Re: Berthe Morisot Monday @ TDD - C&C
Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot (French: [bɛʁt mɔʁizo]; 14 January 1841 – 2 March 1895) was a French painter, printmaker and a member of the circle of painters in Paris who became known as the Impressionists.
In 1864, Morisot exhibited for the first time in the highly esteemed Paris Salon, listed as a student of Joseph Guichard and Achille-Francois Oudinot. Her work was selected for exhibition in six subsequent Salons until, in 1874, she joined the "rejected" Impressionists in the first of their own exhibitions (15 April – 15 May 1874), which included Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley. It was held at the studio of the photographer Nadar. Morisot went on to participate in all but one of the following eight impressionist exhibitions, between 1874 and 1886.
Morisot was married to Eugène Manet, the brother of her friend and colleague Édouard Manet.
She was described by art critic Gustave Geffroy in 1894 as one of Les trois grandes dames, 'The three great ladies', of Impressionism alongside Marie Bracquemond and Mary Cassatt.

It's female painters week! I actually saw Berthe Morisot's work in Musee d'Orsay last summer and was rather impressed - never heard of her before, but boy she was GOOD!

Thank you for an interesting start, trissie. I had not heard of her either, but liked the painting in the link. I am done with productive things for the day. Have a good day at work!

Re: Berthe Morisot Monday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I really like the work of the French impressionists ( although I don't know much about them!) so it's going to be a good week.
Sleep well, Dogged!
I stayed out in the garden I til nearly 10 pm last night. At this time of year it stays light enough to see for that long, and, if course when the street lights came on I had enough light to see to clear up. This is one reason why it's my favourite time of year.
I managed to get the hose connected in the front garden, watered my pots in the back garden, and also pulled out those forget-me-nots that had gone over. There's still plenty left that look ok for now, but they'll probably need pulling out over the next few days.
Today is a bank holiday ( traditionally Whit Monday - the day after Pentecost, but back in the 1970s the government decided to move it to the last Monday in May). It's going to be another hot (30C) day, so this morning I'm going to finish cleaning upstairs at the front of the house ( which should be reasonably.cool as it's still in the shade), then after lunch we're going to see DF HT to celebrate her birthday. I'm planning to spend time in my garden this evening again, when temperatures have cooled somewhat.

Re: Berthe Morisot Monday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning:) Happy Monday!
The sun is (finally) shining and it's not freezing outside
Thanks for the start trissie. I looked at the title, and, thought, "who?"
I checked the link - and I'm glad I did. Nice! So much to learn, so little time...
A good quote as well... I'd add: we are the construction workers.
Hope you have a pleasant week.
Kittykatt - good luck with the roof!
A quiet day today, maybe, for you LAnn?
I have one class tonight -
Planning some work outside - as well as part of WHB
We'll start with MR
(meds/D2S/pup walk/ breakfast for all)

It’s a cloudy supposed to be rainy Memorial Day. It is one of the few days DD39 and her DH are off so I don’t have Little Bit.
Here are some pictures of the flower farm I went to https://goldpetalfarms.com/?gad_source= ... JoQAvD_BwE
