The South Downs National Park is England's newest national park, designated on 31 March 2010. The park, covering an area of 1,627 square kilometres (628 sq mi) in southern England, stretches for 140 kilometres (87 mi) from Winchester in the west to Eastbourne in the east, through the counties of Hampshire, West Sussex and East Sussex.

The national park covers the chalk hills of the South Downs (which on the English Channel coast form the white cliffs of the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head) and a substantial part of a separate physiographic region, the western Weald, with its heavily wooded sandstone and clay hills and vales. The South Downs Way spans the entire length of the park and is the only National Trail that lies wholly within a national park.

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday!

Laura, you're right and our climates are very different, :D but it should be ok to sow seeds now.. As for the plants you've bought, if might be an idea to harden them off for a week is it you're still getting frosts - bring them outside during the day, and then out them under cover at night. A lot of the things you mentioned I leave out all year, so they probably could withstand a degree or so of frost, but only.once they're used to outside temperatures! When you do plant, make sure you water them well, to ease their shock!

Gma, I'm glad Mr VKM came to help you with the garden.

Dogged, sometimes our bodies say"enough" and we need to listen to them! Germane knows exactly what she needs to do to get your attention!

Today will be church and another celebration of Ascension Day, for those who couldn't come on Thursday. I'm also hoping to meet the new lady who has offered to help with the coffees l and I need to remember the cat food for DF PM and the butter for DFE!. And I need to talk to EW if she's at church, to find out what her plans are -rumour has it she's moving to Scotland in June, so obviously will be giving up the coffees.

After church, I'll visit DF E for coffee, and then home.to.do lunch.

How nice that you have new parks being established in the UK, kittykatt!
lauralind, the thing is - I am a lawyer. And a very, very good one (I don't do false modesty  ) - so generally, I handle all the legal affairs of myself and our family. To say I need to bring another lawyer on board is kinda admitting defeat :-)

Sunday. I was so exhausted last night that I was out at 11pm, so sleeping in till 8:30 gave me good 9.5 hours of sleep. Yay! Sun is shining, the garden calls (I have many seedlings that need to make it in the ground), and the garden furniture still needs oiling - I have a 3 piece (table+2 chairs) set for the balcony, the table, 2 small folding chairs and the pool lounge to go.

Good morning Trissie! I don't think you're admitting defeat, but rather being wise. Outting it another way, if you were a brain surgeon, you'd almost certainly still call a heart specialist to deal with someone's open heart surgery! :D

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

kittykatt, thanks for the start. Have a good time at church, I hope you remembered to bring the butter for your 100yo DF.

trissie, glad you had a restful night, wishing you a good time in the garden and hoping you enjoy it !

Never made it back yesterday. Reading all the comments and experiences about aging parents, I'm glad my DM can still handle my father without us children needing to help, mostly. SOmetimes they ask for advice on technical things by email, and I'm not always sure they take all the medical appts they should, but most of them - and there's no way to force them anyway.
Yesterday I wasn't very productive, read this and that, procrastinated. A trip to the library, some time with the kids, but they spent a long time on screens  even if we don't count the family movie screen time. We watched Pirates of the Caribbean / the Black Pearl, I hadn't realiazed they could enjoy that movie already, at 7yo and 10yo.

TADAs
stayed late in bed
bfast with DS10, DS7 didn't eat
time looking at government website to calculte pensions - a bit depressing, with so much kid-related leave, and some unemployment
CUOP

TODO at 12.30
see if MrNG needs help with lunch - he bought royal seabream that he has to scale and gut
check if kids are dressed and teeth brushed
make adult plans for the afternoon : photobook, gardening, set things up for the week
also
try and keep the screens off this afternoon
make list of to-dos, later tonight

kittykatt, but even as a brainsurgeon, you will know for sure, that there are good doctors and bad doctors, especially if you spend a lot of your time dealing with something that "a" doctor missed when it would have been easy to treat - and was easy to spot! :-)
Frenchie, is your father also suffering from early memory loss, or does he have other health issues? You know, DFIL was doing just fine managing DMIL till his sudden death and here we are :-(

Glad you got some longer hours of sleep, trissie! Enjoy your gardening time today!
Sometimes you need a less productive day, FFB.
Kitty, I hope church was edifying and the post-church meetings were helpful. What is on your lunch menu today?

Yesterday afternoon, dh and I helped AA move. Then, I did a few things around the house - got the kitchen back in order, packed up the pack 'n play crib and moved it down to the play room, did a load of laundry. I got 2 snail mail bills paid, ordered new checks, and got 2 graduation cards + checks ready for AT and DK. Then, I spiffed myself and went to CG1. I got home from that around 8:30. They were still going.

Today, I am up to jog before church (and the heat) - but I don't really want to be up. I was awake for about an hour last night, so I didn't get quite enough sleep. I'm starting this day anyway. In addition, I'm being reminded that I forgot to get milk yesterday, as we're now out and I'm drinking my coffee with a T of half and half that is a bit gloppy. I've thrown the rest out. LOL! --It's not a very auspicious start to my day.

It will be hot today, a high of 83 (28.3C).
