A huge part of the reason I'm staying home today is that it is snowing here and It's probably been snowing for a while.

KittyKat hit the nail on the head with why my brother isn't going south of our border any time soon. Yes, I am Canadian.

I just heard a snowplow go by.

I've been mopping the floors. I should have swept first. There was a very sticky area between the bed and the bathroom that "should" be done more frequently. Dh says it wasn't him. Unfortunately he started back on the water pills and it's working. He hasn't started cussing yet, but I'm expecting that to start soon. Maybe not today but who knows.

Looking in from the big city. We’ll see a show later with dd, not sure what else today holds. We had dinner last night with dh’s cousin and wife and son. Late, was 11 when we got back to hotel.

Winter weather advisory tonight, hoping for snow overnight!

I’ve had 12K steps daily, my back and legs are feeling it.

Heard a big boom outside just as I was a bout to let ddoggo back in it was startling.

Good morning!

We will have cold weather starting tonight for a couple of days but then we will be back into the 70's next week. In my little corner of the world, if you don't like the weather just wait a moment and it will change to something else.

I made a blunder this morning when I cooked the biscuits, bacon, eggs. Somehow, I managed to get the biscuits cooked to perfection on the outside but the center was not completely cooked. Oops. It happens.

3 things for today -
** Repair couch leather that is cracked on the ends. The couch is still structurally sound with 2 recliners in each end, however it gets some hard use by the teens. I don't want to replace it while we are still in teen years as long as it is sound and the repairs can hide the aut-ohs.
** Decision on daily med containers for the teens. They each take 2 pills a day and I want to make it easier on myself to monitor it.
** PLANNER decision .....augh. I am still looking for just the right one for me. The daily planner I ordered on black Friday has served it purpose to show me that it is very useful and a good addition to my daily doings. However, it was advertised that it had a page a day but in reality, it only has a page a day for weekdays. Saturday and Sunday don't have their own page. I am willing to pay full price for a planner that gets daily use. Finding the right format, size, binding proves to be a bigger challenge than I thought.

d lady hello yes 70 and then cold is interesting - how do cattle and horses handle it?
oops that does happen - I always wonder what causes this to happen when it does - I made cupcakes that everyone thought were lava cakes? lol

No snow here Just fog sun is trying to make an appearance.
Did enough writing that my wrist needed a break / rest.
Happy to type that I have chicken thighs going in the crock pot now.
Yea for progress.

Update: one person died in an explosion was what I heard and saw on fb reporting.
All the neighbors were looking out their windows or going outside to check.
It was 17 mi. away and still very loud.

Noon CI / crock pot started at nine and chicken thighs not done froze veg. I put in later did not help.
On the plus side last load is in the dryer and the house smells great now.
Might have the above for dinner and do diff. lunch.

I'm still in the process of planting mums in the raised bed garden. The mums were beautiful in the pots when i purchased them and now they will be growing in the garden to put on a flowery show next fall. I use mums on the north ends of the raised bed because that area isn't used for vegetables. I have strawberries growing in earth boxes next to the raised beds, so I don't like to stretch that far to harvest the vegetables. it is a perfect spot to grow a huge mum. I only have 2 more mums to get out of the pots and into the ground, so I want to complete that before the temps drop below freezing for 36 hours.

Happening in the kitchen today - baked potatoes in the instant pot along with a skillet of sausage & cream gravy.

DGS18 asked if he could bring a friend and come stay with us next week. I am 100% okay with DGS18 coming but I vetoed the friend. I don't know this teenager boy and I have a 14 year old teenager girl to protect. Sorry...not sorry. I'm probably overprotective and I'm okay with that. Having 4 teenagers in the house is enough without bringing in another teen that I don't know.

next week. ugh... why did I look at the calendar? Beside DGS18 being here, plus homeschool & public school, we also have 6 appointments on the calendar. And I'm hearing rumors that DS52 is going to make the 10 hour round trip drive to visit us. I haven't heard about DGD15 but it wouldn't surprise me if she tagged along too. Bring on the chaos! The more the merrier!

Good... afternoon? Goodness, I must have lunch as soon as I'm done here!

Gloomy day here. Cold, windy, only a dusting of snow. DH proctored the ACT this morning, and now he and DD have gone downtown to a store specializing in exotic candy and such so she can do some Christmas shopping. My only plans to go out are to go to a concert at our church. The wife/mother of the Ukrainian family our parish is sponsoring is an accomplished pianist, and she is performing a benefit concert for the aid of one of her former students, a little girl with cancer who has been evacuated from Ukraine to Poland.

I've got a crockpot going so we can eat when we get back from the concert. It's a roast, but I don't know yet whether I'll serve it as a roast or as shredded beef sandwiches. I asked DH to pick up one large or two small roasts when he went shopping; either he only picked up one small one, or I cannot find the other in the freezer. So one of the kids is going to be disappointed -- DD likes the shredded beef, while DC would prefer their roast as a roast, thank you. Ordinarily, I do the roast in the crockpot, have half of it as roast, and turn the rest into shredded beef. This is too small to do that with.

I've reached a point of being overwhelmed with Christmas preparations. The living room is still full of ornaments that have not gone on the tree, as well as a card table set up with a puzzle DD decided to pull out a bit over a week ago and hasn't done much work on since. The playroom where we are housing DD's guest in a few days is still a mess, and I'm behind on shopping. I haven't even started baking. Yikes! I try to remind myself that Christmas will happen anyway. The year DD was born, I was in the hospital till the 23rd, and we still made something happen, although a little scaled down. Ah, well. Sitting here won't accomplish any of it.

Dh and I had the leftover Chinese food for lunch and then we had a nap. We are having meatloaf and baked potatoes for supper. I also made orange jello.

Someone we know came over to borrow the hoist to switch his dd's tires from summers to winters. He brought us some date squares. (Yay, now I don't have to make them!)
