helia, life does keep piling up around Christmas, doesn't it? When does the term end? I think teachers who have a term ending at Christmas (it was like this at my law school, but not at the engineering school which ran till mid-January before the 6 week exam period started) have it the same as businesses which try to wrap everything up before end of financial year. When I was in investment, I remember one year driving to the land registry at 12:30 on New Year's Eve (they closed at 1pm) to file something to have it recorded in that year's numbers!

Doggedly, I think most traditional songs, unless they worship God, are about sex... well anyways at least the ones that survived till now! But maybe that's just us Slavic people, the protestant countries were a bit uptight for that?
Frenchie, a trip to the coast sounds lovely! We have grey, cold and mist. Yay for paracetamol doing its job!

I think every good kitty story deserves a dog story...

Pup is NOT allowed on my sofa. She knows that, and (most of the time) she respects it... until I go down to the laundry room. At that point, she makes her way there, cozies up to the throw pillow and looks like she owns it:) (actually, very cute...) As she hears me open the door, quickly jumps off, sits down in her prettiest "sit" looking at me innocently

Kitkat Casper is good. He's 3 now and turned into the sweetest guy. Except his shenanigans in the house. He lives on leash in the house too cause he insists on going to the bedrooms which he is not allowed. Every time I let go of it he prances off to ds room and nose in the trash cause tissue is better than a treat... or the cat food in our room. He still pulls on leash but I think a good portion of that I was not persistent enough lol...

I'm trying to get through this dreaded row on crochet before I move on . It's on third repeat or maybe more...

Oh and the other thing I need is some shopping. Gotta check out the stores a bit. I want to get to the gift store and see if anything is right for the girls.

I think I'm just discouraged again... with ds sick he's still not feeling well I was kind of counting on his help.

...and speaking about being outmaneuvered by Germane... Remember when she stopped eating the vet dog food right after I bought a case of it? Well, there was a good sale on at Pet Valu. I only bought small quantities of the different foods that I have been trying on her, but bought a case of Performatrin Ultra Limited Ingredient Duck And Pea because she has consistently liked it and it is not causing digestive issues. Yesterday I fed her from the first can from the case. Today she won't eat it. Working with the information available to me, it made sense to commit to a bigger purchase at 30% off. Germane responded "Don't feed me sale food. I only eat full price!"

That's nice that you had help from your DGD to set up Christmas decorations, kitkat. That gives them a special appeal.

helia, I think that it was usual that traditional songs had regional differences before we had the internet to flatten out the differences. I remember that the version of John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt that I had learned as a child was different from the version I heard on TV.

I think that you are right about the sex, trissie. I think that Protestant populations coped by making sanitized versions for the children, or referring to sex so obliquely that the perpetrators could feign innocence.

I love that pup, kitkat. When I first adopted Inertia, I didn't allow her on the bed. Now I can't even remember why I thought that was a good idea. Anyway, she stayed off of it when I home, but every day I came home to a warm, coonhound-shaped depression in the bedding, LOL.

Lauralind, you have my sympathy on that crochet row. In the summer, I crocheted a simple hat. I then crocheted a nice tight headband and sewed it on, to cover my ears effectively. In practice, it's too tight and I can't put on the hat without making a mess of my hair that forces it into my eyes. I'm going to have to pick apart the sewing and then try again on the headband.

We had a wonderful time on the seaside walk. Not much wind but the waves were beautiful nonetheless. And not too many people as everyone is busy shopping I suppose. (shops are closed on Sundays here)
Pics of the walk at Quiberon, between the sea and the moor. Very sweet temperatures, we didn't neet coats. Smell of salt, moorgrass, and summer sunscreen.

Now I'm going to put store-bought pizzas in the oven, and blend a quick soup, for the family movie night. I also need to take care of my sore neck but really it's nothing compared to this morning's soreness and headache.

(((laurlind))) The holiday season can be easily overwhelming, especially because there's a lot of emotional stuff wrapped up in it. Try to take one thing at a time and focus on the "reason for the season".

The snow has been falling again. It's close to a white-out here. G is driving home from the Indy airport. Normally, it's about a 2-hour drive, but it's going to take awhile longer today. He's going to take it slow and not get in a hurry. Glad I got the last layer of snow of the drive & sidewalk.

Veggie drinks are done and in the fridge.

Christmas is always overwhelming here. I will try that advice. Really what I should do first is go shopping. See if I can actually find enough of the buns in town. If not I still have time to bake. And see if there is anything suitable in town for gifts. If I could get organized a little sooner so I had time to order stuff. I probably do just cause we are traveling I might have to send something directly to dd address...

It's better in here at least. Kitchen clean. Laundry started. Swept floors. I should mop yet but other priority. Maybe if I go to town dh will snow blow while the car is out the way....

When my kids were young, I'd have this really long list of everything to do to make it the "perfect" Christmas. The closer I got to Christmas Day, the more things dropped off the list. And it was still great.

I've been puttering around doing nothing. Going to hop in the shower. Need to be ready in case G makes it in time to go to the college basketball game.
