Sea turtles (superfamily Chelonioidea), sometimes called marine turtles, are reptiles of the order Testudines and of the suborder Cryptodira. The seven existing species of sea turtles are the flatback, green, hawksbill, leatherback, loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, and olive ridley. Five of the seven species are listed as threatened with extinction globally on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The remaining two are not considered to be threatened with extinction, one of which, the flatback turtle, is found only in the waters of Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia.

Sea turtles can be categorized as hard-shelled (cheloniid) or leathery-shelled (dermochelyid).[8] The only dermochelyid species of sea turtle is the leatherback.

Sea turtles can be found in all oceans except for the polar regions. The flatback sea turtle is found solely on the northern coast of Australia. The Kemp's ridley sea turtle is found solely in the Gulf of Mexico and along the East Coast of the United States.

Sea turtles migrate to reach their spawning beaches, which are limited in numbers. Living in the ocean therefore means they usually migrate over large distances. All sea turtles have large body sizes, which is helpful for moving large distances. Large body sizes also offer good protection against the large predators (notably sharks) found in the ocean.

In 2020, diminished human activity resulting from the COVID-19 virus caused an increase in sea turtle nesting. Some areas in Thailand saw an abnormally high number of nests, and Florida experienced a similar phenomenon. Less plastic and light pollution could explain these observations.

I never made it back yesterday, as Painter J confirmed he is.coming.today at 8am to start painting the house! Fortunately I had my list of everything I needed to do to to get the garden ready. DH was supposed to help in the evening, but he was out , so my back and knees were.not happy - those big pots are heavy! And Ive used every single container I could find, to store as much water as possible from the water butts -they're going to have to be moved (not my job!) and the less water in them,.the lighter they are. There's probably something.Ive forgotten, but at least I've made an effort. And I think we're going to have a few days of dry, settled weather .

I'm up early so I can get otd to WW on time. My scale says that my weight has dropped a little. That is encouraging.

Today, like yesterday, is fairly scheduled with 5 meetings/ appointments for a total of 3.5 hours. In between those, I'd like to do some payroll (collect edits in the IR course pack and email them to CM and finalize grades), do sheet and towel laundry, and get clean sheets on the bed. I need to return a call to the lawyer and message LH (payroll) and call regarding scheduling yet another solitary and specific census bureau survey I've been chosen to participate in. Have I just been punished for being a nice and responsible citizen? Also, I never refilled the bird feeder. It's been almost 2 weeks. . .Though I'm meeting with AS to work out at the gym, a walk might be nice as well. It looks like it will be sunny today!

It was funny to see all the jackets back on people yesterday, after the a couple of 30 C days... I'm not complaining: it's NOT freezing, snowing - we can walk safely, I can sit on my porch with my coffee:) - it's fine.

Morning kittykatt and helian. It is cooler and overcast here today. We could use rain…. Maybe tonight. Yes, it is the Kuang book, KitKat. I have heard good things about it but it is long which these days seem to be hard for me to commit to. I do Goodreads and I have been doing the challenges to expand the types of books I read and chose it for the Marathon book challenge. I am not taking any physical books on our trip to increase space and I have that one on my kindle from unlimited so I figure if I don’t finish it before I go I will have a lot of time on the plane.

Good morning / good afternoon, Helia, KitKat and L.Ann.

Helia, yes, you're right, and the house is being painted as we speak. Today is 21C (so an ideal temperature, sunny and, most importantly, DRY! Congratulations on the weight loss!

KitKat, yes it's the exterior of the house that's being painted - hence the long wait for the weather to stop raining and warm up.

So, L.Ann, did you and Little Bit reach a compromise for the day's activities?

I'm back home after a good service, a nice chat with DF PM, and a successful trip to the vet for meds and food. N is making very good progress on the house. J apparently turned up when I was out, but has gone again - I've no idea when they will finish the job - possibly tomorrow/ Saturday/ next week? And I'm not really worried, as the weather is set to stay dry for the next few days.

This afternoon I really need to do something -maybe clean the fridge? BIL is coming to stay tomorrow for the weekend - not good timing, as I like as few extra people around during house painting, for obvious reasons! Still, it is what it is. I didn't pick up biscuits, but I remembered we have coffee and walnut cake in the tin, and N was very happy with a slice of that. Not sure how long the cake will last as J is coming tomorrow and bringing K with him, but I'll walk to the shop and pick up biscuits then, together with chocolates for Dnextdoorneighbour D as a little "thank you", and a birthday card for DF HT, who we're seeing on bank holiday Monday.
