What's fun for you this Friday. Or not.
Checking in Safe the storm passed with out much but some wind and a bit of rain.
We did hear thunder and see some lightening.
Got a pen pal letter out to the mail box.
I have power inner-net windows are open to air out the stuffiness.

I'm up in the nite could not sleep - got to see the full moon that was fun.
Got the cushions etc. out of the dining room I'd pulled in for storm prep. put back
out on the deck and patio. The other lawn furniture will be done after daylite happens.

Not fun category clean under mower. Some paperwork possibility ack not sure about pursuing that.
I'm mulling that over part of the reason for being up could not sleep.

Knitted a few rows.
Had bfast.
Walked also.

Good morning

My day is off to a smooth start. DH is sitll sleeping, DS17 & DD15 are at work. I just typed DD14 and had to backspace because as of today she is DD15.

We had another full night of teenager antics. A friend of GF16 had a flat tire in the city last night and she didn't have a spare. All the stores were closed so couldn't buy another tire or get it repaired. Long story short....DS17 borrowed a diesel pickup & car hauler trailer to go load the vehicle and haul it back. DS17 told me this morning that it was stressful driving in city traffic and having to reduce speed on the way home with everyone zooming around them. He got off the interstate and drove the back roads. All is well that ends well.

Project of the day...write checks for the random bills that have shown up lately and get them into the mail. It is rare that we write checks but some places don't have online payment options. Without looking I would guess we write less than 10 checks a year (beside the monthly water bill). ANYway, it is rare these random bills that need checks happen and is easily overlooked. I am holding myself accountable to get it done.

Hi everybody!

I'm tidying up in the library and the pantry this morning. At first I was doing quiet things while dh slept. Now he is up and has even cooked himself some eggs! I also finally put a large bag beside my desk so I could toss some stuff into it. Lots of discoloured old lined paper. I wanted to donate it, but I noticed that the bottom of all that paper had to be faded from the sun for the past 10 years of being piled there.

I also loaded the dishwasher. Now last night's pot is soaking in the sink.

I went out for a walk around the back yard. I tracked in a bunch of damp grass, so I swept that up and returned it to the yard.

PSW will be here in less than an hour.

Checking in from Fort Wayne. I had breakfast this am with two of my certification accountability group friends. It was nice to hear that one “isn’t feeling it either. She only decided to come at the last minute when she was notified that she was receiving an award.

Ai 1:30 I’m meeting up with a young genealogist that wanted to meet me last year. We share a surname and the East Tennessee area but don’t think we’re related. I’ve done a lot of research in one of his counties. At two I’m taking the newly published revision of a book to a book signing for a superstar genealogical lecturer and write to get it signed by the author. I’ve taken classes from him several times. Not sure what I’ll do the rest of the day. One of 2:30 sessions is appealing. Might go to library after that.

Twins - it is good to see your Ci.

As boring as it might seem, I can't resist the desire for making another pot of my favorite soup. I keep thinking that I will grow tired of it, but as soon as I finish all the servings from previous batch, I immediately want more. The ingredients are similar but never the same as previous batch. This pot of soup is packed with 8 kinds of protein and 7 different vegetables.

DH has enjoyed his morning entertaining a couple of friends that stopped by. They see DH sitting in front of the house which prompts them to stop and sit with him awhile.

Got some notes on how Napoleon B. learned & read books.
Counting that for "class" today.
Did up my dishes.
Looked in some more boxes for something w/out success but it's way easier after my last de-cluttering.

Received new important papers house ins. put it with other ones to be easily found.
Cleaned under the mower deck.
One possible success still checking. A bit more hopeful.

Devil eggs. x 6 makes 12 great to have a smaller amount these days. x
one more cook corn on the cob... started that & set the timer. x

Dug out one of my stash & dash rooms got some places to put stuff and sorted some other things.
Got some like a hand full to toss.
Not fun but was chatting on the phone while I did that so it was not to bad.

Windy out here now & has clouded up.
Rain this weekend so more digging out of the zone I've been working at.

I solved my hankering for velvetta/rotel queso dip by ordering it as a side from local restaurant. I had a single portion size serving which made my taste buds happy and didn't wreck my micronutrient goals. I don't trust myself to make it at home because I don't want the stress of trying to resist overeating it. There are a few foods that can trigger a binge when they make their way into our home with chips with dip being the most tempting for me. Having single serving portions of that high temptation food is the best solution I have found. I still get to eat & enjoy them without consequences.

Good to hear from Twins' on her journey.

Today is my big push in the mud room where I have had limited influence for a while. Still being good and not cleaning cat litter box, but the rest is getting a good cleaning going-over today. Generally cleaning walls. Then Sweep, swiffer, wetmop. The wetmop has to be swiffer IMO for mud room, too, because of cat litter box - that's just a preference, in a way, but there can be litter dust, for instance, even if Tobias is fastidious. And I don't want it spread by any permanent mop I care about, just because it is dusty, if for no other reason.

These swiffer wet cloths were purchased online (sigh), so we had no idea that when they arrived, they would be scented enough to let your neighbors know you are cleaning. Wow. Anyway, they're really bothering HRH and he's asked that I even toss the used cloths into the can outdoors rather than the trash inside. (In the past, I liked to put them into the trash - nice scents back then, but this is way too much. I believe they used to have a Fe breeze (?) or sometimes would say lavender or say absolutely nothing, but this says Gain and they've used a barrel of the stuff on it.) I'll either purchase in person in the future or scrutinize the photos when ordering.

The new mat for the area underneath and around the cat litter has arrived. Letting it lie out to have wrinkles relax now - it's not bad. No odor, which is good. I got the Gorilla brand since their rubber bathmats have always lasted so long for me.

Used the irrigation this a.m. and carried the watering can around a bit, too. We did indeed have good solid rains, but I'm amazed at how fast the soil remembers the drought. Or maybe the sun is super-hot... .. Took mail to the box and realized whew, it's hot out there.

Made a big salad today and added spring green peas and a pink orange (what are those called - like a cross between blood orange and naval). HRH grabs his part away before either of those additions, lol. Then puts vinegar on it. To each his own!

Some excitement - ( Fun? ) suddenly two trucks (pickup and Suburban type) drove in, the pickup parking oddly under a tree in a way we never park except during the worst of August heat, kinda hidden. We didn't recognize them. Then ds hopped out of the pickup and into the other and it took off. Then a phone call from ds. LOL. The other vehicle was another fireman's. Ds and ddil are doing what HRH did for ds as a teen - will have this pickup, a 2011, on the lawn for dgsW when he gets home this evening and ds himself gets home from work. DgsW can't drive it yet but very soon will have the permit that allows him to drive with an adult. It's clean as a whistle, and body just has the look of so many - very hard to tell it is dgsW's age, lol.

I hear HRH starting a Don Knotts movie, drumming his fingers on his desk along with the music. He loves those. Shakiest Gun in the West, I think. No, Reluctant Astronaut.

Today is the third anniversary of Matilda's Gotcha Day. She decided that 4.30 am was an ideal time to wake up. Our heatwave is over now, and we are a much more seasonal 24C rather than the 32C earlier this week.

I've been into town to get my hair cut and to look for a few summer things - not successful, as this summer colour appears to be beige, which really doesn't suit me. However, online is providing a much better choice. I also took advantage of the cooler temperatures amd worked in my garden.

I went to Friday afternoon fibre group. One woman spent 18 months making a quilt and brought it in today to show us her finished work. She told us that for all that work, when she hung it up in her house, she didn't like it. She doesn't know what she's going to do with it.

I came home and made supper. After we were done and I fed the cats I ended up going and reading on the bed.
