Hello L.Ann, Helia and KitKat!

L.Ann, I hope your appointment goes smoothly.

Enjoy your less scheduled day, Helia!

I hope your back feels better, KitKat.

I'm taking a break. I've cleaned the oven, washed out some cannisters that somehow got missed, and waxed the kitchen floor. Oh, I've also messaged Painter J and already had a reply requesting more information, so we're in the system. :D (I know he's got a huge backlog of outdoor work from last year as it's rained constantly since last November, so I'm not expecting him to come and actually do the work any time soon, but hopefully he should be able to do it over the summer sometime .)

Edited to add: I've accepted J's quote and he will let me know when he's able to come and do the job. (Almost certainly not for a few months, as, thanks to a very wet winter, he has "limited exterior slots" left for this year. I'm so glad I got in contact now and didn't leave it any later!!!)

Hi, all! It seems shameful not to CUOP properly when we are still on Page 1, and yet... I have painted myself into a corner with my reorganizing, and it looks like I will spend my evening mostly undoing it, LOL. I have been wanting to unfold my table because it's so crowded with the laptop and my food on it. But now that it's unfolded, the computer desk is really awkward and not ergonomic by any means. And in the course of struggling with that, I found the cables that I need to put the laptop under the monitor's riser and plug it into the KVM switch, which will get it off of the table, which then does not need to be expanded and can be put back the way that it was, and this is the house that Jack built. So now that I have made everything worse and inconvenient and kicked up a lot of dust, all that I actually want to get done is clean myself up and give my db a call as we have arranged a phone visit.

Friday
Cleaned up after dog
Checked laundry and put away dry
Put away dry dishes
Set up wireless mouse on laptop
Tested the battery on wireless mouse
Replaced it
Tried to expand table
Cleaned glasses
Looked for the name of the company that I bought the table from
Found the table on their web site
Watched the video on how to expand it
Moved everything out from under table and swept area
Tried to do it: screw, washer and nut fell out
Checked screw: non-standard so can’t use screwdriver
Finger tightened screw as a temporary fix
Wiped down table and expanded it
Wiped down newly exposes surface
Put out place mats
Space in office area is now very crowded. Can’t reach mouse, and keyboard is awkward
Moved keyboard over. Have to take down hangers clipped onto risers
Tried to move mouse over: caught on cables in the back
Took apart cables. Found the cables that I wanted to be able to move the laptop under the monitor and use KVM switch.
Moved mouse over
Started a library CD playing on the PC

Thank you Kittykatt, for starting us off and for your cheers about laundry.

Greetings and cheers to kitkat, L.Ann, helia, and all of our accomplished SHEs.

Dogged, that sounds quite a conundrum you've got there! Can you just screen off the office area with something for a few hours so you get a break from it while you talk to your DBro? And taking a break from it might also give you some inspiration of how best to sort it all.

This took an unexpected turn, Kittykatt. My db and I got into a debate about whether my KVM switch was using serial ports, which my db disputed. Ended up pulling the dog's pen forward to get at the back of my computer and sending pictures to him. Final verdict is that the laptop is incompatible with the KVM switch, and after a little digging online it is clear that it will be less expensive to replace the KVM switch with one that is compatible with both machines, than to buy an adapter for it. So... until I get the KVM switch replaced, it makes sense to keep the table folded out and the laptop on it, so this morning's efforts were not for nothing after all.
I'm glad that the weather cleared up long enough for you to get some garden time. WTG on all that you got done!

Clean up playdough residue sounds like a big job, L.Ann. I hope that it's not too bad.

I found a recipe for microwave fudge that called for granulated sugar, not icing sugar. And after three goes in the microwave, the granulated sugar is still granulated. I added a bunch of walnuts to distract from that.
