I've dusted those planned Focus cleaning areas. Swept where Swiffer was needed because of low/tight furniture spaces.

I had bought a new indoor soft-bristle angular broom, O'Cedar(?), inexpensive but nice I think. HRH put it together for me and I've just started using it. Have never had one with a specific design for stepping on the dustpan to press it down to the floor, which is probably smart - we'll see, since you are still reaching down to the floor to pick it up. It did well through den and hallway, so that's a small win.

The other indoor broom is not so bad, but will be relegated now to the mudroom only.

Now time to admit to myself that my outdoor broom got ruined, I think. Watching those bristles to see if they can get over being bent.

I'm here in Fort Wayne. I can always go home early if I'm having a terrible time. Checked into hotel about 2 p.m., have relaxed since then. Need to do some work figuring out what I'm researching tomorrow, lol. Or perhaps I'll go to the library and dedicate my time to writing, either way it's time of my own and that should be beneficial.

Rain yesterday was horrible in places. Moving slowly, cars pulling over because of hard rain and no visibility ahead, accidents. I was looking forward to going to the Buffalo Trace distillery gift shop to see what they had available, and possibly buy for dh, but the day got later and later and it's 20 or so miles off the interstate, so that didn't work out.

Just looked at my email and a friend/colleague from the accountability group is here and looking for a place to eat and dinner partners tonight. I've already ordered Doordash for later because online it said the hotel restaurant was closed today; was just downstairs and it's not.

Twins' Mom I am so glad you persevered with your journey. I know that driving in bad weather is hard and very tiring. A good night's sleep and better weather on the second day is always good.

I had a good night's sleep last night after a busy work day around here yesterday. It's kind of boring today, but I got things done outside of the house today, with lots of errands checked off my list for today. Dh now has more pain in both knees and less desire to go outside. He wanted to go out and smell the lilac bush but it's starting to lose it's flowers now.

It has been a gorgeous day here. I'm sad that dh didn't go outside to enjoy any of it.

DBro & DSIL came to visit and stayed a couple hours. They brought a big sack of meat with them because their freezers weren't big enough to hold everything they picked up from butcher today. They normally wouldn't have processed this calf but it was born blind and kept getting hurt. They were forced to move up the timetable which resulted in too much meat for their freezer space. I appreciate them sharing their meat abundance with us.

This afternoon DH and I left the house for the first time in 48 hours. We got drinks, some hamburgers, and a few groceries. DH seemed to handle it well.

I guess y'all can figure out what I've been doing all day... the best laid plans and all that.
When I took dgs home, dgd came running out to the car asking if she could spend the night tonight. How do you turn down a sweet face like that?
BUT -- I told her she would have to entertain herself, that I had things to do. It has been a reasonably successful day.
All the laundry is done, the bathrooms have been s/s, and I picked up a Wmart order (and she helped unload the car. She also s/s one of the baths.)
However... she also kicked over her lemonade while climbing from the front seat to the back seat at Subway... and that was a HUGE mess...
and (in the interest of entertaining herself) she played in the rain and puddles and got mud all over the carport, which was another huge mess that I will not know the full effect of until tomorrow when it is daylight. I THINK we got it cleaned up pretty well.

I'm so glad LordM had a better day! And poor (((Sam)))... those birds are scary!

I hope things improve for your outing, Twins!

Harriet, my regular outdoor broom is HORRIBLE. But good for sweeping very muddy areas, I think. I certainly can't do it (the broom) any further harm. I am glad I bought the push broom for the carport and porch though, and I hope tonight's mud didn't mess it up too bad.

Nancy, after her escapade in the rain, dgd took a shower and washed her hair. I had to help her rinse it, and I hope we got the soap out. Her hair is a little past shoulder length, and fairly thick, and it is almost impossible to rinse it out! I avoid washing it as much as possible when she is here. I used the shower attachment so I could get the spray right on her head, but still... smh...

Mystery, the American Legion here had some kind of event this morning; when dgs and I went out there were a LOT of cars there, a lot of them parked in the grass. We didn't do anything special and I never heard from my cousins until late in the day -- one called to tell me about another one who has given up his coaching duties at the middle school. Kind of a snafu going on there and he is pretty upset. She did not mention being at his mom's house or anything. Actually, she was talking about them having one of those events at their gym -- the Murph Challenge? I don't know who Murph is, but I've seen some other gyms doing this. This may be the thing that memorializes the 911 first responders -- I'm not sure at all. Anyway, that may have kept my younger boy cousins busy today, and the constant rain probably kept the little ones out of the pool.

Harriet, I think my grandmother's boyfriend was actually in some sort of training mission, possibly before we officially entered the war. I don't believe there is a cross for him at the American Legion display. And OG's family was told his death was suicide but no one who knew him will ever believe that. It was very suspicious, but will never be acknowledged by the army. I tell myself that maybe there is a star for him on that wall at the CIA headquarters.

DGD and I spent some time looking at old yearbooks. (Old to her, LOL -- 2010, 2013. She heard dcousin and myself talking and wanted to look up the one we were speaking of when he was in my class.) Time sure does fly.

I have a few things that I meant to do today that are not done, but considering that I have not been alone for one single minute, it has been a fairly productive day. I guess I will finish up my bedtime routine and get myself headed towards sleep.
