Happy New Year!
I'm sitting in bed, watching the Rose parade. DGS is sound asleep on the couch and yes, it is almost 12:30 pm.

He was up literally all night; I got up around 6:00 a.m. to get a drink, and he was in the recliner, wide awake. Sometimes he has nights like this -- I guess this is a sign of the autism. He was probably a little over-stimulated at the party last night. The kids played basketball in the church gym the whole time we were there and didn't really take much time to eat. (I, on the other hand, ate waaay too much.) And LOTS of salty stuff -- the ham, chili, chips and salsa... drank a ton of sweet tea... But we had a nice time, just sat around and talked, and we left around 11;00 or 11:30 -- everyone did, and some left earlier. LOL, dgirl cousin said, "We're a boring bunch, aren't we?" She had also invited two of her co-workers, who I found out are cousins of her dhusband. I taught all of them in school, so was very comfortable with them as well, and their children/grandchildren are classmates of DGD -- their dgs has vowed to marry DGD ever since they were in kindergarten. (He is autistic also, and has more self-control issues than my dgs has ever had -- but he is also a very talented artist. He could probably work for Disney right now.)
We all stayed up till past midnight, and I actually took DGD home after her parents called to wish us all a happy New Year. She claimed she had hurt her foot at the party. Of course, there was no mention of this until we started to the car, and she was not ready to leave at the time. (DGS had been ready to leave for an hour, LOL.) We watched the countdown from Nashville, and I heard fireworks (maybe gunshots?) -- I never saw the fireworks, but definitely heard the sounds.
Anyway, yes, I need to s2s.
I am also putting off going into the kitchen because I left a big mess last night with the ham. (DGS pointed out that it was not as big a mess as the year the pineapple juice overflowed the small roasting pan.)
DGS is supposed to eat with his other grandparents at 5:30, so there is no rush for anything around here today.
