Peekaboo, I cannot see you! But that is okay. Dr says it was a much denser cataract this time. My unexucated theory is that since this eye has perfectly normal circulation and vessels, it took a brunt of steroid damage while the other eye with a damaged vessel got less. I was first patient, through some unforseen circumstances, and caught the operating room folks at a starting point, easier-going, chatting, laughing about the music not working yet, and maybe someone should sing, etc. That, plus some familiarity by now, make me less anxious. But it really did take a longer time, with discussion about the density.
Then home again and I napped an hour. Then dr was able to see me in another city and off we went. He is pleased, explaining that this time because of more swelling it will just take longer but he predicts that I will again think of this as the better eye. I really was slow and dependent, though - no idea where curbs were. Back home again and naped until ddolder called. Then ds' children came by.
I'm touch-typing with my glue=blocker goggles on because it does fell more comfortable. But won't stay long. Just wanted to say so far so good.

Re: Teacher Appreciation Day!
Thank you, Cathy, for bringing up Teacher Appreciation Day. (I hope ddil has remembered and done something for dgd's teachers. DGD sure does love them all.)
I guess y'all can imagine who my favorite teacher was, LOL... but like Cathy, I did love all my English teachers (well, 3 out of 4 in high school. One of them may have had mental problems. One of the top three, my very favorite of all time, has passed away, but the other two are still friends of mine.) I also had a wonderful third grade teacher and a wonderful fourth grade English teacher. My fifth grade science teacher stands out in my mind too. He has since passed away also. And my kindergarten, first, and second grade teachers were very special too. My first grade teacher also taught my mother and my dh in first grade! I was a very nervous, tearful first and second grader, and those two ladies were beyond patient with me!
LadyM, your teacher was amazing! And that was awfully nice of your mom to make new dresses for her.
My dh spent a long period of time in a cast from waist down -- he had been hit by a car. This was sometime around fourth grade for him too. I think he was able to do his lessons at home and keep up, but I don't think any teacher came to help him. He said his dad had to pick him up to carry him to the bathroom.
So, today, I have done two loads of laundry, but I have not hung them up to dry (except for dgrands' clothes that were in the mix).
I was trying to avoid dust, but I ended up having to vacuum around my fireplace. I was sitting here watching TV and and heard something in the fireplace -- hard to tell what it was -- a snake? a bird? a bat? I muted the tv and listened some more, and I could finally tell that it was in a fake plant sitting there on the hearth -- but I was scared to death to let it get loose in the house. I called DS and he and dgs came over and then the thing went silent.
We carried the plant out to the porch and I kept shaking it and FINALLY, a HUGE bumblebee flew out. * whew * But in the midst of all that, I saw that all the fireplace decorations needed some vacuuming, so I did that.
DS also went into the attic and got the garbage can we had used to catch water before the roof was redone. I had to vacuum a little bit in there, some trash and sheetrock that I am pretty sure fell during the work.
Other than that, I have texted with one of my cousins -- her husband is in Atlanta having pretty serious knee surgery. He has had multiple surgeries and has developed a fungal infection, so was sent to a specialist there.
I also texted with dh's cousin, whose mother passed away last week. I also called her dad, and he sounded like he was doing pretty well, but acknowledge that it's tough. I told him that all the busy-ness that follows death is a good thing, but that he shouldn't feel rushed to do things unless he felt comfortable doing it -- that I still have dh's clothes hanging in his closet and everything pretty much like he left it. OTOH, a mutual friend told me she cleaned out her dh's closet almost immediately. I said I thought I would know when it was time to take that next step.
LadyM, we are expecting storms tomorrow. Weather report said to expect high humidity all day. I'm wondering if we will have church -- it's supposed to be at its worst just about the time we normally would be going to church.
Glad you're home and all is as expected, Harriet. (((BIG HUGS))) I do NOT envy you having to go through all this. I hope you have a speedy recovery and finally can put all this behind you!

Re: Teacher Appreciation Day!
Good evening! So good to hear everything went well for Harriet!
DC had their last final today. They said they still want to go down to school tomorrow or Thursday to get together with friends. I’ll have to check which. I have a Zoom meeting with my financial guy tomorrow afternoon, so we’ll need to work around that.
We had primary elections today. DD and I spent a chunk of this afternoon on the Vote411 website. Embarrassing
that we waited until the last minute to inform ourselves, but I highly recommend the website, run by the League of Women Voters. Enter your address (in the US), and it will find your local ballot and have links to the candidates’ answers to their questionnaire. I have the attitude that I won’t vote for someone who can’t be bothered to reply, and I was very disappointed to see that our US Representative had not. At any rate, if you’re in the US, it’s a very good source of information.
Other than that, I have been a slug. By the time we got back, it was almost, but not quite, time to get dinner started, and I made the mistake of hopping on Reddit without setting a timer.
(DH does the cooking; I need to figure out what I’m doing next week with him gone.)
Now I’m watching my baseball team, which has fallen behind. Our ups are next, and once that half inning is over, I’ll head to the treadmill and listen on the radio.
I have a cold, with cough, so I think I’m going to have to postpone Friday’s oral surgery. I shudder to think what an ill-timed cough could do. (Aside from the fact that they don’t want my cold.) I’ve got to remember to call first thing in the morning. If they get enough notice, maybe they can move up some poor soul who’s been waiting for an extraction or something. Not looking forward to how far out it’s going to be to reschedule, though.
Have a great evening, everyone! Sweet dreams!

Re: Teacher Appreciation Day!
I am happy to hear the good report Harriet posted!
I've had fish for dinner.
Got the inside swept and swept seeds outside.
Picked up the kitchen some and put away some stuff.
One more empty container is in the backyard ready to fill later in the week.
Got some knitting and reading done as well.
Have a great evening everyone.
