Red Moon Tues.

Wow... I Googled "names for full moons". There are numerous names for each full moon of the year. Ancient names, Celtic name, Native Indian names for North and South America. There are too many from too many cultures to even try to list all of them. BUT as far as I can see, the only name for the "extra" full moon is "Blue" moon.

Dh has agreed to go for blood work this afternoon but only if I go with him to sit with him in the waiting area. He's 65 years old...

Good morning

The pathway cards are vital on days like today. It is a relief to know that all I have to do is following them and all the must-do's are covered. I'm in a bit of a brain fog today because of the emotional evening (in J&C) waiting for lifelong friends to report in how their kids & grandkids are doing.

I'm doing easy things in the kitchen today - scrub 10lb of potatoes and drop them into the instant pot to cook. Press 2 buttons and walk away. It doesn't need any monitoring or assistance.

Well, I posted to it twice, mostly based on my usual Tuesday dailies, and still didn't "see", or understand what you were saying in your last post, Nancy. So I may need some help today, too!

Cathy, I think that would be a situation in which my dmother would have advised that there was self-conscious reflex there, trying to look as though on the offence (tough) while really feeling defensive. Although it's true we shouldn't dwell on unhappy memories, I don't think it's such a bad idea to recall moments when we encountered difficult times dealing with people. Working through things (verbal attacks? manipulation?), even long-ago ones, can help us come to mature conclusions in the present, and become more competent.

Good afternoon! Not too well CUOPed, so sorry if I missed anything. I did look up the situation near LadyM. Prayers said.

Pretty ordinary day here. Was able to get wash in before taking DC, fold the previous wash before picking them up, and stop for gas after picking them up. The gas station had a 25¢/gallon off offer with its loyalty card that expired today, so I topped off even though I was still about half full. OK, I'm distractible -- writing that reminded me of my plan to stop there for brunch after my blood draw, which reminded me I hadn't actually made the appointment, etc., etc.

The trapper caught one raccoon. He's replaced that cage and left up there the other one he put up. We'll see if he gets any more.

That's all the news here right now; it's been a boring day. I guess I should go do something to make it interesting!

I have been outside and got out the patio furniture at least some of it.
Not the cushions yet. Some planters and side tables and the folding one with the fold down
side for food coffee & / or journal. I like one out front & two in the back so where it's the sunny or shady
whatever I'm needing.

More to get out hoses mower etc. but I do not have to do it all today.
This stuff had to come out first b/c it was in the way to get out the other things.
It's helping me to get the rest of my steps in.
Glad I'm not chilled today.

Harriet what's going on with Sunny? I don't see a post from her.


We are back from getting dh's blood work done. We had to wait almost an hour because he didn't have an appointment, but both of his doctors need blood info from him before his appointment next Wednesday with his main doctor. Dh has a VERY hard time waiting for anything. He has absolutely no patience.

Sunny must have peeked in and left quickly and quietly. Sigh. I wanted to hear from her and Harmony!

Cathy, IKWYM re: dh's patience. Fortunately, mine finally got to the point he could go get blood work without me, LOL, but normally, there was no wait time at our local hospital. Anything else, he wanted me there with him. I even went in with him at our family doctor, and he had known that doctor since he (the doctor) was 13 years old!

I did NOT see the red moon, although I kinda wanted to. As y'all know, I was just getting to sleep about that time, and I wasn't about to set my clock to get up for it. I had a pity party and crying jag about the roof and having to make decisions on my own now, and I was just not in a good way when I went to sleep. And then I dreamed about dh's death -- only this time it happened in a hotel in Nashville -- and I didn't wake up in the best mood either.

HOWEVER -- the inspection and estimate with Roof Maxx went well, I guess you could say. The gist of it is -- I am not a candidate for Roof Maxx. Roof is too far gone. The young man (40ish?) said he just could not in good conscience recommend their treatment. I have lost too much gravel granules, etc.
I pointed out the granules still in sight where the roof drips off around the shrubbery. He took a picture -- said he had never seen anything like that. He also took lots of pictures of the roof itself and showed me, but I needed no convincing of that after the clean-up Saturday!
I'm glad he did not recommend this -- it takes one of the decisions away from me.
Now I am just deciding about metal or shingles, and leaning slightly towards metal. I am going to talk with some more friends who have metal, and find out more about any potential problems with cell reception and leakage/etc. One lady I know has a roof line just about exactly like mine, with dormers and the slant of the roof off the porch. I will be calling her for sure!

DS and our contractor/carpenter friend both came out and were here when the man arrived, so he knows I am not a helpless widow with no male support, LOL.
Contractor thinks I can get a little more time out of the present roof, but ds pointed out later, he doesn't know I can get the money for my deductible with little trouble. I have about half of it and can borrow the rest from dmom and pay her back in October. The insurance should cover any amount over the deductible, surely! Of course, they may have to consider the AGE of the roof before setting an amount they can pay.

I followed ds to the auto shop so he could leave his truck -- brakes are failing -- probably $500 out of his pocket soon... then we went to the post office, grocery store, and ate at the bar-b-que place where dfriend and I ate yesterday. (I'm like Scarlett O'Hara about bbq, LOL.) THEN we went to the cemetery and moved the little plaque that the funeral home put out when dh was buried. It was at the foot of the grave and we moved it up to the head of the grave, right beside the tombstone. I know most people just take those up when they get a stone set, but it has a good picture of dh on it, and ds and I agreed that we would leave it up until the sun fades the picture too much to look good. But now it is easier to mow around -- the man just sprays Round-up around the stones.

I've finished the laundry, but have not hung clothes to dry, and I need to sew a button on dgd's dress.
Also need to fold all the towels on the couch.

Cathy, did you delete the "rant"? I totally missed it! But no worries here -- if you need to rant, this is an excellent place for it!
Or was it just the one line about "big words"? That wasn't much of a rant, LOL.

BTW -- dh always HATED it when I googled something to see if he was right. Oh my goodness. He really had a thing about me "trying to prove him wrong" all the time. And I guess sometimes I really did, and I regret that now... but sometimes he would have something in his head that I just had to check out because I couldn't believe he was remembering it right. SMH. Sometimes it certainly wouldn't make any difference who was right or wrong, and I should have just let it go.

Nancy -- I slept a couple hours yesterday on the couch and when I woke up, I wasn't sure what day it was!

LucyLee I deleted most of the rant. I just feel out-of-sorts and/or crabby today. I've also felt really cold today. I have done very little around here today as well.
