Re: Snowboarding Sunday
Snowboarding is a fun mix of surfing, skateboarding, and skiing. It has become immensely popular as a winter sport, making its Olympic debut at the 1998 Games in Nagano.
Snowboarding was created in the United States in the 1960s, when social change and the search for greater freedom of expression, along with advances in equipment, led to the development of new ways to play sports on snow. In the 1970s, the production of snowboards grew, and the sport began to gain popularity among surfers and skateboarders. Snowboarders began to ‘invade’ ski resorts. The USA hosted the first national snowboarding championships in 1982 and the first world championships in 1983. The International Snowboarding Federation (ISF) was formed seven years later and the International Ski Federation (FIS) introduced snowboarding as an FIS discipline in 1994.
Snowboarding first appeared in the Olympic programme at the 1998 Nagano Games with the giant slalom and halfpipe events. Parallel giant slalom was added at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. At the 2006 Games in Turin, snowboard cross made its debut, followed by slopestyle in 2014 in Sochi and Big Air in 2018 in PyeongChang. The most recent addition was the mixed team snowboard cross event, which debuted at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

Re: Snowboarding Sunday
Hi, Kittykatt. Thank you for starting us off. I'm not sure why, but I got on with things instead of posting and ended up skipping Saturday. I'll go back and CUOP when I get up. For now, I'll go ahead and post my Ta Das:
Saturday
Cleaned up after dog.
Spiffed self
Breakfast for Germane
Checked balance on laundry card: not enough.
Tried and tried to load money to laundry card. Tried with 3 different browsers.
Found temporary home for extra box of pee pads
Unfolded handtruck to 4-wheel cart
Bagged kitchen garbage and bathroom garbage
Collected paper and blue box recycling
Brought garbage, blue box recycling and paper recycling to basement
Tried to load the laundry card manually from the machine. Found that I had brought the wrong physical card with me.
Back upstairs
Had a nice little chat with a nice neighbour
Opened new container of dog food
Gave Germane her Benedryll, which is good as she didn’t eat her Apoquel last night
Gave up for a while
Rebooted
Sorted laundry
Moved carts out of the way
Moved laundry cart out of closet
Looked for laundry card: can’t find it
Searched for card in my purse
Just before going to basement to buy a new laundry card, checked the pockets of the pants I was wearing the last time I did laundry: found card
Started two loads of laundry
Gave Germane a treat
Went to basement to load money on laundry card.
Brought old metal tin to put in recycling
Went to locker and brought up a new box of pads
Came back upstairs. Realized that I did not load money on card while in the basement.
Flipped laundry
Hung tshirts
Brought laundry back
Had supper
Filled dw, set it up and started it
Moved the dishes to the drying racks
Topped up the onion bin from the onion bag
Put away dw cart
Treats for Germane
Apoquel for Germane
Took vitamin
Hung tshirts around the apartment
Set up big drying rack
Hung the dryer load
Set up the small dryer rack
Hung the delicates
Have a good time at church.

Re: Snowboarding Sunday
◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
kittykatt, thanks for the start. Wishing you a nice time at church, and a relaxing afternoon at home. Can't wait to hear about your Sunday meal menu
. We watched Hotel Transylvania 2, as funny as the first one.
Dogged, seeing your list it doesn't look like you "skipped" Saturday. Are you using up your onions ?
Grey day, there may be some sunshine at some point. As people here say "what do you mean, the weather is rainy in Brittany ? The weather is sunny, and what's more, it's sunny several times a day !"
MrNG and DS10 went out for a walk while it's not raining. DS10 has an animal photograph project with his class. MrNG lent him his own father's previous digital camera. It's almot 10 am so no chance of wild animal seeing, but they may go for a similar expedition earlier another weekend.
For those who have read Ann Patchett's books, any advice on which one to start with, to get an idea of her writings and maybe want to read others afterwards ?
TADAs
up, briefly read news, quick cuop
checked books about Ann Patchett, I will have to read one
tea and breakfast and coffee
quiet conversations at breakfast with MrNG and DS10
Now DS7 is up... and lying in bed beside me. I should start the pellet stove and get moving.
TODOs
clean pellet stove, start it
peel veggies for lunch : carrot, parsnips, turnips
check how to cook the meat I bought for the meat-eaters
consider baking a dessert ?
also
things from to-do list that are still not done

Re: Snowboarding Sunday
Happy Sunday!
I went MIA yesterday, because I decided to do a quick run to the mall (that's never quick as it's 25 minutes drive to the closest one) and since the girls wanted to go with me, it took like an hour to get out of the door
Anyway, it was a success, at least for me, because I desperately needed some office-type winter boots. I am a minimalist, so I only have one pair of black office winter shoes, and I was noticing this week that my right foot was hurting in the evening. Finally checked the boots and the heel was cracked and sagging, so now I know the answer and immediate replacement was needed. Black, elegant, leather, wider, and with low heel - yeah, good luck this late in season! But the very first shop I went to had a really nice super comfortable pair in my size, so yeah!
Finally got the sleep in this morning, and I will pledge to have the rest of the day productive!
How cool about daddy and son time in your family, Frenchie!
Dogged, doing and not posting is always more productive than the other way round!
kittykatt, snowboarding is definitely an Olympic sport that's well know around here, especially in the last years, as we have a tripple-gold medalist Ester Ledecka (well, she has two golds in snowboarding and one in super-G on skis, which makes her the first woman to win a double gold in different disciplines in a single olympics, so eventhough I am not a sports fan, I think she's super cool! And her dad is a singer whom I loved when I was a teen and whose Christmas album is my guilty pleasure to this day

Re: Snowboarding Sunday
It's 0430 on Sunday morning in Minnesota. I'm (not) sleeping at the airport, after 8 flight delay, first no pilot, second frozen engine, then finally they cancelled the flight and rescheduled for 0930 Sunday morning. The staff told me that the voucher for hotel and meal was in an email. My dbro email is the one associated with this reservation. He told me there was no voucher in his email. So I'm resting in the "quiet space" of the airport. Not at all comfy, but safe and an attempt by the airport. It is better and quieter, and feels safer, than being at the gate. I have had a little sleep, but woke up cold, bundled up, went for a walk, found a (very thin) blanket and now will try to close my eyes for another 2 hours before hopefully being able to find an agent who can get me a voucher for breakfast. That should be a lot cheaper for them than a hotel and shuttle. Everyone handled it well - what else can we do? Being crabby about it won't get us there any faster.

Oh, gma, so sorry the start of your holiday is so complicated! But winter storms are just hard to predict in advance and mess up all schedules
Stay warm and safe!

Re: Snowboarding Sunday
Good morning:)
Thanks for the start Kittykatt . I can't believe snowboarding has been an Olympic sport for 28 years... Seems like yesterday:)
Glad to see Dogged posting
Sorry to hear about Gma's flight issues... With the crazy weather I was thinking about her...
Nice project for Dson, FFly
As for Ann Patchett, I started with Tom Lake. It was good and kept me interested in her other books.
Bel Canto is really good and rather different from her other works. The Dutch House is also "right up there". Either one of those is a good start:)
trissie - nice find with those boots:)
Weather report:
Cold and VERY windy with ominous clouds. No snow -yet. Apparently, it's delayed until 10 a.m.
We've been outside with dpup.
Next:
starting the morning stuff
In all likelihood, I'll be staying in, alternating between shovelling (once the snow arrives) and housework. I also want to use up stuff in the fridge- so cooking and baking are planned.
Dpup will need to be challenged a bit, so I'm planning an indoor obstacle course, using Dining room chairs etc.
