Thanks for another interesting start, trissie! I think WFH sounds like a great idea today. You don't want to share those germs while you do want to rest more (I hope you can get a nap) and get better. Glad the citizenship issue has been resolved.
Love the childhood research projects, kitkat! Did you save your notebooks? Enjoy talking with a friend, and WTG on the junk drawer.
Kitty, did you in fact have coffee in your garden? It is 9*F (-12.8C) here and the ground is covered in snow, so that possibility is amazing to think about.
WTG getting pills into Germane, Doggedly! See you in a bit.

Today, I'm off to a late start. I went to bed a little late bc I couldn't extract myself from the current Audible book I'm listening to. Also, dh has been sweating profusely at night after taking Advil; he says he has a fever at night with this cold or whatever he has. He soaks his side of the bed and then moves onto my side, and I have little space to sleep + he is wet with sweat. Sorry if TMI -- it makes sleeping a bit more difficult. It's OK; today is a low-key day. I have a work meeting on the schedule at noon, and I think I need to update the website as my task today. But. . . for the first time in 6 days, we have NO EVENING EVENTS. :D :D Wednesday - Sunday, we had social events each night. I just hope M doesn't crash our dinner together, which happens once in a while.

Other todos today will look familiar.

Hope your DH feels better soon, helia- that is not a good night's sleep for either of you...
No, I don't have those notebooks any more... :(
trissie - yes, a library (or bookstore) will do that for us:)
I would read about Picasso, checked out Guernica, moved onto Spanish Civil War, got interested in the language, memorized a bit of Spanish...
Dogged - pills are challenging... Drops in ears, eyes extra challenging... I try to do "exercises" with my pup when she is well so she "allows" me to do those with more or less success when the time comes. We started "brushing" teeth. (Something I never could do with any of my former dogs)

Finished my monthly chat with dfriend:) That was fun.

Moving on to reg. routine
then
finish the drawer (that will take a while... there is a huge pile of papers involved)

kitkat, I also taught myself some German and Spanish with my parents old textbooks! I preferred books to our family's encyclopedia set for information because they had more information. I did do some research projects too, mainly on animals or insects. I always loved being outdoors and everything nature-related. I also loved reading and writing stories, and I won a couple story-writing contests as a child.

I wonder if we would have all liked each other if we had met each other as kids? :) :?:

☀️Good morning!

Helia, interesting question. I hope so. I bought my own set of encyclopedias and still love looking at them, outdated as they are. Hope you and your dh can get some rest tonight.

Kitkat, chat with a friend sounds like a great way to start a Monday.

Trissie, hope the inheritance and citizenship all works out.

Kittykatt, enjoy your new roaster when it arrives.

I took a break from posting/routines although I still did the same things, just without thinking about them all. I did miss all of the conversations. You never know what will get mentioned here and I do enjoy it. I was woken up way too early by the generator running, called the company and the person on the phone had no idea about it, called the power company and there was an outage in my area so the generator was doing what it’s supposed to, heard sirens all around so maybe there was some kind of accident that knocked out a power pole. I thought I smelled smoke too but it was foggy and hard to tell. Power is back on now, the loud generator has shut off so it’s a lot quieter, and pets have been fed, floors cleaned, breakfast eaten. I may take a little nap or just chill before I continue on. Bbl.
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥

Bama, luckily I still have the old version of my birth certificate which states the names of my grandparents (the new version only has parents' names - I had to request a duplicate at one point and so I have a full and "abbreviated" version) and the notary settling the inheritance confirmed it would be OK. Otherwise I would have had to procure my father's birth certificate, which would have been a big hassle as he was born in Slovakia and I don't really fancy the 6 hour train ride to get to the town where the respective register office resides! The notary could arrange for the birth certificate to be provided the "official way", but they informed me it would take at least a year bouncing through bureaucratic hell.
kitkat, the things we do for knowledge! :-)
helia, I actually taught myself Slovakian reading old books at my grandma's! But Slovakian and Czech are very close.

I can't take too much credit for getting Germane's pills into her, trissie and Kittykatt. She takes them like a champion in her food. My issue lately is when she loses interest in eating her food, then I lose my way of getting the pill into her. But her appetite seems to be better. She's getting hungry twice a day, which is enough to get a reasonable amount of food and her pills into her, so I'm celebrating.

trissie, I hope that your work from home day does you and your cold some good.

Kittykatt, I'm sorry about your roaster. That must have been shocking.
Are the doll house and the photos the fun thing for today, or do you have something else lined up?
You are so much more patient than I am. Years ago, my (male) boss lost track of something on a work trip and needed the office to sort it out for him. I can't remember if it was his car keys, his wallet or one card, but the girls in Administration got it sorted for him, and had a good laugh. That night, I crocheted two pouches and labelled them "Wallet" and "Keys" and connected them by an idiot string like we do with toddlers' mittens. When he came back from his trip, I waited for him to step out of his office without his jacket and nipped in and threaded the idiot string through the sleeves. He had a good sense of humour, and came out of his office to model for us.

KitKat, FlyLady said you CAN put stuff away in 15 minutes. She didn't say that you WILL put it away. ;)

I'm with trissie. The idea of having coffee on my balcony leaves me cold, LOL. That said it is improving. The wind chill is supposed to go up to -13 C this afternoon, a real improvement over the weekend.
The possibility of being stateless is a shock that we can all relate to, trissie, even if we don't understand the finer points. But I'm glad that your mother's status secures yours.

Hooray for a quiet supper with DH, helia. Would it be possible to set up separate bedding on the bed, just until your DH feels better?

That is the wonderful thing about being curious, kitkat. I remember starting with biographies of Pierre Elliot Trudeau (Justin Trudeau's father, for our non-Canadian dfs), from there to Margaret Trudeau's biography, and from there I somehow ended up on Caroline Onassis, on to Aristotle Onassis and from him to Maria Callas. That began my love of opera. Of course, that was while I was an adult.
helia, I think that we would have found a lot in common as children. Though I would have stayed stuck firmly to my seat inside with my books, waiting for you to come back in and tell me about what you found.
I admire you being able to teach yourself languages. I always needed class for that, and was only average at it.

Welcome back, Bama! I'm glad that your power is back on.

Monday
Made new Procrastaccomplishments list for the week

I hope you can rest after the appointment, L Ann. Oh, I see you've gone for a long walk! You must be feeling OK.
Doggedly, I didn't get very far teaching myself German and Spanish because I never had any speaking/ listening practice. :D Glad Germane's appetite has improved.
trissie, it's interesting to me that there are 2 languages in your area. When it was Czechoslovakia, were both used? And did children have to learn both?
Bama, sometimes I talk about what I'm doing/ need to do more than I actually do it. Everyone here is so interesting!! Good to take a break and reset once in a while.

Done with payroll meeting. Finishing lunch and QT is next.

Next:
