I hope the appointment went well, Kitty. I need to keep myself focused as well - lots of things going on this week. No doomscrolling. I'm going to see if there's a weekly list thread up to help me stay focused.
We're a little warmer here, kitkat. It was 22F by the time I checked as I got up late. But the sun is shining and the skies are clear! We have a beautiful day too!
Enjoy lunch with friends today, L Ann. And WTG with the early morning walk.
trissie, good luck with all the emails. --Ooh, the evening playlist dh and I listen to is also very eclectic! Pop music, harder rock, Tallis Scholars (a cappella classical), movie soundtracks (like LOTR), classical orchestra, K Pop, folk music, black gospel music (Soweto Gospel Choir), Abba, Shulem (Orthodox Jewish singer from Brooklyn, NY we discovered while in Israel - his songs are hauntingly beautiful and soulful). . . . However, no bagpipes for us either.

If anyone wants to check out Shulem, Jerusalem of Gold is a very soulful song of his. Noting: It is sung in Hebrew.

I'm up and sort of at 'em. I'm having a slow start to my day, which I feel I'll pay for later. My day is open but my evening is busy with 2 events: hosting MZ for dinner at 6:30 (I think) and then a zoom call with ds + F at 8:30. Other things I need to do today: get groceries, go for a jog, make progress on exam prep, tend the exit exam graphic + send emails, be present for the gas inspection, writing time. Laundry would be good too. I might start researching restaurants for dinner out in Austin Friday night.

I'm glad I did the tidying yesterday as it means I don't need to do much cleaning today before our dinner guest arrives.

Later Possibilities:

☀️Good morning, Glories!

Kittykatt, I never could get into poetry so I’m excited to see how it goes this week, working the old brain out.
Hope the change in appointment times hasn’t messed with your routine.
My family lives about an hour away, dh’s family about 1.5 hours in a different direction. All easy enough to visit if we put in the effort, which we don’t do very often. Once a year at Christmas seems to work for most of us.

Trissie, kids do make scheduling anything complicated lol. Seems like schools could get on the same schedule with their breaks and holidays but that would be too easy.

Kitkat, I love that you find ways to stay active, through snow and ice even.

LAnn, I forgot to look it up last night after focusing on making a list for today so I’ll do that now while I eat. Hope it eases me in gently.
Since my girls have moved out they listen to rap and very jarring “music”, a huge difference from the 60s-90s stuff they grew up with. Where did I go wrong?

Waving to helia who snuck in as I posted.

I woke early and eager to tackle my list, let’s see how long that energy lasts.

Bama, the system was created back when people were not allowed to travel abroad, so it was necessary to space out people vacationing with their kids (or kids vacationing on their own - there are many organized winter week-long camps going on) over several weeks. So each county has a place in the 6-week rotation - our problem is we live just outside Prague (which occupies two 1-week slots due to its size) and the girls go to scholls locally and DS attends a school in Prague. But it's very common for people to pull out one of their kids out of school if the other goes to a school in different rotation place.
helia, so there's two (three) of us then! I will definitely check out that Jewish singer! In return, don't know if you speak any French, but my recommendation would be for Boris Vian chansons - it's actually pretty easy to understand the words, and Le Deserteur has hauntingly beautiful lyrics. I think Joan Baez did a cover of that song too.
L.Ann, what do you put in that Middle Eastern chickpea bowl?

I never cease to be amazed how cleaning will fill any available time! I only did 3 rooms in that 1 hour slot, but since I am not in a hurry today, I did a lot of those extra little tasks. More to be done still, though :-(

TaDas
- midday routine
- 60 on cleaning
- clean little glasshouse
- bread dough started (the starter took a lot of extra time to rise today...)
- clean DS13's room
- clean master bedroom
- clean master bathroom

ToDos
- afternoon routine
- 60 on cleaning
- 15 on organizational tasks

Braindump
routines
- evening routine
food
- dinner
- bake something sweet
- bake bread
organization
- DBD's speech therapy
- update land contract
- 15 on filing
- homework and backpacks
- plan for March
cleaning
- clean DBD's room
- clean twins' room
- spiff up kitchen
- spiff upliving room
- spiff up downstairs bathroom and hallways
- spiff up office
laundry
- ironing
- folding
- mending
- laundry put away
garden and outside
- start seeds
- prune fruit trees
- pick up - front garden / porch
- pick up - backyards
- start cleaning out the carpool
me time
- 15 of exercise
- Bible study
- reading

trissie, how fun! I'll check out that song. I've already found it. My French used to be OK -- but I haven't used it much over the decades so it's not great anymore. I remember the song "No, je ne regrette rien" from French class at university! :)

Jerusalem of Gold by Shulem is a bit repetitive, imho, one downside.

Hi, all. :) I am up and at 'em. I have washed a few basinsful of dishes, and filled the drying racks. I might be able to avoid going outside today, as Germane had a good feed from a new container of Go! that I opened. That would be nice, as the windchill is unattractive. It's supposed to be nice on Wednesday, so if I can do my errands then, that would be my choice.
