May 2026 - Declutter and Organization

Post by Harriet »

Chat here about how YOU schedule decluttering - your idea may help someone else. All organizing tips appreciated!

Friends here are great encouragers because no matter where you are from pigpen to paradise :) , we've all been there (spending very little time in the paradise part, but still).

It helps to stay aware of where you want to declutter and organize next. Then when you have the time to give, you can go right to that space and get started right away. Your planning might be on paper (3x5s, calendars, project trackers) or online, or just sharing your priorities with us and staying accountable.

You may want to try consistently decluttering in areas ahead of your cleaning schedule. If that is helpful, ONE potential calendar of rounds through our homes is in the Cleaning Focus forum, and declutting a week AHEAD of upcoming cleaning week seems to work well to make things easier, with clearer surfaces for cleaning.

It's May! Ready, set, go!

I have a win already for this month yea!
Found some yard work guys to take the old mower for parts.
So happy I remembered the bag and
a spare blade that was unopened still in the wrapper!
Yea!

DgsW (our green-eyed boy, who is getting too tall for that name, maybe) has been helping with decluttering here. It is hard to decide to delegate, isn't it? He uses their 4-wheeler to handle some things. At times, I've noticed he misunderstands what I want done. There is some furniture-moving that his ddad, ds, tells us not to tackle without him (moving between storage building and house, and dh knows how he wants things). That's been waiting a while, but I don't want to push, because ds is so busy.

HRH "decluttered" a poison sumac vine that suddenly appeared climbing on an oak tree at our front/side yard. In other words, it is dislocated from the earth, lol, not taken down. I intervened and insisted that it be left as "clutter" until it is dead, dead. I don't need to be taking him to the doctor for that.

I have been working on seeds seeds and more seeds from the big maple tree out front.
Sweeping raking up seeds in to piles to bag up later... rains yesterday put a stop to that how ever.
The piles are still there.

I did a planner reset and got old pages out of one and moved some to a diff. planner.
Moved wts. out of Liv. room as well.
Dining table got cleared off yea!
Progress is slow but wind & rain stalled out my outside progress.

I have a small table I brought in for a painting project that done so it can go back out
onto the deck now. The side table will go back out by the lawn chair when weather shapes back up.
