hello d all - I wish I could say individually - I had a whole day planned and it kind of went out of the window.
my menu is set though which is good
I ordered groceries - boy they are expensive.
pulled the cookbooks that I will use.
mom wants French this week - I let her choose what she would like.

mom just went to bed again - very tired.
helper went to lunch
I spent time with mom on videos that family just sent from France
some French/aslatian news
and chatting

Dh got home and made himself a wrap. Not sure I'll need to cook tonight...

Our temp is 40, "feels like" 32, and I've been hearing the wind whipping all afternoon. Dog is walked.

Did you know there are a lot of Harper families in Virginia before 1800? Yeah. I didn't either. I'd like to have some research targets when I get to the Library in Richmond, but finding it hard to narrow down.

I finished the asparagus raised bed design. I am please how it turned out. Of course, I won't be 100% sure this new design will work as good as I hope until the end of summer 2026 garden season.
I have started the dismantling of 2 more fence panels with plans of using them as topper to raised bed #7 and #8. A side benefit of doing this will be the 3 separate back yards will be joined together. I haven't thought through the gates yet. There are 7 gates of various sizes in these back yards. It is easier to just keep them all so that my first inclination. Sam will have about half acre of fenced yard for his outside area.

The fella DS17 helped last night offered to take DS17 & GF16 to steak house tonight as pay. He must not realize how much teenagers eat. It would have been more cost effective for him to just pay DS17 in cash.

DH is feeling better so we are going to church services this evening.

All clean laundry is away!
2/3 litter boxes are deep cleaned!
Dishwasher is empty and waiting for some dishes from the sink.
Most pots/pans/large utensils are done.

Dh had chili-cheese dogs for supper.

Although it has been pleasant to have some creativity today, It has been tedious.

Maybe tomorrow I can get to the point I thought I'd be today.

Have a DPC to make tomorrow as well.

Dd27 texted asking for family birthday info and when I called she was at lunch and couldn't take the info down. Sigh. So I ended up working a lot harder than I intended to get it into an email for her and gave her a lot of extra info. I intend for her to use it and send some cards, record this info for herself, etc.

It's barely still Sunday, but I thought I'd check in with y'all.
I've had a pretty good weekend -- dgrands were mostly well-behaved -- and we had a good weekend. Cooked spaghetti Saturday night and they both ate a LOT (even though DGD earlier complained that she didn't want pasta.)
Talked to dh's cousin. (Offered to bring them some spaghetti but their daughter was cooking for her dad and cousin was eating nursing home food.)
DS is home safely.

I have a friend at church who is just determined that I should meet with the Medicare person who comes to the library monthly; he is sure he will save me money. I just don't know about this -- I talked to the retirement people and they said my retirement check will increase almost $300 when I go on Medicare. I did not realize there was much choice with Medicare A & B, I thought that was kinda a set thing, but Dfriend seems to think not -- so maybe I should look into this more. He also said if we sign up six months in advance, we can lock in a price, in case there are changes later. So tomorrow, I think I will try to call the Social Security office and see what I can find out. And do some internet research.

It is cold and windy again here too! Cathy, I hope you don't get the blizzard conditions forecast for the Northeast US. It sounds like they are going to have some really rough conditions.
They are talking on the tv about the hockey players who were supposed to fly into New York tomorrow, but will be going to Miami instead.

Here, at midnight, it is 30, feels like 19. I am certainly thankful I do not have to take kids to school at 7:00 a.m., when it will be 20 degrees! Brrrr.

Doing Little Things... well, I did put a load of clothes in and get the garbage to the road before I sat down after we got home from church. The dgrands played outside for awhile, but I did not want to be out in that wind. The access door to my crawl space keeps falling over, and so I've got it propped up with a cement block and a dying plant. (As dmom says, poor folks have poor ways, LOL!!! But there's a gap of about 2-3 inches at the top of it and in this wind, I don't know if it will hold or not.
I ran the dishwasher last night, but didn't empty it, so I have some dirty dishes in the sink. Otherwise, things are in pretty good order here.

I need to work on my Christmas and Thanksgiving 3x5s, Harriet. Some of them don't really reflect what I do -- some of the Grand Plan doesn't really apply to me right now.

LadyM, I think "how he does it" (re: your DS) is that he watches YOU! You always seem extremely high energy to me!

Nancy, I did not sleep well last night, and I took a long nap this afternoon, so will probably repeat last night's wakefulness. I was watching the bobsled people on the Olympics. And the snow skiers who do those extreme jumps and twists in the air. That is amazing to me.

Yes -- March next Sunday... dmom's birthday. We will probably try to celebrate on Monday because DS will be out of town again. I need to get something else for dmom's gift -- I have a sweatshirt and a pair of pants, but the shirt came from Wmart and the pants were on sale, so I haven't really spent much on her, and she has done so much for me financially -- paying for dh's funeral and my root canal. I can never repay her for all that.

Twins, I admire (and maybe envy) your travel plans. Do you ever have any problems travelling alone like this?

blessed, that is so good that you and your dmom were able to look at videos from family in France! I bet she loved that.
I need to get a Wmart order together too... dgrands have eaten all the applesauce packets, emptied the ice cream, made a pretty big dent in the orange juice... they are just bottomless pits these days. DGD even more so than DGS.

I also need to pay car insurance tomorrow. I always just pay this in person, the office is on the way to the post office. It's a little over $600 every six months. Does that sound high, for an 8-yr-old Tahoe? We have been with the same company ever since dh and I married, but looking at this roof deductible, I'm questioning. But I don't want to switch to the other main one in town; they are the ones that dropped dmom because she wouldn't make all the improvements they wanted on my grandmother's house. (Add a porch railing, was the main thing. She did put up rails up the steps, but she just didn't think it would look right with a rail all around the porch -- it has columns -- early 1970s Colonial, I guess you would call it.

Oh well, almost time for Daniel Boone. Maybe I'll get here sooner tomorrow.
