Housekeeping Olympics - Saturday February 7, 2026

Post by blessedw2 »

Celebrating the Olympics?

Did you know there is a housekeeping Olympics in Las Vegas every year? - it's a real thing! Housekeepers from different hotels compete with each other to compete against other professional housekeepers for the honor of winning the (fun) olympics. :D

We ourselves are athletes and professionals in our homes! Not only do we do great feats every day, we do it for our families and our community!
Homemakers are pretty amazing! We are pretty amazing!!!

Our jobs and our profession have brought so much joy and peace to our families - let's celebrate us!

what will be your event today?
We will cheer each on! (I don't have any cowbells to ring while you work - like they do at the skiing events but I am rah rah rah-ing for you all day!)

What a joy it is that we can work together!!!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

my d mom called out for me at 10 pm - saying she thought she was in the basement - dd older and I went in her room and told her she was never alone and that we are always here. her face relaxed, her body relaxed and she hugged us - dd older is very good with mom. Mom felt safe again and happy!
dh, dd and I said it is good that she is here and for her to feel loved!

The other day, after mom went to bed, dd older said to mom "you are a treasure" and my mom responded "you are my double treasure". I love these moments. These moments are not here all the time, during the day to day, but to know that she safe is reassuring.

yesterday I worked on an America's test kitchen bread recipe - well at first I was so pleased. lol it turned into a Curling stone* (like the olympics).
oh my gosh it was terrible. Funniest thing I have ever seen!!!!

*"A curling stone, also known as a rock, is a heavy, polished granite sphere with a handle, used in the sport of curling to slide across ice towards a target. These distinctive stones weigh around 42 pounds and are traditionally made from a rare, dense granite from Scotland's" My bread was surely a Rock -

bw2, so very sorry to hear about your bread. You are indeed blessed with your dds and your dmom and dh.

We had a restless night. DDog on the foot of dh's side of the bed and she was restless all night and he was grumpy. i think he finally got up and slept on the couch and I slept better after that. Or maybe I wasn't aware of how restless Millie was. She is so suspicious she'll hardly come near me right now. Wondering if we should add a cone to keep her from the constant grooming of her rear end.

DH and I are supposed to go to a fund raiser tonight so I guess we'll go. I hate leave her honestly.

And more....talked to vet's office, we're going to get her a cone, perhaps a soft donut style cone, and they are prescribing some gabapentin that will help with the pain also. So I have to get dressed and get out.

I feel like I'm barely functioning.

No housekeeping Olympics here.

d twins, sweet millie!!!! praying for her to heal fast - every time we get the cone of shame for our Gracie - she won't look at me and hides. for a 70 lb dog there aren't a lot of places to hide! how did the surgery go? and what did they do to help her.
praying she is comfortable for you tonight.
you have so so much that you have an your plate and you have worry - worry and stress can stop the functioning of our lives.
praying you feel better.

mom told the Saturday morning helper (she is here until noon or 1) don't touch me - she didn't want to get up - dd older came in and it all changed. mom is up. (I think she is the mom whisperer)

dh did all the dishes. I cleaned the sink.
load of laundry is in.

- do mom's meds (lol I have to give it to her before she eats or mom closes her mouth tight and shakes her head - as if she is saying "nope not going to happen"

I'm sidelined I think ~ but watching.
CI after no cook week and I did get quite a bit done on editing.
Re grouping after that and putting down on paper what the results of my week were is a good thing.

I need to shower & wash my hair & mop.
I should go to the market not sure I"m up to that I do have food in the house that
I can use as alternate meals.

I've been up since 4:30 noticed several had lites on already on the street behind me.
Diff. rigs parked next door and across the street a u-haul. Some changes here this weekend.

Rain in the forecast here today.
Processing my week and the ups and downs that it contained.

Good morning

Blessedw2 - Thank you for the start today.

My night was spent in Mom mode taking care of DD14. Her fever keeps spiking, so I need to keep track of it. It went to 102.6 at 10pm then I got it down to 100 by 2pm before it returned to 102 at 6am. She is nausea, has a cough and feels yucky. Her best friend at school has the same symptoms. My main goal is to keep fever from going too high and keep DD14 from becoming dehydrated. Hopefully DH and my immune system is strong enough to fight off being exposed to it.

I am so glad it is the weekend and we have no appointments to deal with. I can return my focus to hourly pathway cards and earing those feel good rewards.

Just finished graceful ICE SKATING around the kitchen, twisting and turning while I spiffed there. I had enough dishes that I'm putting the dishwasher through its paces now. So, a very high score.

I need to participate in SKIMO, ski mountaineering, specifically the men's and women's mixed event, which would place me on combination team with ds, who knows the where and how to more a piece of furniture from storage building into house. Ds says we drew a spot further down in the lineup, postponed to later in the coming week for that.
