L.Ann, the other day I read that once you hit a certain age life is just a delicate balance of trying to stay awake and trying to fall asleep, while slowly getting worse at both, and I thought that was just on spot!
helia, I've stopped refilling the bird feeders - there's enough growing and insects for the birds to find their own lunches!

All that I managed before lunch was to clean one piece of garden furniture for oiling, but you gotta start somewhere!

birds - I think also that I have done enough to help with easy pickings for nests from last year's coir basket liners, which had begun to look as though they needed hairbrushes. I've ordered new ones . As far as we can tell, the known nest is still incubating 5. I kept the grandchildren away from it yesterday, although they really only wanted to observe. Perhaps I would be better off to know - if mother wren has lost her nest to something unforseen, I might as well plant there now.

Kittykatt I had two days "off" in store, with a "use before" (sort of) limit at the end of May, adding to the Thursday being the Ascension (religious but off day) and schools closed on Friday, it makes a mini-vacation before the long month of June.

trissie I really hope your DH gets relief from sleep / breathing trouble. One piece of furniture is a good step forward.

helia yay for unscheduled time at evening. I love Malinois dogs. Ex had one, I spent great times with her, very bright dog.

Hi Harriet ! Here the birds steal from the hay MrNG buys from a local farmer (to protect the veggie garden during winter). It's fun to watch them pick the bits and carry them away.

Pictures sorted for July. Kids watched as I arranged the pictures, made comments, we ended up watching the whole photobook (January to July) and MrNG found old boxes of pictures (paper ones) from his travels as a young adult, nice way to pass the time on a rainy Sunday.
I did a tiny bit of cleaning, and made two lunchboxes with leftover pasta from lunch. A few minutes of gardening but the rain and wet grass discouraged me.

Harriet, I actually had to look up what wrens were - up till now, I only knew WRENS as in Women's Royal Naval Service, the women's branch of the United Kingdom's Royal Navy in WW1 and WW2. Yes, some of my vocabulary knowledge (mind you, English is my second language) comes from very weird places (this would be... don't tell anybody... Downton Abbey fanfiction! )

Onto my last set outside. If I can convince myself to finish the entire chair-oiling adventure (bench+2 chairs done, 2 chairs washed and ready to be oiled, 2 chairs remaining), I won't have to remember which ones I did and which ones remain to be done. There's other stuff to still take care of, but it's the set of 6 identical chairs that's always a challenge! I can't do more than 2 at a time due to not enough space for them to dry, so it's generally an all afternoon job.

trissie your oiling session sounds pretty organized and structured. It's nice that you have a routine for that. The 'plus side' of having almost no social life (like in our family) is that we don't have furniture for the outside that needs any care - except a very old set of chairs the kids build forts with. We use the kitchen table and MrNG's office desk when we do have guests on the patio, both tables are the same heigth and width. And we bring out the foldable fabric chairs we use when camping.

Did some more cleaning, vacuumed the kids' bedrooms like every week. It reminds me I need to start the Weekly List thread. MrNG took the boys for a walk, in spite of the drizzle, so I could vacuum the LR and stairs and do some much-needed cleaning in the upstairs toilets .
I hope MrNG gets some time before midnight to have a look at my CV for the job offer. I can prepare it and send it tomorrow morning aounr 7am, it will make me look like an early-worm person, not bad...

Hello, all! I am back up and have returned my car to the rental company. That was my main goal for the day, and the only other goal is to reduce the chaos. Anything that I get done will help with that.
I think that Germane is exhausted after her big trip. She is happily sleeping it off in her chosen spot in the bathroom.

Thanks, trissie! I am sorry for your poor sleep night. It makes it harder to find patience during the day. I hope that the sleep lab finds a good solution for your dh--before you resort to the pillow solution.

Thanks, Kittykatt. It's very considerate of you to stay home to protect the health of the seniors in the church. I'm sure that they miss you there.
My db has an ongoing war with the ants, too. At home, I normally leave Germane's wet food plate out overnight in case she gets hungry, and then dump it in the morning. I did this at my db's apartment, and the next morning he found an impressive gathering of ants all over her food. I was all apologetic, but my nephew said to me "Look, if he bought a vacuum cleaner for the specifi purpose of vacuuming up the ants, I don't think that you caused this."

We had a lovely time. My son in law hooked up my new hose and we still had time to chat and set up the new echo they got me for Mother’s Day. Then we had brunch and DD33 and I went shopping for the food pantry.

Happy Mother's day to all. Thanks for starting us off, Doggedly, and welcome home to you and Germane.
no time to cuop atm
was awakened at 0645 by dfBS who was haivng an issue with her right hand - I went to her house, assessed her, ruled out a couple things, and decided that she needed to be seen at the hospital. I was able to transport her, so we avoided an ambulance ride. They decided that she needed to stay for at least 24 hour observation, so that freed me.
DS and grandson came and brought me a basket of planted flowers and a new big broom to sweep the garage and patio. They don't like my old one Ddil has to work 12 hour shift today, won't be home until about 9pm.
I'm almost done cleaning of interior of dfBS car - another friend of hers borrowed it late last autumn, returned it muddy and dirty inside. It was too cold to clean it all winter, so that's my afternoon job today. Then I'll go to the local car wash for the outside. There is salt from winter on it that needs to get cleaned off.
(DfBS is very luck to have me; She has promised that I will get the car when she dies, but I'm not counting on anything. )
It's cooling off outside, so I better get to the car wash, then return her car to her house, feed her kitties, and get mine home.
