Re: Wendy House Wednesday
A Wendy house, in the United Kingdom, is a children's playhouse that is large enough for one or more children to enter. Size and solidity can vary from a plastic kit to something resembling a real house in a child's size. Usually there is one room, a doorway with a window on each side, and little or no furniture other than what the children improvise.
The original was built for Wendy Darling in J. M. Barrie's 1904 play, Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. Wendy was shot by the Lost Boy Tootles after arriving in Neverland, so Peter Pan and the Lost Boys built a small house around her where she had fallen. It was inspired by the wash-house behind Barrie's childhood home in Kirriemuir , and constructed like a tent with a mossy green roof so that it could be erected quickly.
Toy manufacturers soon created replicas of the stage Wendy house, which have become a standard toy found in British gardens ever since.

Re: Wendy House Wednesday
Good morning, everyone, and happy Wednesday!
Helia, yesterday was a very full day for you, especially with the time change. A walk definitely sounded preferable to a jog!
L.Ann, I'm glad all the tests have gone well for DD.
(((Gma))), your tooth sounds very painful! Bit I'm sure the water jet cleaner was effective..(DDeparted Trifle had a similar treatment for an abscess on the back of her neck, and her healing was smooth and uneventful.)
Dogged, that's very good that Germane finally "allowed" you to run your errands!
Today we have another sunny start. DH goes to the office, and I'm hoping for some time in my garden. A walk would be good, and my kitchen needs it's weekly clean. So, hopefully, just a "normal" Wednesday for me!.

Re: Wendy House Wednesday
Up and at 'em -- and already the todos are piling up.
BUT - the sun is shining and it is forecast to get up to 76*F.
Enjoy your time outdoors in the sunshine, Kitty! That is a cute toy house. I remember that sort of toy house, though my family never had one.
Last night, we were 6 for dinner. Dd30 smoked 2 chickens in her smoker. It was good. In the evening, I got a start on my slides for class today.
Today, I'm going in to payroll early - to be present to help if needed with start of the session stuff. While I'm there, I'll work on GGT tasks. Then, I'll teach my own class 1:40 - 3:30. I also hope to get in a jog, finish unpacking my suitcase, and get groceries. Dinner will be chicken cacciatore with green salad.
The later schedule at payroll this session is nice in that (1) it will give me time to jog in the morning as the days get warmer, and (2) it means I don't need to stress in the evenings re: prepping for class the next morning. Its main disadvantage is that I won't get home until 4pm-ish.
Next:
- back exercises

- JOG
Later:

Re: Wendy House Wednesday
Good morning!
Thanks for the start Kittykatt! I never heard of Wendy House - now I know!
How is your garden doing? Kitties? Is the bite all healed?
Gma I just read about your ordeal with that tooth... (I had a similar one some 35 years ago...) Hoping it heals without further issues or pain.
Just read about LAnn with DD at NIH. Amazing that DD handles it so well. It must be exhausting for both of you. (((((()))))))
helia - you're back after baby visit:) Looks like your day is already booked! Enjoy the jog.
I haven't quite caught up with posts... but will try
I did not get to post for a bit - need to stay on top of things, so I'd better:)
Cough is still an issue although my idea to take Claritin has reduced the frequency and the intensity. I did make it to the gym last night for a class for the first time in two weeks.
The sun is shining: we should have a pleasant day in the teens. (C)
I will start w MR
then
print for DD
take pup for walk

Re: Wendy House Wednesday
Oh, you still have your cough. Take care of yourself, kitkat. Maybe we are weather twins today. Sunshine - it makes a big difference! Baby I is just adorable! I think they're coming here for a visit in June, so we'll get to see her again soon. She will have changed a lot by then.
I hope you're tooth is mending well now, Gma. That sounds painful.
Thinking of L Ann and DD33 and their last day of testing!!

Re: Wendy House Wednesday
Morning all. I somehow can't seem to keep up here lately. Last week was busy. With music . Thinking this week should be as busy or not as I want it to be.
Gma that sounds painful. I hope you can find a little slower time to heal it up. Not too likely it seems.
Kittykat did I miss someone gave you a bite? I seem to think something happened while I missed cuop a couple weeks ago.
Lann I hope there's some good info and help come out of all that testing. That will help dd and others with that very rare condition.
Hope you feel better soon kitkat. That cold/ flu bug in some cases just seems to hang on for weeks this year. Hopefully you kick that cough soon.
Bama how nice dd is close now. Hopefully the job interview is good.
Did I get everyone? I hope so? Still haven't seen much of trissie. Hopefully things are going to settle down for her soon.
Anyway I think I'm doing ok. Today is off. Morning is booked. School run. Physio appointment and straight to bible study. Then afterwards nothing on the schedule. What do I want to do with my afternoon. Ds has rugby so I have 1 till 5 ish free. Probably a few groceries. Some things in town. A little cleaning. Music.
And I have 1 more row till my second panel of my crochet sweater shirt is same size as the first. I want to pin the shoulders together and see if I like the length . It was supposed to be a tee shirt. I thought the yarn was the right thickness but it seems heavier than I thought. It calls for short sleeves and kinda hip length but try as I will to get it to not get bigger. It seems wide on me. Maybe it needs to be a few rows longer
And play with the sleeve length.
Then I need to find that other yarn. In moms craft stuff there is a started baby blanket. White. A really pretty stitch. But it's the first 10 inches or so. Not done. I found the rest of the yarn in her drawer. And another stash of pattern books. Didn't look through but hopefully the pattern she was using cause out of sentimental value I want to finish it for dd. For my little coming dgd. Ooh I am so excited. Almost doesn't feel real we were kinda expecting it to be boy.
Ohh and I have a declutter goal.. a garage sale put on by my sister friend W. For her mission trip. I have some things I can donate and maybe find more.
All of that will keep me busy today... or not. First off hopefully one step closer to helping my neck and arm feel better at Physio this morning. She did adjust the neck enough to relieve the constant headache. My arm is very painful in any position other than down or forward. It all comes off that shoulder blade muscle.
Anyway now I've written a novel again.
Basic routines.
A bit more qt.
At least read my study guide before bible study.
School run 830
Hmmm maybe grocery store have under an hour to Physio at 930
Bible study 1030

Re: Wendy House Wednesday
hoping the physio will help quickly and long term, lauralind!
helia, do you teach all afternoons this session, or just Wednesdays are afternoon classes?
persisting cough is annoying, kitkat! did you maybe have covid? a lot of people I know are struggling with a "bad cold with lingering cough" this year and some of them tested positive for covid.
enjoy the normal Wednesday, kittykatt, they are soon coming to an end, aren't they?
I'm alive and let's leave it at that. I've been holding the fort at home while DH is with his mom - I have a bad cold and can't risk getting her sick. In a lot of ways, it's actually harder than when he's gone on long business trips, because then we just settle into a routine after a couple days and deal with things as they come. This whole "two days gone, then a day or two home, then gone again", especially since when he is home, he stays at work till very late to do things that can't be done remotely, is much harder to navigate. And there is no end in sight, and everything is Complicate with a capital C.
I'd love to run and hide, but I don't really think I can, so next best is to grab some cheese with that whine in one hand and a dustcloth in the other and hope that even if dusting won't solve my problems, at least it will get things clean!
