Morning! up and doing laundry and my walk then out to church where i teach Sunday School. I have a presentation to do this afternoon at the historical society and I need to run into my office before that. rest of the day is relaxing and volunteer stuff.

To those who are DAR I need to look into it to see if I qualify. My ancestor was a patriot out of Boston running a ship but his son migrated to Nova Scotia before the end of the revolution. I am also a Mayflower descendent and someday I need to work on proving that.

Hi! Thank you for starting us off today Atlantic Flyer!!

The smallest cat woke me up before 6. I went back to bed and she woke me up again around 8. Although I am not happy to be up so early, I am sitting here having a hot tea and dh is sleeping, so there is some serenity here.

All 3 cats enjoyed their weekly catnip treat.
All plants have been watered. The pink violet is blooming like crazy.

Good morning

For the second morning in a row our nighttime temps have dropped into the 30's. I guess the weather had one last hurrah for winter weather before we fully switch to spring/summer weather. Thankfully the temps stayed above freezing and tender garden plants are okay.

DH has repeated the same questions and sentences several times in the last hour. Each time I respond as if it is the first time he said it. I'm sad to see him progressing in the wrong mental direction. Overall he is the same as always, but it seems he is losing small pieces of himself almost daily. It seems similar to watching a baby daily grow in abilities as they mature into a toddler & child.....but it is reversed with DH slowly losing abilities. I acknowledge these facts, but I don't want to wallow in them. Onward!

I need a focus today to get me fully embracing the day and its many blessings. Hourly challenges to the rescue to get me started with results in accomplishments and those feel-good rewards.

Good morning, friends, with whom I always look forward to being social.

I believe I've figured out (well, at least I've let a little money go, so for me that's commitment) a way to "fence" the bird nursery away from my gardening life. I'm going to stick a metal (tin?) garden sign in between for an opaque, but no-space barrier that can stand up solidly on its own. The only "work" I'll do is to first paint the back so that it's green instead of the very unfortunate bright white. I suppose it might off-gas, sigh, but at least it won't be an unnatural attention-getter on her side. So thin that I don't think it will be welcoming to other competing birds as a roost (some of my other ideas worried me when I thought of that). On our side, no words just woodsy plants pictured. Don't want anyone saying to themselves, "Oh I'll go over there close enough to read Harriet's sign."

Maybe now we won't send her hysterically flying off the nest every time we go to the planters.

It's an awful thought to think, but I wish ds would hurry and bring me those bags of soil amendment. He's done so much work and been very thoughtful but I'd already have it here if I'd just have ordered from one of the home improvement places for delivery. But then, they would just drive away. Ds will be at least partially interested in my opinion of where and how to lug it around and spread it out. Partially, lol.

An old friend of mine used to say forget the maid services, I want to hire a full-time gardener. And I get that.

Cathy, I should have known that I wasn't going to get away with getting up just for a bathroom trip early this morning. Scurried back to bed but Tobias saw that dawn was close, so the bedroom door was pushed wide, scritch, scratch. And then the Jedi mind trick stare. "This is the cat you want to feed."

LadyM, I see you as rescued by the hourly challenges, but more so by your embracing attitude of the days. You can feel good about all the blessings you are bringing, too. Not just the ones you receive - you're being used to accomplish so much importance.

Next up, making a tofu scramble for brunch.

This afternoon potting up some plants, seeing if I can nag HRH to help with cutting some hoses to size.

Happy morning here with nothing on the calendar for the day. Dh had breakfast out earlier and has gone for a massage. I was so happy to get home earlier last night than prior evenings - we probably left by 8:15ish after getting there at 6. Nice not to be out so late. We had rain move in - one reason to leave on the early side, and temps dropped overnight. High today only mid-sixties after high eighties for several days. Last night was cooler however, and breezier.

The group pavillion was air-conditioned with a rooftop deck. Hard to get seating upstairs where one could see the game, so many kids parked there. Downstairs was glass facing the field, with tables to watch games and closed circuit TVs too. We had fun, and I suspect we'll be back to see baseball here this summer.

I don't want to do much of anything today.

The last load of laundry is in the washer. I did some of the pillow case from the living room and now they are in the dryer. Dh likes to use large pillows to put under his bottom to add to the comfort of the chair and the couch/sofa.

I have also been going through some book shelves in the library and looking for stickers to remove. Some book stores will put a sticker on the front to entice you to buy a best seller. 30% OFF! $10 OFF! They get my attention. Recently I decided to try to remove the sticker as soon as I bought the book. Now I'm going through the shelves to remove proof of my bargain shopping for most of my books. Can you tell I'm bored and the house is running on auto pilot?

We are having leftover meat sauce with spaghetti tonight. I have to cook the pasta but the sauce just needs to be heated.

We had leftover salmon once when dh's Daunt Paula (of blessed memory) was here and she made a salmon salad the next day. It was delicious!

Dh and I talked over Tuesday p.m., I'm going to see if dcleaning lady could come tomorrow or Tuesday instead of later in the week...things are dusty here from pollen and dog.

I'm enjoying stamping today. I've cleaned up that desk, and did a hunt for a missing die - has not turned up. But did locate a couple of others that I thought were long time missing.

I've been doing little jobs all day, but taking lots of time to read AND I took a break from taking stickers off of books. A book store owner showed me how to clean the outer jacket of hard cover books almost 10 years ago. I still use his method. (A tiny bit of lighter fluid on a soft cloth.) I did a lot of books before dh woke up. Now I'm going to have a hot tea.

It snowed here for a few minutes this afternoon. Windows are open, furnace is shut off. We had a 70 F day yesterday with sunshine. When it was snowing it was 50 degrees. Weather page said it was a rain/snow mix. It lasted less than 10 minutes and melted as it hit the ground. I told dh we better get the shovels out. We both laughed because it always snows in April.

Slow day here too. Drank my coffee in bed while watching the tv. Always a treat.

Did some laundry and spent some of the morning reading outside before it got too hot.

LadyM … I know exactly how you feel Hugs!

AF… I am a direct descendant of the Mayflower but the process to become a member of their society is daunting. I have the ancestry blood line to prove it so I’m ok with that. If my son, nephews, nieces, grand children and grand nephews and nieces want to chase it, I have it set up to do so.

Was your Patriot in the RW? Don’t think it matters abt his son, but will ask for you at my next meeting.
