Re: Falabella Friday @ TDD - C&C
The Falabella is an Argentine breed of small horse. It is among the smallest of horse breeds, with a height at the withers in the range 63–86 cm (25–34 in).
The horses of South America descend from Andalusian and other Iberian stock brought to the Western Hemisphere by the Spanish. In the southern part of the continent, significant numbers of these horses developed within geographically isolated conditions and by the mid-nineteenth century there were some small, inbred animals in the herds of Mapuche of southern Buenos Aires province in Olavarría, Argentina. The Falabella was originally developed in Argentina from local horses of Criollo stock, beginning in 1868 with the breeding program of Patrick Newtall. When Newtall died, the herd and breeding methods were passed to his son-in-law, Juan Falabella. He added additional bloodlines, including the Welsh Pony, Shetland pony, and small Thoroughbreds. With considerable inbreeding, he was able to gain consistently small size within the herd.
Beginning in the 1940s, a descendant, Julio C. Falabella, created a formal breed registry, the Establecimientos Falabella, now the Asociación de Criadores de Caballos Falabella (Falabella Horse Breeders Association), and worked to standardize the breed to reach a consistent height, first achieving an average size of under 100 cm (40 in) Later breeders developed the modern standard, a horse breed that averaged approximately 76 cm (30 in) in height.
The height of a fully-grown Falabella varies between 71 and 86 cm (28 and 34 in). Falabella foals are very small, standing around 30 to 56 cm (12 to 22 in) tall at birth, and maturing to their adult height by the age of three.
The Falabella has the proportions of a horse, with conformation similar to that of a Thoroughbred or Arab. The body is small and compact, with a sleek coat and a slim frame.
Bay, brown and black are the most common colors; pinto, palomino and spotted coats are less common.

Happy Friday!
Oh, hi there, Bama, you saved me from looking up a SHEM!
Yes, working from home, and are you getting ready to go to bed?
I made it till the end of the work week! Very busy, and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down any time soon. Oh well, one thing at a time! The weather has taken a turn for worse, the high today will be 8C (46F) and we've had overnight frost. Such a change from the 18C (64F) we had earlier this week! DBD is coming home today, sometimes after lunch, so it's the quiet before storm
The goal for today is clean downstairs, get some yardwork done, and also deal with some paperwork. My taxes are due end of April and I haven't even touched them, and I need to start planning our anniversary and some other stuff.

Re: Falabella Friday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and Bama!
Thank you for starting us off, Trissie. Our weather has turned colder too, I think it's probably just the "Blackthorn winter" and should warm up again soon.
Bama, those "visitors" sounded creepy. My immediate thoughts were, possibly just a couple who "want to be alone", or some sort of dealing. Oh, and my DH often doesn't look at his messages either!
Dogged, I'm sure your bread will still be delicious, with all those yummy ingredients!
Another early wake up call from Matilda - even earlier today - but I made her wait until the alarm went off before giving her something to eat. Otherwise we're going to be having midnight snacks!
Having gratefully and enthusiastically received her breakfast, she is now ignoring.me.
Note to self - try giving her a little extra in her bowl at bedtime. If she is genuinely hungry, then this should solve the problem. I can always cut her daytime food down a little so she doesn't gain weight.
Today I have a free Friday . I would like to get out into my garden, but the weather isn't looking very promising. However, there's still plenty to do inside!

Re: Falabella Friday @ TDD - C&C
Bama, that sounded really creepy. Glad you're OK. You had your dogs with you, right?
trissie, I've seen those horses before but never heard of the breed. I think they're about as tall as Fable, dd27's dog. I hope you get some down time this weekend, even if you do have things to plan.
Where is Kitty?
I just spent some time messaging with AC - some payroll, some social. She's returning this afternoon. Yay!
Last night: I made pasta with tomato mushroom sauce + roasted broccoli for dinner. After dinner was cleaned up, dh and I booked tickets to Seattle next month. Then, MZ wanted our advice on a matter, so we had a spontaneous 40 minute zoom call with her.
Today, I have an EPT interview at 9. I teach my class 11-1. In the afternoon, I'll try to get in some exercise, finish GGT for payroll, and try to finish up some things that have been on my list for a while. At 6:30, dh and I are taking dd27 to the airport. I think it's her spring break and she's visiting friends either in DC or in NYC - not sure which city. Then, we'll go out on a dinner date - either back in our own city or go to a different city.
Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe down shower
Later:
- make the bed
- reclaim the kitchen
- payroll: prep for interview
- payroll: 9 - 9:20 interview
- payroll: type up notes and my referral
- payroll: prep for IW D5
- payroll: teach IW D5
- home, lunch
- some qt
- payroll: finish GGT

- write bd card and prep for the mail

Re: Falabella Friday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning trissie - thanks for the start. MIni horses are so sweet:)
We all had overnight frost
Cute about midnight snacks for Matilda, Kittykatt... but not unexpected... Aren't cats nocturnal?
Bama that sounded creepy... I'd want some big dogs around me just for that..
helia did you get to jog yesterday?
I'm partially caught up on yesterday's posts...
I had a half a day with DD, then DGDs came over. Had two walks with dDog, and a gym class. Sufficiently tired by 8 pm...
Today ; lots to do, will post my list in a bit.
Plumber is coming this aft!
I'll be back.
Good morning LAnn

Re: Falabella Friday @ TDD - C&C
Trissie, I woke up because I got too hot under the covers so I let the dogs out. Then it takes awhile to fall back asleep.
That must be why I woke, to save you from a shem lol.
Kittykatt, hope the new plan satiates Matilda and she lets you sleep.
Helia, enjoy date night.
Hi LAnn.
Kitkat, you got a little bit of everybody yesterday. Bet you slept well last night.
Woke this morning to Beaus eye a little bloody so of course I panicked. Dh was going into town anyway so I had him take Beau to the vet. They’re there now. It’s allergies but the itching is making him scratch. She’s giving him something to help. No damage to the eye. Also getting his shots caught up. He’s due now. Poor Thumper has been howling the whole time since he left. They really are close.
I’m getting ready to go see the travel agent and find out what to do, what I’ve done, and if I’m on the right track or not.
So far I’ve done pet chores. Dh is bringing home breakfast.
The people on our driveway really bugged me. You can’t see our drive from the road. You have to go onto the neighbor’s property and be a very curious person to go further. It could be nosy teens that live around here. I don’t know our neighbors like I used to. All the originals have died off and their properties sold to people not as neighborly. They did leave and didn’t come back.
Just waiting on dh now and lurking.
