What interesting history of tulips! Rabbits like to eat them; I planted a bag of about 50 daffodils in my new landscaping in September. I hope they bloom in the spring. (Supposedly, niether rabbits nor deer like them) If they do, ti will be pretty in fron of my yellow house.

Getting ready to go to dfBS, get her car and take it to the shop for installation of a battery trickle charger, as the car is no driven enough to maintain the battery. Then I can have mine back.
When I get back, I have a piano tuner coming.
While he is here, I will be baking bread for church supper tomorrow.
Then more cards to sort, that I brought from mother's (WHY??? add to my house, but there's one drawer of cards, and I am sorting mine, so it seemes to make sense to get them all done.
Gift to wrap and get into the mail for very dfCS whose 75 birthday is early next Tuesday, and I won't be able to see her until I get back from my FLorida vacation.

FFB, school is keeping dh busy and your household is supportive. I hope he is enjoying what he is learning, and it will be fruitful for employment wehn he is done.

I love tulips but apparently so do the voles and grubs so I have never been able to grow them successfully. I have had really good luck with daffodils, GMA, so hopefully yours will grow well. They also spread pretty fast.

Hello, everyone!

I'm sorry today is being difficult, FFB. I hope Mr NG's training is productive.

KitKat, I can see the point of the two months med supply system, as it probably means less waste, but whoever wrote the computer program/ system / algorithm/ whatever didn't make allowances for the fact that not all meds are manufactured in convenient monthly packages! I'm sure I can't be the only person affected, and they can't really cut open the box, as the tablets come in 3x 28 day dispensers, with no internal packaging (to save waste) so you really couldn't just give an unprotected dispenser to someone. Oh, and you'd have to duplicate the instructions/ warning sheet too, so that's really a no go.

Bama, I think when computers work properly the can be very good, but all too often, they don't, and then it's a source of stress and very often human intervention is required. It's also too easy to become dependent, and then people can't manage if it doesn't work for some reason. Back in the summer of last year, the IT systems at some of the local health centres went down, as did the vet's system, in an unrelated incident. It was interesting not seen how they coped. Or Not. The GPs basically shut up shop and refused to see anyone. But the director at the vets is an older lady, with many years experience, so she just brought out the stock of pre printed forms all ready to take case notes, and told the receptionist to photocopy them. They didn't take any more bookings for routine appointments, but emergencies and urgent cases were told to come down as usual. And, of course, there were all the people who had pre booked appointments that were still seen. Sometimes I think we have a lot to learn from previous generations.

Helia, you got a lot done yesterday! No walk for me today, as it's rained all day. It had finally stopped now, but it's dark, so I'll wait until tomorrow.

Gma, I'm sure your daffodils will look very pretty when spring comes. Your homemade bread sounds very tasty!

Dogged, enquiring minds are asking, what is the course you're doing?

L.Ann, tulips don't like our soil (clay) very much, although Dnextdoorneighbour C has some red tulips that have thrives for years. They also only tend to be good in pots for a two, so I look on them as a temporary display.

Well, after a lot of messaging today, I think I *may* have managed to sort out that med. The senior partner ended up getting involved, but I suppose even a recalcitrant IT system quails under his authority. On the domestic front, the sitting room has been given its weekly clean and DH has been launched to choral society.

We've tried growing tulips here too, L Ann, and haven't succeeded. We had lots of tulips at my childhood home in IL.
Gma, our piano is in sore need of tuning. It hasn't been done for years. I no longer play, nor does ds. J12yo does play it whenever she comes over.

Speaking of tulips, dh has mentioned how his parents ate tulip bulbs to survive during the hunger winter of 1944-1945 in the Netherlands. Both his parents were from fairly wealthy families, one from a line of minor nobility; food was scarce for everyone.

L.Ann, my df used to live in a neighbourhood where they had what they called The Lottery. Every fall, they would plant bulbs and every spring they would watch to see what flowers they ended up with, and where. The squirrels would dig them up and hide them. So you never knew whose flowers you would get, or where in your lawn you would find them.
I have the opposite problem of yours: Everything on my list appeals to me and I want it down now now NOW! I can feel my stress levels going up for no good reason: I just want to do it all first. Totally irrational.

Kittykatt, when a human makes a mistake, we can usually understand why. When a computer does something unexpected, it just feels irrational. WTG on working through the medical centre's computer glitch.

I have a question for you for something that I will definitely not be tackling today: Yesterday I found a small enough bag of soil that I was willing to haul it back to my apartment. So I can now repot Pinky And The Brain. It's looking pretty miserable. You commented before that they had probably packed the plants in so tight that they don't have enough soil, and I think that you're right. Now that 2 or 3 of the plants are dead, I can cut their roots out and replace that soil so that the rest of the plants can grow in that direction. Or I can lift them out of the pot, cut the dead roots out and then repot them in a same-sized pot that I saved from an old balcony plant. Any advice for a black thumb?

My course is an introduction to AI. It's not meant for programmers incorporating AI into their programs, but for users to know what the purpose of different AI applications are and how to use them. I'm feeling very left behind, and while I don't plan get into programming, I'd like an understanding of what's out there and what use it might be. I happened to get an email from Udemy about a Boxing Week sale and remembered that I used to take courses from them with one of my old employers. It was only $12, so it was the right price at the right time, LOL.
It's going extremely slowly because I put it on the computer that I'm setting back up. So, I start the course and it says that it works best on Chrome. So, stop to sign in as the administrator and install Chrome. Go on to other things.
Come back today, roll back to an earlier module to check out the downloadable resource: no pdf reader installed. Start out for Adobe, stop to question if I should look at other options, do a bit of research, install a pdf reader, LOL. I'll get there eventually. There's no time limit on the course and I'm not on the clock.

helia, I remember a man from Belgium telling me about eating tulip bulbs as a child in the war. He said that they didn't taste good.

Doggedly, I have the same feeling about all my todos when at payroll : everything seems urgent and needs to be done at once. Interesting to read it said by another person. And then when it's all done I thing "pfew!" and I feel relieved and then suddenly I have a feeling of being a bit empty. And then I'm bored at payroll for the rest of the day. Is it weird ?

Payroll day went better in the afternoon, sorry I sounded a bit depressed when posting earlier. School (the lunch hour team) called around 1pm, DS7 was supposedly sick. MrNG called me to tell me, as he was further from the house and school he thought I should go home to get DS7, but then that means I would lose a half day of payroll (meaning less time off during summer break), so he drove home instead, his training afternoon wasn't essential, and he isn't paid, so...
My mood was also lifted because there were 3 cards from overseas tonight in the letterbox.

Glad your payroll afternoon ended up OK FFB. I do a version of that too! I was SO happy to not have a class this session, but then I started to feel a little aimless and worried about missing out. LOL!
