National "Clear off your desk" Day!

Finished a.m. routine and decluttered on drawer in the chest of drawers in the bathroom. It's the third one down which ends up being "odds and ends."

Dh was cleared to bowl at his dr appointment last week, so he went to the Monday afternoon play. We'll see how that shoulder feels.

I am heading upstairs for less than an hour. I'll need to get ready for workout.

Before PSW came over dh told me he didn't want them to come today. They had already left a message that they were on their way. He put his foot down and said he wouldn't have a shower today. We talked about how he would be able to do the same cleaning for me that I'm having a problem doing for him. It was a statement of fact, not trying to make me feel bad. Then the PSW got there. She was awesome. Told him that today was a "getting to know each other" day. Talked about respect for the client and privacy and shyness, etc. She sat here and spoke to him for just over an hour. He was much happier about all this by the time she left. WHEW!! All 3 cats came out to give this particular PSW their feline seals of approval! Normally they run and hide if someone comes in the house.

Dh has a doctor's appointment with his cardiologist at 2.

I think I'll sleep well tonight.

My desk is good, but my pile of things to file grows. I try to handle all the mail as soon as I get it usually file right after that.

My mornings routines have shifted. Still get most done before I get Sweetie up. Takes me two hours to get him up, showered, personal health done and then dress him. We’re talking 3 yr old style.

He can’t figure out how to feed himself and getting him to take his two pills takes forever. Looks at them and asked me a thousand question abt them

Breakfast takes another hour. This morning while walking Coco I question why I had more energy taking care of my two year old son and could get everything else done. One thing that was different was I could take my son on errands and let him play with my friends kids while I visited my friends. Can’t do that at the moment

I have lab tests coming up. It will be interesting to see what the results are.

I’m just giving myself some grace.

Just damp dusted the top of my genealogy/treasurer desk. It has a small pile of papers I need to check out, and a small tray of odds and ends, mostly desk supplies. With two monitors I can't see through to the other side of the desk, but there are some tschokes there - I moved some to window still.

I put a list over in the list for the week thread. Of course I won't get to all of it, but I consider it the highest priorities. At least the top 19 or so? Occurs to me I should perhaps prioritize within that list and not just pick off the low hanging fruit.

I'm moving my treasurer duties upstairs too. It's too hard to focus at times with dh downstairs, and it will move the paper clutter up here.

The stamping desk I mostly unearthed a few days ago. I need to work on keeping it clear, but I do tend to walk off and leave whatever I'm working on front and center.

It does seem to be similar to taking care of a toddler in some ways. The biggest difference I can see is the purpose. With a toddler we are teaching them how to do things so they can grow up and do it themselves. With our dementia spouses, we can teach them how to do things again today but they most likely won't remember any of it tomorrow.
For me, I am discovering that most of my focus is teaching myself how to do things that DH used to take care of. He is still here.....but in so many ways he isn't. I am weirdly thankful that I have this time with him to learn how to do these things. If he was instantly killed in a car wreck then i wouldn't have the time to learn all these things. I don't want to learn them, but there isn't much choice. It is a slow grieving process.

My afternoon/evening hours are back-to-back appointments that timing must be perfect in order to happen. I don't like doing multiple appointments like this without some time padding, but it is what it is.
3:45 - pick up DD14 from school. Drive 10 miles to family doctor office through next town busy school release traffic
4:00 - DS17 appointment with family doctor. If they are running late, I can stay with him until 4:45pm before leaving to drive 25 miles
5:30 - DD14 appointment with trusted counselor
6:00 - DS17 and GF are meeting her Dad in big city to eat
6:30 - get DD14 & DH something to eat at drive through and they can eat while I drive home
7:30 - DD49 here to help reset DD14 bedroom (hoping she shows up this time)

I did some more journaling then went outside to see if I thought it was warm enough for a walk.
So instead I did some pick up and put away of things like rakes trash cans to go inside the shop
or shed after some sweeping. Yea! 15 min. and I got more steps in almost to my half day goal!
That makes me smile.

Hello, again, everybody! I've got about half an hour before I need to go pick DC up.

Well, I babysat the washer, and it went through its paces fine -- until it got to the final spin. It was on permapress, so I set it on the spin-only cycle on the regular side, and it spun out just fine. So I put in a new load on the regular side; we'll see how it goes.

Right before I left with DC, we had a neighbor come by asking if he could look in our yard for his lost cat. Definitely not whether you'd want a cat out in. He and DC checked the places in the yard it might have taken shelter; no luck. He did find some tracks that seemed to be going to another neighbor's yard, so he was going to try there. I hope he found it!

DD just came around noodling about what she can use to divide her drawers, thinking of using the box they gave us to bring the Chinese home last night. (Uh, no -- greasy!) I told her they make drawer dividers. I was thinking Target; she's thinking Container Store. Either way, she's thinking of going in and looking, so I'll have to see if DH is willing to accompany her. If not, the Container Store is better -- the last time we were there, I was able to sit a bit in a chair in their office section. I suppose if all else fails, I accompany her in the car and wait in the car while she shops.

I'm glad the PSW meeting went well, Cathy. I can see where one would not like, "Hi, nice to meet you, now strip down!"

did about three hours of decluttering and putting things where they belong. We lost that focus getting ready for the holiday season

I took before pictures of DD14 bedroom. I am hopeful the room reset happens so she can be surrounded by things she loves and enjoy her space. I've researched the connection between Complex PTSD and how it affects decluttering and organizing. Hopefully having an appointment with counselor right before DD14 bedroom reset happens will be helpful.

mom - was great this morning and then took a turn to fighting help. '

last night (dh had to help me stand mom up after going to the bathroom - she decided she was not going to stand up for me - I finally had to call dh - he didn't look - but he did touch her arm to help her get up and without hesitation she stood up on her own - he didn't have to exert himself at all. I still don't get why she won't get up with me. he or helpers come and she is strong and can stand up on her own.

time to go back and see if I can get her up to get a nap.
