Maasai Mara, sometimes also spelt Masai Mara and locally known simply as The Mara, is a large national game reserve in Narok County, Kenya, contiguous with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is named in honour of the Maasai people, the ancestral inhabitants of the area, who migrated to the area from the Nile Basin. Their description of the area when looked at from afar: "Mara" means "spotted" in the Maa language because of the short bushy trees which dot the landscape.

Maasai Mara is one of the wildlife conservation and wilderness areas in Africa, with its populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs and African bush elephants. It also hosts the Great Migration, which secured it as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, and as one of the ten Wonders of the World.

The Great Migration usually happens in July depending on weather as the wildebeest moves in large numbers crossing the Mara River from Tanzania.

The Greater Mara ecosystem encompasses areas known as the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Triangle, several Maasai group ranches, and Maasai Mara conservancies.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off!

Another beautiful day here today. DH is WFH (due to the as yet unnamed office infestation) I have a nurse appointment at 11 am (postponed from last week) a d I need to start getting g the garden/ back steps/ hard standing etc cleared in preparation for painter J who is supposed to be come to paint the house next week (exact date still unspecified, but we did manage to make contact yesterday evening). The garden bin is emptied tomorrow, so it would make sense to get rid of the things that have died today!

I also need to give upstairs a really good deep clean, and, if possible get to he church APCM this event. This last may be too optimistic, but we shall see.

Back home again. It's cold and windy (definitely the first day of the Ice Saints ' visitation!) but Fred has had his walk and I've taken the rubbish out. Next - today's job for the garden prep.

Humourous note: today's nurse said we can leave the dressing of "if I can keep it clean and away from any dirt". Told her that with the garden prep I have to do before I comes there is a zero chance of that happening! She understood and applied a new dressing. I dont think she was too happy about it , but at least she does realise I have a life and things I have to do, even if the timing is unfortunate!

I didn't mention licks from cats that are an occupational hazard of living in our house. Probably just as well!

Must tell you: this is the weekend when we start planting in our area. Supposedly, the danger of frost will be gone.
(We had, I think, 3 frost warnings this past week... maybe we are done?)
Hope the appt. goes well.

I did not get here yesterday - just peeked in - saw Dogged is back where she belongs:)

We did the 10 K ... I managed to walk my dpup before, bc I knew that after I would not... It was a chilly day but no rain:) I'm proud of my DGkids!
Heating pad is doing its job for me- this time, on hip flexors:).
