Re: Tomaru Chicken Tuesday
The Tōmaru (唐丸) is a Japanese breed of long-crowing chicken. The crow may be sustained for some 25 seconds.
The Tōmaru is thought to have originated in China at the time of the Tang dynasty; the kanji character 唐, 'tou', represents that dynasty.
The Tomaru was registered as a Japanese natural monument of Niigata Prefecture in 1939.
The Tōmaru has only one colour, black with a greenish sheen. The body is broad and compact with a full breast. The tail is held low, but higher than horizontally; although the sickle feathers may be long enough to touch the ground, this is not usually considered a long-tailed breed The feet and shanks are dark slate-grey, and the comb is single. The ears and face are red, sometimes with dark markings; in hens the face may be entirely black.

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday!
Dogged, that SHEM was thought provoking and also literally true -if I spend too long lying on the sofa on Sunday afternoons without getting up and moving every now and again, I stiffen up!
Today is supposed to be the nicest day of the week whether wise, and ... it's raining.
Still,.it might clear up later, and I have plenty to do inside!

Re: Tomaru Chicken Tuesday
Good morning, Kittykatt. Thank you for starting us off, and for another pretty chicken.
I have washed some more dishes and convinced Germane to let me do a tiny bit of grooming (sponged her eyes and did a couple of snips on her beard) which she reluctantly agreed to as I have finally cooked something that she wants to eat. The cheaper salmon was back in stock at the grocery store, so I cooked some of that for Germane tonight, and have a turkey thigh in the slow cooker for her for tomorrow. Once I got her eating, she had a good feed from her kibble dish so I can turn in with a clear conscience.
See you later.

Sleep well,. Dogged! Germane's menu is making my mouth water - I really must try and get hold of a turkey drumstick - they make a very economical and tasty roast.

Re: Tomaru Chicken Tuesday
Good morning!
Thanks for yet another interesting start Kittykatt. Who knew there were that many varieties of chickens.. I like that Chinese Proverb...
Dogged - good to hear Gourmet Germane was fed and now you can sleep:)
trissie sorry to hear about the passing of your dFIL .
I did not get back yesterday as it turned out my plan was too ambitious. All I got done was a doggy walk followed by a big nap. Then, a cup of tea on the porch (with ddog) and I managed to make a stirfry for dinner and finally ate a meal. (Appetite was gone as well)
This morning, dpup decided I had enough sleep, so she called me at 5:45... Thankfully, she is not bothered by Thunderstorms - did everything. Now, it's pouring.
Our man was supposed to come this morning for the front steps. It is partially done - and oh-so-wisely we have a tarp canopy over it cleverly attached to the railing. I don't think it will get done today.
I'm feeling better - no more fever but cough is nasty . I will start slowly and see where that takes me.
We begin with MR.

Re: Tomaru Chicken Tuesday
Good morning, KitKat! I'm glad you're starting to feel better.
It's still raining here, too. I've had a few minutes in my front garden, and then checked the water butts outside the patio doors to check they're filling up nicely after I cleared the inlet pipes yesterday (they are!
). Freddie insisted on going out for his walk, and then was quite affronted that Dnextdoorneighbour D had cut her grass yesterday, so there were no longer any long bits for him to nibble on.
I'm currently decluttering the shoe rack in the hall - winter is over now, so the boots and gloves can go back upstairs.
