the contents. DS17 said I got rid of our 20 year old tree. I faintly remember being in declutter mode. Once I open the tubs and verify that we don't have a tree then I'll make a decision about getting a new Christmas tree....or not.
** Make a double batch of enchiladas

My days are changing….

Sweetie can no longer shower or do his morning routines like brushing his teeth or getting dressed by himself. It’s like living with a 3.5 year old in an adult body. Night routines are like that too.

Yesterday my son cam over to help get my Cmastree and decoration down from the attic. He also helped me set up an air tag for Sweetie to carry in his pocket. He also changed the water filter in my refrigerator

When my son get home he sent me a texted saying how proud he was of me for the care of Sweetie and again reminded me he’s here to help me any way he can.

Went to class, came home and spent time with Sweeties morning routines. Had to help him shave his neck front and back. He has a full beard and keeps it short. If he can’t remember how to trim it I will take him to a barber to do it.

I’ve made breakfast for the two of us. I now have to prepare all his meals.

After my next cup of coffee I’m gonna start on my Christmas decorations

Btw… I make a barley casserole with mushrooms. My mom’ s recipe. I make it a couple of times during the winter

This week I read some thing to the effect of
take of your of the minutes and the years take care of themselves
so similar to LM 's quote.

I was up on time. Doing my writing stuff and some cleaning had bfast.
Just remembered forgot my qt sigh / notes are done from the writer's planning workshop yesterday
that took a chunk of time I got good stuff from it! Glad I did it.

Took out the trash.
Working on the dining table getting it cleared off.
Did some in the sewing zone so I can do a stash n dash if needed !
Yep it's needed some on is coming by for donations this morning.

Sweep kit. dining & hall x
start duds x
got dressed the rest of the way.
Dump Trash x
prayer journaling x

Later;
knit a bit ->
crochet a few rows ->

did dishes
switched duds to dryer.
checked mail raining now.
No package might be on ups delivery route later on.

Today is broken up for me, not sure I can get much done in between. Hearing aid and hearing check at 10, workout at two. A couple of errands in between.

We'll have soup for our supper, and add a grilled cheese sandwich. Easy.

Three things to try to do in between all else...
-disassemble item that needs to go back to home depot
-return at mall (I now have another return but it goes to staples, in another direction - my lotion from A river came without the pump)
-HOA receipts, paid bills for Nov. Ck to bank statement (which is reconciled :D ) and file.

Dh is going to walk ddog this a.m., I'll get steps today because it's my workout and I'll try to do two laps with her this afternoon.

Harriet, my dh is also reticent about asking anyone in a store. Maybe it feels weak to them to ask for help?

Forgot to post this earlier.

I'm home (obviously) having brunch. Hearing aids adjusted (yes, a little more hearing loss but mainly in one ear). I had time to walk around Costco a minute (didn't buy anything) and then stopped at mall and took care of the return. Bought a small menorah pin for dd. I have one already but thought she might like it.

In a little more than an hour I need to be leaving for workout.

Rose, I'm so sorry his illness is progressing so quickly. My soup was beef, mushroom and barley - actually a mushroom/barley recipe with meat added to it. I reduced the barley slightly to make up for the volume of the meat.

(((Rose)))

I was up early. I cleaned all 3 cat boxes and did both of the garbage cans. I also got all 4 bags of litter out of the truck and put them away. I cleaned the coffee maker but dh still had grounds in the bottom of his coffee this morning.

I knew I could get all of that done because I knew I would be sitting for 2 hours at the Monday morning fibre group.

It's cold here today, but not really windy. Thankfully it is sunny out after a few days of being overcast.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.

(((RR & Sweetie))) does he have some good days?

I've accomplished the 3 things for today. Six out of 8 weekly cards for Monday are done with the other two in progress. 4 out of 5 homeschool assignments are completed and checked. I'm waiting on DS17 to finish the final assignment for today so I can check it then homeschool will be done.

We do not have a Christmas tree. With kids still in the house I think we probably should have one, but I have no enthusiasm in finding one. I think I will put the teens in charge of finding a tree. I like the idea of them picking out a tree they like. Maybe they should each get a tree with the understanding that they will take it with them when they leave home? Hum....I'm starting to like this idea.

((((d rose and sweetie)))) so hard!
is he on any blood pressure meds - heart meds - I ask bc d mom's had to be adapted (lowered) and that helped her cognitively. speak to your dr. it doesn't hurt to ask. she was on metropolil 200 a day and is now on 50 - made a big difference. - she is also on valsartan, and we have a med that is used if her bp goes over 160.
I hope this can help.
((((d rose and d sweetie))) I know it takes a long time to help our loved ones get dressed, etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if this helps to know this:
mom after med change
She still needs to be dressed- but is now helping some of the time- she needs us to get her dressed and washed up--brush her teeth-for a while she couldn't spit out the toothpaste or water but after med change it was better. - sometimes we have to and sometimes she wants to - we give her a washcloth and ask her wash this this and that. - she needs help re: feeding (before the change in meds she couldn't feed herself or use a straw) she has to have food put in front of her, plus her 500 calorie boost and water put in front of her (she knows if she is thirsty but can't do the follow through to get it) - she couldn't use a straw for a while before the med change. meds are crushed into applesauce

bathroom - we have to help her - she is getting the idea again of wiping herself (for now) but we have to do everything else. \
med change helped, (we have a shower that is being put in for handicapped)

we have to take her out bc her brain needs interaction otherwise she goes down hill. dd's lift her and put her in the front seat.
