Mary Lemon Waller (born Mary Lemon Fowler) (1851–1931) was a British portrait painter, who specialised in child portraits.

Mary Lemon was born to Rev. Hugh Fowler of Burnwood, Gloucestershire. She began her education in art at an Art School in Gloucester, and later studied at the Royal Academy schools. Waller began exhibiting paintings as early as age 20, and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1877 to 1904.[4] She married genre painter Samuel Edmund Waller in 1874; the couple lived in London and had one son. Waller exhibited her work at the Palace of Fine Arts at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. In 1925, Waller became a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

Waller's works can be seen at several venues in the United Kingdom: Cragside, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Literary and Philosophical Society of Newcastle upon Tyne, Oxford University Museum of Natural History, and Somerville College, Oxford.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for another interesting start. Somewhere in the back of my mind I had heard of Mary Lemon Waller, and it was very good to see the examples of her work, so I could connect the paintings with the person! :D I'm glad the therapist is being helpful. Freddie has a special carrier, designed for "challenging" cats. It has a partition that can be pulled across to immobilise him, so he can have an injection through the bars. This way he doesn't come out.of his cage, and no one has to touch him. It does mean it takes three people.to give him an injection ( one either end of the bar that pulls the partition across and one to jab him through the bars) but it's preferable.to the alternative! The bars are also much closer together than in a conventional carrier, especially around the carrying handle,.so no teeth or claws can get through!

KitKat , sometimes (in fact quite often) families are "strange" and "difficult". You must have done a very good job with your D Kids as they and the DGKids want to spend time with you.

Did DD enjoy her dessert, L.Ann, or was it the actual making that was the fun part for her?

Gma, I can empathise over the weather. We reached 32C (90F) yesterday, and,. of course, most homes here don't have A/C. I just work in the parts of the house that are in the shade and garden during the cool parts of the day. Age Concern (which advocates for the elderly) had lots of advice about drawing curtains and placing bowls of water at strategic points to help with cooling, and also having a fan blow over a.bowl of water to encourage . evaporation and halp cool the air. (The water companies started whining at his advice, but I have little sympathy - they know summer comes every year, they should be prepared. ) In any case,.I don't think this hot spell will last for much longer - it's supposed to start cooling today.

Helia, I hope all your meetings yesterday were productive.

Dogged, so glad the chair has finally arrived. Good luck with putting it together! is there a YouTube video you can find that might help? ( I'm assuming its come.with instructions, but I know the quality of these can be, let's say, variable!)

I got the sitting room cleaned yesterday, and a good gardening session in the evening when it had cooled down. We didn't eat until late, as I told DH there was No Way I was standing in that kitchen with the stove on and the sun streaming in. :D ln the end we had quiche, which I just stuck in the oven and then went back out to play in the garden while it cooked.

Today, DH goes to the office. I technically have a free day, but I need to get the house ready for the gas engineer 's visit tomorrow. He is coming to service the boiler,. gas fire and cooker, so I need to empty the latter amd ensure clear space around the former. My plan is to work in the kitchen early today when it's still in the shade,. but I'm hoping to go for a walk first. Freddie will also need an early.walk (and a late one if he asks -he didn't yesterday,.I guess he was tired!:D ).

Trissie, thank you for another interesting start.

Kittykatt, I meant to mention that your heat wave has made our news. You Know it's bad when...
Actually, I downloaded the instructions for assembling the chair before I bought it. The process is not unreachable. More that I know that I am unusually bad at assembling things, lol.

I can now go back to sleep in peace as I don't have to get up to wait for deliveries. Peace!

Sleep well,. Dogged! I'm glad you have A Plan for assembling the chair. :D I had no idea our heatwave was making international news - for many countries these temperatures are quite usual. I think the link below might amuse you ( and others to come!) - you can see where people's priorities lie :D (and I think there's some very nice ice.cream in my freezer that's been waiting for an occasion like this ... :  )

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

Trissie, thanks for the start and for the art theme, I'm glad to learn new names of artists - and I lookforwards to the days my DSs will be old enough to enjoy a trip to the Musée d'Orsay, probably in a few years. Sorry about the extended family lunch not being what you would have (maybe) wished. So many dysfunctional families... but yes, some are way more dysfunctional than others.
I think it's why the Anna Karenin principle is famous.

Kittykatt, we are unbearably hot weather twins, I think. Yes, the record temps in the UK made international news ( but not French news since we are having our own record temps, and heatwave-related deaths). Good luck staying cool today !

Doggedly I was happy to read that the delivery finally happened !

Very hot days. Kids can't sleep in their rooms (under the slated roof) so they sleep in the LR. Morning routines / rushes are rearranged consequently. Payroll is rather boring, which is not bad.
No news from my job application, I think Gma asked. Not surprised. They must be looking for a five-legged black sheep.

TADAs
Morning rush, in the heat
Kids to daycare, with water bottles and sun hats
Commute, in the heat

TODOs
Payroll stuff then commute back
Dinner prep
Kids homework and showers
Online paper / admin stuff (soc sec hospital bill and finance thing)
Remember Hrt
Bed early because dentist appt tomorrow at 7.30am

Not sure I'll be back later. Waving to all who will follow, enjoy the day !

The meetings yesterday were good, thanks for asking, Kitty! That was a funny post! Enjoy your free day.
I'd never heard of Mary Waller, trissie, but her work is impressive! It looks very real. I hope you're having a good day at payroll. Is dh traveling today?
FFB, I had to look up the Anna Karenina principle. Interesting! Stay safe in the heat.
Glad your chair arrived, Doggedly!
You must have gotten up very early, L Ann. You also walked before picking up Little Bit. I hope the plumber fixed the problem.

Dh told me yesterday at some point that he'd heard/read on the news that Europe is having record heat. So, the heatwave is on the news here too. I told him I already knew that because of my SHE friends here.

I did not get much more done yesterday. After dinner clean up, I did get a treat and wrote a card for dd28 (!) and dropped them at her house. BTW, she just got a job as an art teacher in a nearby school district! Her background is in design, but she's taking classes now to get certification to teach, which she'll receive in July. This was the first job she applied to, and it's a competitive district. She applied more as a practice experience bc she didn't think there was any chance she'd get the job - but she's thrilled she got it. It will be a good 35 minute commute on the interstate one way. Fable will probably have to go to doggie daycare during the day.

Today, I am in fact going in to payroll this afternoon although I'm not teaching this session. I'm subbing for a teacher. Her plans are a little dry/ sparse, so I'm going to have to find some ways to jazz them up. I'm jogging this morning too, and I need to get groceries for dinner tonight. I need to figure out dinner first. LOL! My EPT this morning was cancelled; the student is speaking with the director later bc he is interested in private tutoring instead of classes.

The sun is shining. It is already 68*F, forecast to get up to 83*F. I need to go jog before it gets too hot.
