I read Gone with the Wind as my personal summer project between 5th and 6th grade, age 10-11. I understood it well enough but probably would have understood even better if I'd waited until I was a bit more mature.

LOL Doggedly! Yes, the tom turkey has been very successful. WTG on making the internet decision! And yes, that is a not-very-pleasant scene in King Lear. I remember being anxious while reading The Merchant of Venice because I thought I might read about a pound of flesh literally being cut out of the character ____. And I believe we discussed the negative portrayal of Shylock as quite anti-semitic, likely in line with the views of the time.
Having friends to read and put on plays with you is the best, trissie! I had various personal projects too that ranged from writing stories (my friend EP and I used to "write books" together in elementary school, passing the notebook to each other as we each completed a chapter) to learning all I could about insects, catching them, and mounting them to create a collection.

Dh, M, the girls, J12yo, and Raven are all downstairs in the play room watching the Super Bowl. We don't usually watch it. I can hear LOTS of laughter coming up the stairs! And the singing of K-Pop songs. . . Are they really watching the Super Bowl?? I think I'm going to go join them for a while.

I called the credit card company try again to activate this replacement card that they sent me. I can try to do the last step in the grocery store tomorrow.
