Good morning on this Monday that will include the start of our New Year!
It's the day the Cleaning Focus calendar here starts, with porch and entry, so I've been doing that Village spiffing in the Organization area below.
In planner especially, I need to copy that schedule for my weeks upcoming. I did break over and buy a planner, although lots of disappointment that the features I like seem to have fallen out of favor with most publishers of the simpler spiral-bounds. Maybe I'll just write on some colorful reminder stickers at top of each weekly spread - "kitchen", "office", etc.
helia, how on earth is your oldest dd 30 now... .. my goodness, I realize our two 27-year-olds are contemporaries, but you're so young! Much too young to have a child that age, although of course it's so. I enjoy reading about how much fun they have together.

Re: Mahonia Monday
Good morning trissie, helia, Harriett, FFly, ! I've come to learn ... Mahonia? I've never heard about it. Very pretty!
Thanks for the start kittykatt
I MUST get started. There is snow falling but there is ice on the ground, presumably due to last night's freezing temps.
I must go and put salt down. I barely made it when I took pup out.
1. Salt
2. Meds/supplements
3. feed pup
then
Start lol
wipe down counters
Vacuum main

Re: Mahonia Monday
Morning all. Back to work day it seems again. Me too... I don't want to lol. I'm guessing pack up days. Sometimes I wish the boss would just put stuff on sale and sell it all but no. Pack it all up. I should be counting it all but my gadget blew up the battery a while ago and it's on the boss to figure a new one... I think I will go upstairs first and tidyup what is left . Should not be much. Direct the girls on pack up. If we start right away.
Some depends on dh too. Yesterday was church and lunch. Nap time for a bit and then he got up to see if he could get the snow blower going. He stopped to shovel the deck first and slipped and fell down the stairs. Same ones Casper made me fall on. He landed on his lower back and arm and thankfully that softened hitting his head too hard . Big welt on his back and sore. He gave the manager a heads up see how he feels today. I can't decide if it's better to rest or move a bit so it doesn't stiffen up too much. I can do some back filling in his section too either way if he comes or not.
But I should get some routine stuff done first. My usual mid shift. 9 to 530. Have to catch up after disaster cats. I should put some tree stuff away. It's still standing but cats do have ornaments on the floor from being home all week.
Helian sounds like a busy Christmas time as usual. Take 2 for you as well with ds and family. Enjoy the little one. Guaranteed she's grown so much already.
Harriet I hope you can find a suitable planner or notes etc. Hope you are well... I have fallen way behind on cuop of your other thread. Just too much I barely keep up here.
Frenchie good luck with the work day. And trissie too.
We have to sort out when we're going to do something with the full family here as well. Gotta get a gift card for ds and ddil at work. Maybe we'll just do us and ds and ddil and invite dad down. Things have switched up a little since before we left when mom got a spot in the hospital. She seems thriving on nurse care. They have her on pretty good routine which dad couldn't do. She's also on pain relief as they think she's got some arthritis. Makes sense. Gma can relate in that i believe. So I think we're not going to try getting her out too often. They transport with wheel chair and bus to the nursing home activities.
I did my shower already. Need to do some routines and see what else I can get to before work.
S&s both baths
Fold laundry reboot
Tidy laundry room and master bedroom some
Empty and reload dw
Finish tidying kitchen all the way
Tidy main living space

Hi laurlind - glad your dmom is feeling better. Have to be very careful in this weather. I fell twice in the past month... and it had nothing to do with ice (or pup...)
Harriet - good for you keeping up with Cleaning Focus.
Last few done - except for laundry.
Outdoor stuff took a while...
Grabbing a coffee
then
garbage/rec OTD
PUPAs
lol

Re: Mahonia Monday
Good morning, all. If I post this right away before I CUOP, it will still be morning here.
I got an early start (for me) doing a bit of cleaning and reorganizing before calling the building about the clogged bathtub. The gods are looking on me kindly today. I also have a delivery coming, so I am up and dressed and ready for both things.
BB with my list and to CUOP.

Re: Mahonia Monday
Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt, and for the reminder that flowers exist and that we will see summer again. We have passed the winter solstice, friends. It only gets lighter from here on.
I did tackle the bathtub drain on my own. A couple days ago I put down a caustic. It did a great job on the bathroom sink and I thought that the bathtub had improved a bit, so I thought that I was okey to have my shower last night. When it became clear that the water wasn't draining, I tried plunging it, but to no avail. I have a great thing that works well in the kitchen sink: a can of very strong compressed air. You make a seal around the drain and then release the air, and it forces the clog out. It's like magic. But it doesn't work in the bathroom because the sink and bathtub both have the overflow opening, so the air comes out there instead of forcing the clog. I did try to put down my plastic fish spine as I call it (a sort of plumber's snake), but there's a metal plate about an inch below that stops it. And I do use a strainer to try to catch my hair before it goes down. Oh, well, I've been here seven years so I'm not a very demanding tenant. They'll sort it out.
I hope that your DH enjoys his day of volunteering on the steam train.
FrenchFly, if you are in a poorly insulated place that you don't have control over, like work, what you want to do is to heat you instead of the air. A radiant heater (rather than a space heater) uses less electricity than a space heater and it will heat you, not the air. Unless the air is very humid. If you stick it under your desk, it will heat your extremities and reassure your vital organs that they don't have to hog all of the blood to stay alive.
That's as far as I have gotten in CUOP, but need to get up a do a few more things.
Monday
Put on a pot of coffee
Breakfast for Germane
Wiped down white board
Fresh water for dog
Cleaned bathroom sink
Spiffed self
Cleaned up after dog X 2
Tidied bathroom
Called apartment front office about the clogged bathtub. Remembered to ask to have the gaskets changed at the same time.
Fed dog
Made breakfast
Spot cleaned kitchen floor repeatedly as dog walked around dropping pieces of potato and carrot
Set up new Procrastaccomplishments list
Started CUOP

Re: Mahonia Monday
helia, I just wanted to be sure that the big remoska is working before discarding the packaging, so I boiled some water in it
Harriet, is there a thread for the cleaning challenge? Not that I could get started on anything right now, till next week, but it's always nice to have company!
kitkat, snow over ice is definitely not fun!
lauralind, I feel for your DH! I slipped on the stairs at the cottage last year (as I was rushing to and from car packing after New Year's), and had the very same kind of injury - lower back and hand. It took over a month for the bruise to disappear! But as long as nothing is broken or torn, it will heal with time.
Good afternoon now, Dogged!
L.Ann, is your DD back to work this week?
I've decided to postpone shopping till tomorrow. I just couldn't make myself do it today!
I'll have to get up early and do it while the other are getting their stuff ready, but the bright side is it will be DH who will be yelling at the girls to get up and do something!
TaDas
- midday routine
- 15 on laundry
- cottage menus and shopping list
- load of lights
- load of colors
- pot of bologna sauce simmering on stove
- dinner started (way too much slightly stale braided bread has been transformed in a French toast casserolle)
ToDos
- afternoon routine
- 15 on laundry
- crisis cleaning: 10 in kitchen, living room, bathrooms/hallways

Re: Mahonia Monday
My DD technically only had off 1/2 day Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Trissie. She was hoping to be off Friday but because too many people were sick she ended up working Friday and half day Saturday. The vet’s office doesn’t close very often. Her husband closed his shop the 24-26, so he had Little Bit.
