I have some of my best phone conversations while I am driving. Most driving attention is with your eyes, so talking doesn't truly take your attention away. There are also times when I call someone when I am parked and then I will put the vehicle in drive and spend my driving time dealing with the phone call. Most of the time I call a friend and tell them I am driving to wherever and when I get to where I am going, I will park and talk until the other person stops talking before I get out and carry on with whatever I was doing. I've never had an accident since I got this car, then again I've never had an accident in over 40 plus years of driving.

PSW has come and gone. I have stitched. I have read, I have been putting things away. Incoming DPC timeframe starts in 15 minutes.

Harriet, did you say the lawyer was in the car driving during the appointment? It's fine to talk while driving, but I'd want to be sure he made notes and followed through. I almost always take notes during any "business" type call, even setting up appointments, so I don't like it if I can't record in writing. Sometimes I send a follow up email as a summary so the others, who may be distracted, recall their part in following up.

I took care of getting the water back on for the HOA. It's a little early, but I'd rather do it now and not need it, than to have to hurry it up because we need sprinklers going. I asked two men (Prez of HOA, and chair of grounds committee) to be sure that we have it off at the meter, and check for leaks before we need it. It's off my plate, I hope.

I am nearly ready to head to my workout. I need to refill my water tumbler that I take, and I'd like to get that sticker on my car right now too.

I only got one clue, and that was distinctly hearing a turn signal, but that doesn't necessarily tell me where the lawyer was seated in the car. Who knows. This time, we learned about the travel after everyone had agreed to the time. Next time, I may say, "Now, no one's having to do this on their driving time, are they?" I think that would be reasonable. When it's just talking, it's probably fine, but we're paying for guidance in decision-making and we're bringing up unexpected topics, citing paperwork. Oh well, it's over and we do seem to have moved the ball forward.

I'm running the dishwasher, so postponing the day's laundry until later.

Wanting to spend a little of the Backyard Day in the backyard - temp has reached 59, maybe not quite time for the high, and it's a pretty day.

I remember driving DS53 around in Dallas while we were looking for a home for him to purchase. I was driving his vehicle following the real estate person because DS53 was hosting an online meeting with several executives in the company he worked at. I couldn't help but hear as they were deep into the details of problem solving and talking rapid pace. They considered it a normal thing to have meetings on the go.

When DD14 meets with her dietitian the online meeting is summarized by AI and we receive the written notes within an hour or so of the meeting.

DS17 has now been stopped EIGHT times by the various law enforcement agencies since he got his drivers license 18 months ago.
This time it was for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. The local cop followed DS17 home last night and pulled into our driveway with flashing lights. I saw the flashing lights through our house windows and went outside to check what was happening. The police checked drivers license and had a conversation with DS17 about requirement to come to a complete stop. He did not issue a citation or warning - no paperwork at all to document the event. Other than the flashing lights it was drama free.

I have been stopped twice by law enforcement agencies in the 50+ years of driving and received one ticket about 40 years ago. How many times have you been stopped for any reason?

I have been out in my backyard (and front yard!) I walked 18 minutes while talking to ds. (18 minutes is my goal this week; I am trying to increase it by 1 minute each week, and my goal is 4 days exercise/walking each week.

It is a beautiful day here today, and should be in the low 60s at game time. (DGD's first kid-pitch softball game.)

Otherwise, I haven't done much today except d2s and do Bible reading. I went to the post office. Still a little bit scared to eat before the game, but I need something. Still on the Imodium.

Did any of you read about my very dreaded, awkward phone call yesterday? Sheesh...

LadyM, I think I have had 4 traffic stops in the almost 50 years that I have been driving. At least two of those led to tickets; two I only received a warning. I've never had real "moving violation" as far as a wreck, but I have backed into a few things.
When I was in driver's ed in high school, I didn't come to a complete stop once. I'll never forget the driver's ed teacher -- he used this expression all the time -- "Whoa, whoa whoa... did you stop at that stop sign?" I said "I thought I did -- I almost did.' He said, "Do you know the difference between stopping and almost stopping?" When I shook my head no, he said, "$42.50. Whoa whoa whoa..."
(I think it was $42.50 back then. I'm not totally sure.)

I think it is illegal now in Alabama to drive with your phone in your hand. I am breaking that law all the time. I believe we are supposed to have a hands-free set up (holder, Bluetooth, etc.) if we are talking while driving.

Harriet, did you ever say what y'all were dealing with that you needed the lawyer? I'm glad it all worked out that y'all are still friends!

Hello, everyone!

Today I had church this morning, and we had a birthday celebration with cake and a card for MQ the verger afterwards. I picked up Jude's joint supplement from the vet, and then some t a couple of hours in my garden feeding my roses with their very expensive (but worth every penny IMHO) food, and then scattering slow release fertiliser on the rest of the border.

And I managed to clean out the fridge before Waitrose delivered, so I could fill it up with fresh food. Everyone has been fed, and Matilda and Jude have both had lap time.

LucyLee I always read your posts from the early morning hours. I don't always comment, but your efforts don't go unnoticed.

My 2014 car has the handsfree phone thing. There are buttons on the steering wheel, so I can push one and say "Call LucyLee" and my eyes don't have to look down at my phone. Dh's truck has the same thing. My phone is "snyc-ed" in both vehicles. One time my brother called and dh and I were both in the truck. Dh and my brother don't always agree on stuff, so to sit there and hear them chatting was interesting. Dh rarely takes his phone anywhere.
