Both of the teens are trained and able to clean the bathrooms similar to myself. We know what to do but there is just the matter of getting it done regardless of the frequency. I suppose my biggest decision is do I want the bathrooms cleaned weekly or daily?
Weekly considerations...
** If the choice is weekly then there is the knowledge and acceptance, the bathrooms will not be as clean 6 days of the week. All 4 of our bathrooms get used multiple times a day. We don't try to be slobs, but continual use shows signs.
** If weekly, then the decision can be made WHO will do the once-a-week cleaning. Hiring it done sounds easy at first until I think about what it involves. Do I want a stranger coming into my home to clean? I might be able to hire someone I know (not a stranger) but it would change our relationship from friend to employer/employee.
** Weekly time consideration if I hire someone - Do I want another weekly appointment on my calendar to prepare for a cleaner? If the cleaner is here for an hour that cuts into my time.
** weekly time consideration if I do the cleaning myself - I am 99% sure I can deep clean a bathroom in under 15 minutes. Four bathrooms x 15 minutes is one hour of my time to do weekly cleaning.
** Weekly cost to hire someone - I expect it would be a couple hundred a month...maybe more.
Daily cleaning considerations....
** if the decision is to clean bathrooms daily then that eliminates hiring someone. There is no way i want a cleaner in my home every day.
** If the decision is to clean bathrooms daily, then it will most likely be me doing the cleaning the majority of the days. I would be the person cleaning my bathroom and also cleaning DH bathroom. I could require the teens to clean their own bathrooms every day....but that comes with me staying up with their follow through. When the teens are at school or work it would be easier just to do it myself. They could do it 2-3 days a week.
** Daily cleaning time consideration. I am confident that 3 minutes or less of focused cleaning a day will keep the bathroom fresh and eliminate the need for weekly deep cleaning. 3 minutes per bathroom x 4 bathrooms is 12 minutes a day. 12 minutes daily x 7 days = 84 minutes a week. Minus 18 minutes of cleaning the days the teens clean their own bathrooms. 84-18=66 minutes. Is it worth 66 minutes of my time each week to have 4 clean bathrooms?

SHeeeeezzze ...WHY do I over analyze everything! I am thinking waaaaay too hard on this. I'm going to sleep on it and make the decision tomorrow and get on with my life.

I have a 3rd cousin one of my cousins kids that helps my dsis with her yard & getting wood.
The latest addition has been to help him get familiar with cooking he's not been allowed in the kitchen much.
The kids pick at each other at home.
So... he can go in the kitchen and cook a bit now and will be learning a few things as he is graduating this spring.
Today they are doing mower maintenance on a riding mower.

I've not done the mowing waiting for better weather it's a bit on the breezy side.
But the storm went around us.

The bread is excellent wishing I would have done 2 loaves one plain and one herb.

More bathroom thoughts...

Every second day for the teens to do their own bathroom. Give them both bathroom shower squeegies (sp?). Have them give the toilet a quick squirt before they have their shower or bath. Before they get out of the shower or bath, have them use the squeegie (sp?) thing on the walls. Tell ds it's like cleaning a car wind shield. Rinse out their sinks before they leave the room, which would be after a quick s/s with the toilet brush in the toilet. Polish the taps and they are done. Have competitions to see who can do it faster, or more times per week, etc. Winner gets a prize at the end of the month or something.

Now I'm going to s/s our toilet and do a real quick shine of the tap. I'm also going to fill the dishwasher and turn it on.

Later (@ 7:12) bathroom toilet, sink, mirror and counter are all done. Now for the dishes.

Later than that... just found out dh's best friend is coming over tomorrow morning. Good thing the dishes are done and the bathroom is clean. I just have to sweep and mop the floors. I just finished another book, so I have the next one in the series (J. Patterson "Private" series about a Private Investigation team with offices around the world. Each book is a different country.)

Eventually I did have some delays posting, too. Hmmm... ..

So, when posting in J and C I put a lot into one post to make sure it got there. Copied before hitting submit, too - glad of that, although I had no problem "reversing" back into it, really. I hope whatever is going on is brief. Many of us do seem to have been able to post today.

I fell into a nap.
Ds called during that, so it was short. Enjoyed talking to him.

Outside, I readjusted some of the irrigation and watered some.

A little disappointed that a whole bunch of lab appts have been scheduled for my summer and they are all at the distant location, not near my home. I guess I'll have to make a Dreaded Phone Call and deal with this.

Tomorrow, I'm assuming my new med may be ready at the pharmacy, so maybe that can be the impetus to get us out to shop a little for some outdoor needs. We do have a grocery order arriving very early in the morning. Had no report from pharmacy so far, anyway - this med may be something that needs to be compounded since it is liquid. In fact, I bet it is, now that I think of it.

I am feeling better, Harriet! 12 hours after the shot and I can already tell it is working. I did not even take any additional meds and made it through the ballgame fine. (I did nap a little while before the game. (I was extra-chatty, even for me, LOL! Before the game started, DS warned me he could NOT keep the score book and answer me constantly! DDIL said she would just ignore me. LOL. I think we all get along pretty well, so I did not take any offense at her comment. I could tell I was a little wound-up.)
I think I will take some more cough meds, Flonase, and the saline spray before I go to bed. I also got some Vick's Vapor Shower Steamer, which I'm about to use too.

But it turned out to be an amazing game. The last time we played this team, they beat us 15-5, and they were kinda showy about it -- stealing bases after they had a 10-0 lead... just kinda taking advantage of our girls. We hear that they are a travel ball team, which means they are hand-picked, not chosen in a draft like the other teams in the league. It's like playing an all-star team and we have a few on our team who have never played at all since t-ball, and a bunch like dgd who are in their first year out of coach-pitch. The pitching is much more inconsistent, and the rules are more like high school rules.
ANYWAY -- dgd advanced to first on a passed ball on the first at-bat, and scored, and she got a good base hit the second at-bat, stole second, and scored again! (If dgd gets a stolen base, it is an event, because she does NOT run fast. Watching that play was like seeing it in slow motion. SMH.)
DGS didn't even come to the game! He was still coughing and felt bad, and said we were going to get blown out again. He couldn't believe it when we called him after the game.

We are under a tornado watch, but I think it is going north of us. (Actually, it looks like only the counties north of us are affected.) Rain may be heavy later in the night/into the morning, and then again tomorrow night. I expect the game to be rained out tomorrow. I may have dgd here with me for a while -- dgs has a Scholars' Bowl party and parents are invited.

I did not clean my bathrooms... but if I am as revved up tomorrow as I am right now, maybe I will make some progress.
I did
* reconcile the checkbook
* went to the church, made out some place cards for the hospitality room at local Job Fair tomorrow -- pastor discovered that I have (in her words) "beautiful handwriting." (It is my only talent.)
* prepared a graduation gift to mail (cash, plus a small book, which I would recommend to all of you as well -- )
* finished the laundry (except for sheets, towels and underwear) (and I need to hang today's to dry!)
(I can do that while I spend time with Dale Robertson and the Wells Fargo crew after my shower.)

The book is A Legacy of Love -- Things I learned from My Mother by Ruth Graham (daughter of Billy Graham and Ruth Bell Graham)
This book is especially applicable to young wives and mothers, but I have given it as a graduation gift to lots of young women. A lot of it could apply to anyone at any age. The first chapter is titled, "Counting the Hours that Shine." Other chapters include "Living Through Homesickness," "Loving God," and "Living a Legacy," along with "Homemaking," and "Approaching Eventide." I don't know if it is really the best gift for a 17/18 year old girl, but maybe they will hold on to it and come back to it later when certain parts of it are more applicable. I don't think it is in print anymore, but I got two from Amazon for less than $3 each. It was published in 2005!
She did another one with lessons from her father, Billy Graham, A Legacy of Faith. I recommend it also. When a dfriend's father died, I donated both books to her church library in their memory; her mother had passed a couple years earlier.
