☀️Good morning!

Trissie, now I know who to blame for making me take math classes.

Kittykatt, what a complicated morning. It’s good that you know how to maneuver through all of the hoops to get your antibiotics.

Helia, Switzerland, how exciting!

Kitkat, wtg on the declutter.

I’m up and scrubbing floors. Yay.

Good morning, all. I am back. It's a grey day today. We have snow forecast, which will be nice to watch. I am very happy to have the grocery shopping done. I like to get carb-based foods into plastic containers as quickly as possible, in case bugs have come along with them. When they are wet, I am paralysed between "I have to let them dry out for a few days to avoid mould before I put them in plastic container" and "I should get this into a plastic container in case it has weevils." In my 65 years, I have only once had a weevil infestation, so it's not likely. But it's so much easier to avoid the problem than to fix it, and in an apartment building you don't want to have to contact the front office to tell them that you are the source of an infestation. None of which is an issue for me, as I got the shopping done yesterday.

Kittykatt, I can imagine being caught by surprise by such a different reaction to your catbite. Do you think that it is because of a change in policy generally, or because it is a new health centre?

trissie, that is interesting about the languages.
I hope that you are vanquishing the Donwannas.

Hi, kitkat. I hope that your DH's appointment goes well.

helia, that is interesting about the Dutch dialects. The country is so small that we don't think about different dialects, but that is human ingenuity.
That is a timely reminder. I should be booking my hotel and car for my next visit to my db.

I hope that the floor-scrubbing goes quickly, Bama.

Dogged, hate to admit it, but I didn't really get far on my dontwannas, but I got stuck on upgrading a database so that in future it will not need as much manual work. These things are invisible but they tend to save a lot of time later on!
Bama, it's the Greeks! They invented it! :-)
helia, I think the reason I am so good with languages is that by 5th grade, I was already exposed to / studying 6 different languages! Czech as my native, Slovak through TV, English since 3rd grade, German was mandatory since 5th grade and I participate in the school offered Spanish and French "voluntary classes" (it was a "gifted kids" type of school with heavy foreign language curriculum).
yay for a long sleep, kitkat!
kittykatt, it's much cheaper to treat a cat bite early on - I know at least of two friends/relatives of friends who ended up septic in ICU due to an untreated cat bite. A couple pills and some antibiotic ointment on day 1 is much easier on the healthcare system!
hi L.Ann! How are you feeling today?

My car's been acting up on the way home. Just what I need 10 days before we are to leave for the ski vacation! I really have neither time nor energy for that, but I don't think I have a choice, do I? I'll clean it out and tomorrow call the shop for them to look at it.

I had a horrible night sleep; was still awake at 0315. For some reason I was cold, tho my house was warm, my mattress pad was turned on. But I finally got to sleep. Happy surprise, my email notified me of posts here, jut as suddenly as they had disappeared for over a week. Mystery.
trissie, I hope things are going better at work, and your team project goes smoothly.
kittykatt, I'm happy you got treatment for your cat bite.
dogged, I put flour in my freezer for a few days before pouring it into my flour bin. that was a suggestion from our University home extension agent years ago. She said sometimes the eggs just come with the flour, but freezing kills them. I have had no issues since I started following that advice (and very rare before either)
helia, I hope you have a great trip! My family members who have been to Switzerland say it is a beautiful and hospitable country. My parents bought me a cuckoo clock when they were there. And I hope you have minimal issue with altitude sickness. My mom had it once in Colorado; she had chills like a fever after staying the night some above 11,000 feet. When I finally suspected it, I just loaded her up and we headed down the mountain. She improved as we descended. you ight think to take one of those finger oximeters with you.
kitkat, hooray for a long sleep! Keep going on the declutter!
Laurlind, did I mention (I have thought about but have been distracted) that being separated from you Mom, even tho the caregiving burden is lessened, is probably devastatingly lonely for your father. I'm glad you have been able to make her room more homey.
hi to bama, l.ann.

Our temps have moderated, but there's no sun. I did go for a wlk yesterday and made a 5,000 step goal. I think I need maybe to make time to get new shoes, for the benefit of my foot. We're "up" in the 30s (near 0 C)
Piano tuner is coming today
and I need to spend time at mother's. Her funeral was in November; we sent out 180 acknowledgment cards right away, but since Thanksgiving a few memorials have trickled in. I need to get those taken care of, plus put away several things.
DfBS is doing much better after her heart failure got taken care of. I think it started when she had pneumonia in November, but it was not caught until it got worse. She is on half the oxygen she needed before going to the hospital. That is reassuring to her! I have to do some reinforcing of the medication teaching.
POTD
clear the decorations off the piano so the tuner will have access!
(Tht includes my bethlehem olive wood manger scene)
exercise with a DVD
eat some yogurt and fruit for breakfast
re-clear bathroom counter clutter
check in with dfBS
go for a walk
tend to mother's house
go to neighboring city to buy ink for my printer (My town is small and doesn't have those big kind of stores)
get gas for car

What else? Oh, Ihave cookie dough that needs baking

My floors are clean. For a minute.

Dogged, wtg on keeping the enemy (weevils) at bay. We have the same issues in the south. Everything goes into the freezer or an air tight container as soon as possible.

Hi LAnn. Enjoy your walk.

Trissie, the Greeks have caused me a lot of grief. Well, actually, it was my high school teachers, bc I had tutors my age in college and they explained things beautifully. If I had only known earlier, I might be a math whiz now lol.
I hope the car issue isn’t anything serious.

Gma, I hope you get better rest tonight.

Dd called, worried about rental time frame so chatted awhile

Done:
Weigh - need to log in app
Pet chores - feed, water, litter
Spot clean floors
Ate breakfast - need to log in app
Dogs out and in, given bites of waffle
Got package delivered, opened and put away (waterproof spray for trip)
Put box on floor for cats to play with
Food taken out to thaw for supper - turkey meat, frozen cornbread dressing, carrot soufflé
Played game
Bathroom - restock bags, churu cat snacks, cleaning wipes
Kitchen - dw unloaded, loaded, sink shined, counters wiped down

WTG with your clean floor and all your TaDas, Bama!
Are you also refilling your bird feeder daily, L Ann? Nice that you had breakfast with friends and could walk outside!! I hope to jog outside this afternoon. :)
So, did you get enough sleep in the end, Gma? Technology - it always surprises you! I hadn't thought of an oximeter. I think I'll get one.
I hope the shop can take care of your car quickly, trissie. Is parking a problem for you when you go to work? I picture you working in the middle of Prague - but maybe that's not accurate.
WTG with the shopping yesterday, Doggedly! I got most of it done yesterday but need to get some things from WF today.
Yay for sunshine, kitkat! Nice that you can walk to shops today - with clean hair!

We do not have Fable tonight - that is tomorrow night. :)

Our bird feeder is about 1/3 empty so maybe our personal avian welfare state is abating?

Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- reclaim kitchen

Later:
- make bed
- 10:30 - 12ish KS2J get together
- stop by WF?
- put food away
- lunch
- after lunch clean up
- 1-2 payroll: S2 start up mtg
- dress to jog
- jog outside
- NY cards - can I finish?
- s/s main bathroom
- tidy living areas
- writing time
- 6:30 - ? host dinner crew
- duolingo
- update health apps

TaDas!
- up; weighed
- coffee

Bama, a good Math teacher makes a real difference! Also, people learn in different ways and what may work for one, will not work for another - I always keep telling my girls that they are not stupid, it's just that we haven't found the right way to explain it to them! (DH has a masters degree in teaching - HS math and computers, but works in a different field)¨
L.Ann, glad you are feeling well!
do you play piano, gma?
kitkat, I am starving too, but it's dinnertime for me and probably late breakfast / lunch for your!
helia, yes, I work in the city center, so both traffic and parking would be a nightmare. There is pretty reliable public transportation from our village, but the route it takes is rather prone to traffic jams, and also it's a 0.5 mile walk to/from the bus station, plus DBD's school is in a different village. So I drive a couple a miles to a nearby town where I leave the car and hop on the train or a different bus route that is less prone to traffic jams ("our road" has one lane in each direction, but the other road has two lanes in each direction, one of them reserved for public transportation, so it just wheezes through the city). Once in the city, I take the subway to the train station. It's about an hour each way, and it would be 1:15 if I took public transportation only. It can be done if need be, but it's not convenient.
