helia - Thanks :) She was pretty stressed/hot by the time we got home ... I knew we can't push it further . It was a lot today.
it's tough to share washing machine/dryer...
We did it during Covid w my Dkids...

I might be able to fold some more laundry b/4 it's time to pick up DGD...
Let me try:)

Hello, everyone!

Trissie, it's quite right that you should celebrate your strengths and achievements.

I hope DD enjoys the party, L. Ann.

Helia, I can understand how sharing laundry facilities must be frustrating at times. Have you tried the waterless car wash? You just spray on amd polish off. It's not as good as a jet wash, if course, but it does keep the car looking reasonably respectable. :D

A big WTG for DPup, KitKat. I always admire my people who have well behaved boxers. :D

Sorry about the added complications with the chair, Dogged.

It's been another sunny day but considerably cooler at only 24C - much more comfortable for working outside. I've put some things (not beige!) in my online basket for M&S and then went out in my garden. The pots have now been fed and the grass cut, and Freddie has had his walk. Indoors, I'm now up to date with laundry and everything has been folded and PA. I haven't tackled the admin jobs, but tomorrow may be wet, and I wanted to make the most of time outside today.

I seem to have gotten quite far behind in the postings. I'll post first and then CUOP. I am happy to say that I am writing this from my new chair. It does not fall apart when I sit in it, and the armrests do not stop me from eating at the table or using my desk. Everything we hope for in a chair.
I have figured out what that little post does: it locks the chair back's position. As a result, the reclining and rocking functions both work, but if I push too hard in the upright position it lets me recline instead of keeping me upright. So, for now, I can use my back muscles to keep myself upright and enjoy the great lumbar support, and in time I can get some serious glue and affix the post and attach the knob. So I can take my credit and save myself the impossible task of getting all of those parts back into the box.

We would have no problem in listing your admirable achievements, trissie! :)

I hope that the freezer is not one of those gargantual chest freezers in the basement, kitkat.
I hope that dpup has recovered now that she has rested in the cool house.

Enjoy the party, L.Ann.

That is definitely the downside of room mates, helia. I hope that yours gives you a chance to wash your towels.

Enjoy your new not-beige clothes, Kittykatt.

Friday
Replied to Aosom’s email about the chair
Put away dry dishes from dw
Put away drying rack and drying mat
Started rice for Germane. Took 3 cups of broth from the containers of turkey stew that I made for Germane and 1 cup of water.
Heart pill for Germane
Made my own breakfast from my grains mix and vegetables from Germane’s stew that she is snubbing
Took a pill and lay down
Made bed
Did Step 3 of chair assembly, leaving off the broken part and cosmetic piece that will be hard to take off later
Encouraged Germane to eat some of her food or kibble or stew broth or stew-flavoured rice
Put on a pot of coffee
Cleaned up after dog
Did assembly steps 4 & 5
Looked up pictures of chair on web site to check that the foot rest is the right way up
Cleaned up after dog
Spot cleaned floor
Did step 6
Examined pictures of complete chair on web site to figure out which arm rest was left and right
Ended up having to guess
Got all of the chair parts connected
Set up boxes around the base so that I could rest the heavy chair that I was trying to set in place
Successfully set it in place
Tested out the chair
Figured out what the post is for: it locks the chair back’s position. It has to be loosened to allow it to recline, but is useful to hold the back in place during normal use. It’s not taking full weight though, so I should be able to glue the post in place and not risk ended up on the floor with a chair on top of me.
Stopped multiple times to offer Germane different foods
Put away the boxes
Cleaned up after dog

trissie, these are such interesting and amazing women!
helia (and any others who want to know) we will sell mother's house - probably - assuming that I become convinced that I can better manage just my house than just her house [especially as I get older and older], but for all she accumulated in 73 years, and as far away as my siblings live, I am thinking it may take 5 years. Remembering that my mil had lived in her house for about 50 years, and it was half the size of mother's, and by myself, one day a week, plus some additional times with ds and help, and from my mother, a cousin, and an estate sale company, it took a very dedicated and focused year. We're 6 months out and I have not emptied anything. Given away 2 coats (about 40 left!!!) and sent 25 pairs of shoes to Salvation Army thrift store.
Today I re-arranged and organized the FLOOR of one of her closets! While looking for a mattress pad for the new tenant coming on Monday. I found 3 unopened sets of queen size sheets, and not oging to list any of the assorted many other things....And I didn't find the mattress pad I had hoped to find. I don't konw if it is at the cabin or if we never used it and returned it.
So I am heading soon to Kohls to get one this evening. I think I have a coupon.
Mom's house was HOT! Tenant has said, please don't turn on AC as it gets too cold. She's in the much cooler basement. So I was working upstairs and the thermostat said 84. I should have turned on the ceiling fan but didn't even think about it.
Back at my house, cooling.
There is a banquet at the college tonight, but I had such a fine luncheon at noon - plated salmon, asparagus, wild rice, mango and almond salad with citrus dressing, berries and yogurt parfait dessert. They really know how to cook for a crowd! I'll be doing more there tomorrow.
I don't even remember what I posted this morning.
I have checked on dfBS by phone several times, still waiting in the ER for a hospital bed. Went to her house, found a check she was waiting for - and had received nearly a month ago - in amongst a pile of mostly junk mail. Got that deposited in the bank before anything happened to it. Asked the bank to make a copy; I put the copy back in the envelope with the receipt for the deposit, put it back in the same place on the counter, until I get any further direction from her. And I spoke to the father of her POA - neither knew that she (the POA, and she lives 80 miles away) had been named on a legal document. Fortunately she agreed. There will probably be some bills to be paid - i.e. checks to be written out and mailed.
I'm the medical advocate -- shouldn't also have to be concerned about her bills, but....

'Nuff rambling - I need to head to Kohls, then maybe stop at the hospital to see how dfBS is doing.
And start with a big glass of water!

It must be hard for you to do the big decluttering of your dmother's house when you have so much else on, Gma.
