Rich tea is a type of sweet biscuit; the ingredients generally include wheat flour, sugar, vegetable oil and malt extract. Originally called Tea Biscuits, they were developed in the 19th century in Yorkshire, England for the upper classes as a light snack between full-course meals. One of the best-selling biscuits in the British Isles, the biscuit is also popular in Malta and Cyprus. The plain flavour and consistency of rich tea make them particularly suitable for dunking in tea and coffee.

McVitie's has used the brand name "Rich Tea" since 1891 and remains the most well-known manufacturer in the UK. Since 2000, most major supermarkets sell an own-brand version of the biscuits.

They are also sold as a finger variety and, as Rich Tea Creams, a long thin rectangular version with vanilla cream sandwiched between two biscuits (made by Fox's). The Morning Coffee biscuit is rectangular rather than round but is similar to the rich tea.

In 2011 Prince William chose a groom's cake for his wedding reception made from 1,700 McVitie's rich tea biscuits and 17 kilograms (37 lb) of chocolate.

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!

What a scary adventure you had, Dogged! But Germane looks beautiful after her visit to the groomers.

Laura, Dogged is right, and now is the time to be kind to yourself. Also, do remember why shops were invented! I need to provide 2 dozen mince pies for the church carol service, and instead of stressing about making them and whether they will turn out "perfect" I'm just ordering them from Waitrose instead. They're on offer ATM, which further soothed any lingering feelings of guilt.

KitKat, DPup is definitely developing her social skills - WTG!

Church this morning z then Jude has her weight check, then, hopefully someone is coming to fix the spring on the hinge of the dining table leaf. DH will be covering for me and answering the door if I get delayed at the vet. Then, this evening, Waitrose will be delivering, and I need to think of something for supper!

I’m gaining so much weight from this week’s topic! That groom’s cake sounds scrumptious.
Lovely to put a face to a name with Germane. What a scare for you Dogged. I’m thankful everyone is safe and at home now.
Posting a list so I can edit overnight as I think of things and have nowhere to put them. Maybe I’ll be more productive when I wake and have my “second morning” appearance here. It’s worth a try.

Dogged ~ omg... Germane is adorable! A little bundle of huggableness. Okay.. that's probably not a word.

L.Ann ~ I should think more about the "walking inside" thing at home rather than thinking I have to go to the gym to walk on the treadmill - or the mall. I've got a T-Tapp walking program somewhere.

It's a home day with hunkering down to finish online Xmas shopping, which means ---- *drum roll* ---- I am staying in comfy clothes ALL day! Townhouse & NC house need some more decisions - lighting & tub. Maybe I can knock out most of those today - or at least investigate enough to get an idea for what I want before going to the stores. Tomorrow, I might go to a couple of lighting stores to look around.

Thanks doggedly and kittykat. I suppose I honestly could Saturday if I wanted to just buy the buns for the banquet... that's the easy part I know that recipe in my head. Lots of rising time and I can do other things between. And I'm sure if the piping bag fails they will look pretty in peanut butter cookie style too.

Music is coming into place... and last night I confirmed boarding for Casper. The lady I had help training with does boarding and ds was very happy with her. She has only 2 heated places in winter and a few unheated pens. That's fine for Casper he lives and breathes cold... she forgot his breed. . So she's very happy to have him. Yay. That means ds and ddil can just pop in and feed the cats every day and not have to worry about him.

Last thing of all... gifts. Always last thing of all. Maybe we should just get them Hh gift cards? Dd is aiming at kitchen reno? Ds wants to start with a bathroom? Hmm.

You all are my thinking out loud place Christmas is supposed to be happy time and I turn it into pure anxious .

I need to decide supper or just buy it tonight. Should get outta here right after supper for practice out at m &a place. 15 minutes out of town. But I'm just plain not going to rush this morning. I have lots of baking time Saturday while the buns bake.

kittykatt, I looked up the cake and oh boy, would DH love it! I may make him one for his birthday next year!
Dogged, what a day! There's a first for everything, but some firsts one would prefer to NOT experience at all!

I'm having... a day. I used my cold as an excuse to work from home today (I really did feel it might be getting worse and rather not social), which gave me that precious commute time and breaks to work on my house. Got groceries done as well, very early in the morning. But I did not finish everything that needs to be done today payroll-wise, so I will have to somehow find an hour or so tonight after kids go to bed.
Christmas is starting to get under control. But I desperately need some time home without the kids, which is just not happening. Most years, I have enough vacation days (I get 29 per year) to stop working around Dec19 and the kids go to school till Dec22 - this year, the kids are done with school next Friday (and that will be a half day), and I still have way too much to do that I may have to work on Dec 22 as well I just have no idea when I will do the wrapathlon - I don't want to do it from 11pm to 2am (when they are all finally asleep, but may have no other choice!)

I don't know how you do it trissie. I physically cannot be that busy. I don't know what happened last night. I went to bed and slept for an hour or so and woke up to my back/ ribs needing to snap and probably some heartburn and who knows what caused a small anxiety episode ... took one of my anxiety meds. And now I made some time to sit here and fix my crochet again. Still managed to find another row that backed up twice to get through it . But now I gotta get ready for work.
