I just got up from a nap.


Dh was asleep on the couch/sofa when I went into the bedroom to read. I never even picked up my book. As I was laying there, thinking about dh's most recent health issue, I felt him come into the bed. Then I closed my eyes and that was it for me...

When I woke up the curling was on and dh wasn't in the bed.

Time to go put the soup into a pot and heat it up.

LadyM, back before cell phones and unlimited long distance, dh had a friend who fell asleep on the phone with his GF -- long-distance from College Town to here!
He also had a friend (maybe the same guy?) who drove back to College Town one Sunday afternoon, called GF, got in a big argument, drove BACK here to Tiny Town, about 3.5 hours, settled their differences, and drove BACK to school in time for Monday morning classes!

YOU, LadyM, have become our resident expert on all stages of teens! (Happy birthday to GF!)
And BTW, I really hope I did not offend you by talking about the fancy "posed" proposals! I really want to apologize if you took that the wrong way. I would never want to offend you -- and it's certainly not something unique to your DS... It is definitely a sign of our times, as KittyKat said, different times.
RE: prom-posals... one of ds' friends lit those paper bag candles all along the 18th hole at the golf course, and took GF out there to ask her to the prom. This really blows my mind, because if they are dating steadily, don't they know they will be going to the prom together? Although dbro did have a girl break the prom date within a week or so of the event. But that could happen no matter how long they had been dating. I don't know if dbro would have said he was "going steady" with this girl or not.
I've got another one I'll put in MO, just in case any of these 50-something guest that come on at night are known to me.

It took me a REALLY long while to do the right thing, or anything, for that matter! DGS did not make any noise and I actually slept till almost noon.
But I am now s2s, load of towels in the washer, did my Bible reading (but not the more lengthy church study for the day), and dgs and I have had a frozen pizza for lunch.
I have texted Dcousin but haven't heard back from her. Her daughter is cleaning out closets and last night she posted some rain boots that are dgd's size, so I am going to go get those when she tells me they are home.

I checked in with my niece and nephew (who live in Nashville) -- he is actually next door now -- came south before the storm got there. She has to work tomorrow, and is still in Nashville, but dbil said she still had electricity yesterday.

Our school is out again tomorrow, because of the extreme cold. I hope they will cancel the scholars' bowl match Saturday because of extreme cold. SMH.

Mystery, I think ddil hopes their house will be the place dgd's friends congregate when she gets older. I hope that things get a little more organized over there before random kids start popping in and out. If not, all those kids will be going home telling their parents what a mess it is at that house. Of course, ddil has made the statement that DGD will have to do some cleaning herself before she invites people over.

Rose, how often do you have to color your hair? I am finding that my color does not last too long at all, but it is mostly because of new growth. I start thinking I should color around 3 weeks, and I don't want to do it more than once a month. I hate doing it, but I don't want to let my hair go completely gray yet. I need an attitude adjustment about the coloring process. I should look at it as spa day, ME time.

(((Cathy and dh))) I wish your dh would go to the ER, but I certainly understand a man who refuses. Praying all goes well with the appointment tomorrow and they can take care of this place on his leg without too much problem.

somebody put a nickel in DD earlier, and I got to hear all about a lot of things I scarcely care about.

I LOVE that, Mystery. I'll have to remember that when DGS is going on and on about whatever.

Today he has set up a hypothetical 64 team football playoff system, like the basketball teams do already. He based his seedings on last year's records.
Then he kept running in here asking me, "Who do you think will win, X or Y?" He has finally settled down and I haven't heard from him in a while.
I may end up with both of them tonight, because I'm going to take the boots to DGD after I get them. She may want to come home with me. I may do spaghetti for them.

The bread was good for heels & meat & cream cheese.
Dsis said it was 42* there warmer than we are. clouds all week here dang.
Plus air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups double dang!

I have PBS one about Cesar on in the back ground I think it's a rerun for me.

Have any of you ever frozen the cheese dip with Rotel, Velveeta, and hamburger meat?
I would love to have that, but I know it would make a LOT more than I could eat before it spoiled.

Lucylee… I color my hair abt every 5 weeks give or take. I use permanent color and do the roots and then abt 5 minutes before it’s done color the rest of it before I wash it out

The color I use has a bit of red in it because my nature hair color is med brown with hues of red. Course over time it fads as did my normal so it’s always a darker color when I first it

Everyone loves the color and I have no desire to go natural gray. First I don’t have much gray/white only along the front hair line and second my natural gray is really dark with black in it.

I’ve tried on many different colored gray wigs and hate them all so I guess I’ll be coloring mine for a long time. My 84 yr old friend colors hers as well and no one can believe her she… that’s because she keeps her hair colored. She hates gray too !

I'm using Clairol Herbal Essence, I think. It's supposed to last 18 washes, but I'm wondering if it's more like 18 days! LOL! Beautician says I should just use the spray on root treatment in between times. My hair -- before color -- was a dark auburn, and my (box) color has a little more red in it than I like, but they quit making the color that I really loved.

Long story ( involving a cancellation and an irate HRH ), but repairman is here. He has been working hard. Turns out for the extremely expensive system put in about 8 months ago, the incorrect thermostat was put in, and it makes a huge difference. He has sounded like he is doing advanced trigonometry in the hallway, with everything spread around him on the floor, on speaker phone with a supervisor, both reading a complicated manual.

Absolutely not offended by discussion of staged & photographed proposal.
I do like celebrating and documenting each special moment of life, but sometimes it seems overdone. To each their own.

I haven't tried freezing it, but I don't think the cheese dip would freeze well. Maybe share some of it with others?

We got a couple of surprise food gifts today. DBro and DSisIL dropped off a big bag of frozen meat, including hamburger and roasts. Janice, a friend, stopped by with a freshly made peach cobbler. I’m grateful for their kindness and thoughtfulness.

Yea LucyL, according to Google you can freeze it up to 2-3 mo.

I've made my deviled eggs! yum!
Trash got dumped ahead of trash day on Tues.
Got the first 1/3 of a prayer shawl completed yea!
