My day has been busy…
Up early to walk pups and fed them. Working on poodle training with Amelia. I don’t have a fenced in yard so I have to do this with a harness and leash… she’s abt 75% there.
Did morning routines, then went to class. Came home made breakfast for Sweetie and took Amelia out again… she gets so focused with grass, leaves and twigs she forgets what she’s there for… so it 5 minutes out and if she doesn’t do anything it’s back in the kennel for 10 minutes… repeat repeat repeat till she is successful. I do this when she first gets up, after her meals after she’s played hard with Coco and the after her nap.
Monday was successful yesterday 50/50
In the meantime I’ve colored my hair and made lunch for Sweetie. He’s having a needy day so I need to stay close

Re: Anti-Procrastination Wednesday PWYC
Perhaps getting A to the DAR meeting was my anti-procrastination task? I've been meaning/planning to for well over a year and I always had something else to do instead of the meeting. I actually rescheduled my hair cut to next week so I could go today. I have redeemed myself regarding her patriot - two patriots of that name, father and son, and it was father who isn't viable as an application. The son is. And I found her two others. She'll join on the one that's easiest to prove. The registrar and I have been consulting.
Costumelady - the DAR is a lineage society for women descended from Revolutionary War "patriots" who may have fought, contributed supplies, or done patriotic service such as serving in American government during the war period. The DAR is now a service organization - today there were reports on the America 250 local program and a project in which we are sponsoring a "send off" of a reserve unit which is deploying to active duty. The DAR supports education and historical preservation and a lot of other volunteer initiatives.
Ugh, this has been sitting awhile...

Re: Anti-Procrastination Wednesday PWYC
Apparently, I missed the “anti” and thought this was Procrastination Day.
After breakfast, I started to work on a grocery order until it was time for my therapy appointment (we spent a lot of time on why I’m procrastinating (see?) on digging out late DFIL’s car from our garage and made a plan to make at least a little progress). Of course, by the time I was done with the appointment, I had completely forgotten about my groceries. Instead, I got sucked into a puzzle until it was past lunchtime. After I finally had lunch, my package of supplies came from Michael’s, and I got distracted with that. It wasn’t until after DH came home that I remembered the groceries. He said he’d go get them; of course, he wasn’t going to go to the store I would have been ordering them from. A bit of a pain, because I’d already put in a Target order (same shopping center). Well, that will keep till tomorrow, when part of the plan is to go out for ice cream after putting in some time on garage cleanup.
Oy. It’s like one of those Family Circus cartoons where we follow little Billy all over the place.
I’m going to see how much of today I can salvage. Have a wonderful evening! I hope Kittykatt is sleeping soundly.

LOL, Mystery! Who wouldn't be distracted by crafty goodies from Michaels? I've had a totally satisfying day. I can't say I've crossed off much on my list but I've piddled with DAR genealogy and played with my stamping stuff and had a nap. Tomorrow I only have my workout, then dh is home in the evening. So my little round of solitude will end.
Ddog is quite perturbed that I'm still upstairs. Must go downstairs to pay attention to her!

It is never ending with teens. The energy is always high and they have endless projects & ideas.
DS17 and GF16 found a starter home they are in a tizzy to buy. 1200 sqft, 2 bedroom 1.5 bath, fenced yard, garage, carport, central heat/air $70,000. They are so eager to get started adulting. Sometimes it feels like I'm trying to hold back a tidal wave.
The shredder bin is full again but it is too windy to dump it into the compost or firepit so I had to stop shredding until the wind calms down.

Re: Anti-Procrastination Wednesday PWYC
We've been a little distracted today with HRH's attempts at recreation of the old Shoney's (Big Boy) restaurant's famous Hot Fudge Cake. No, this is not good for anyone, but there is some serious nostalgia.
Weeding happened.
Broccoli sprouts have been sprinkled on more healthy menus. Also, mangoes.
Finally, just called the doctor's office and got the scripts confusion handled from that angle. Of course, that only gets things ready there, not picked up.
One forgotten thing was to get an anniversary card in the mail. Need to remember that tomorrow. On Saturday it is ds and ddil's, but that mention will be more casual.
I succeeded in getting HRH researching a potential Father's Day gift. If I can get an answer on that, I can move on to nagging about new tee shirts. He wears tees until they are rags, honestly. I've considered hiding them, or suggesting that they must have actually disintegrated in the wash.

I worked on the counters did up the dishes and clean the kitchen sinks.
Put more trash out in the bin.
Another container of jars to decide on.
Walked ddoggo up and down the block. The winds were calm for a bit yea!
Paced around and did some tasks in the back yard raked up leaves that came down when the I got the
branches out of the tree. And one adtl. small branch in the front helped me to get my steps in today yea!
Did a bit of sketching on the deck it finally warmed up enough for that.

Re: Anti-Procrastination Wednesday PWYC
I'm afraid I didn't get the memo re: anti-procrastination. Or YES, I was like Mystery -- I thought it was PROCRASTINATION DAY!
I didn't even go to yoga today -- I just felt tired even when I woke up. I didn't take a shower last night, so had that hanging over me before I could go to yoga, and I just decided to roll over and sleep some more. When I did wake up, I had missed a call from dgs... yes, wanting to come over, and dgd crying because (she said) I "promised" she could stay last night and I never called her. I was waiting for her to call ME. Sigh. So they both came over and it's been pretty calm around here. We did do take-out for supper, and I played another round of Phase Ten with her -- we were trying to finish the game we started Monday -- AND we played hide-and-seek. Nana is worn out.
I also had a scare that my dryer was going to be the next thing to break around here. I dried a load of towels forever and they were still wet. Talked to ds on the phone, and he reminded me that if the dryer was tumbling (it was) and it was hot (it was) then most likely the load of towels was just too large. (And it was larger than normal; I had already realized when I filled the washer.) So I have divided it into thirds, roughly, and the first third is nicely dried at this point.
DGD has had a bath and is tucked away in bed.
Tomorrow I will take her home before I go get my haircut. * No fancy dye jobs for me, CostumeLady!
Just a slight trim. I do try to keep my hair colored the same basic shade I was before the grays started, a dark auburn shade, but the color I am using is a bit lighter and more red than I would really like.
Twins -- does DAR sponsor Boys and Girls State? DS went to Boys State when he was a senior, and I know some local organization does that, but I think there are two organizations that sponsor these students. For some reason, our high school has always sent 4 or 5 boys but only one girl, which seems very unfair, doesn't it?
I still have got nothing for dgs' birthday, and I am sure he would like nothing more than money, but I have seen some t-shirts that say something like "Proud Descendant of a Patriot," and you can get your ancestor's name on it. I may order him one of those. I need to check with my cousin (who is a member of DAR) and make sure I know who our ancestor is! There is also a company that makes historical t-shirts that are a bit too sarcastic -- for example, one with Abraham Lincoln's picture on it and one of five stars colored in. It says: "Ford Theater -- Would not recommend." I wish I could find one from that company that wasn't TOO tasteless, you know? What a 14-year-old boy finds humorous and what is acceptable in polite company are two different things.
Harriet, you mentioned tutoring as a source of extra income. I just don't know about that. For some reason, I don't feel confident about it. English tutors are not in as high demand as upper level math tutors, for one thing, and when writing papers, for example, teachers can be so subjective. I'm always afraid I might tell them something that went right opposite of what their teacher was looking for. I have proofread papers for several students through the years, for no charge, including dniece's essays for medical school applications. But I always highlight things and tell them, "This is what I would say, but if you are trying to make this point/say X/whatever, leave it as you have it," etc. Of course, sometimes I would catch obvious grammatical errors or something like that, but I didn't want to re-write the paper for them, so I tried to make suggestions while letting them keep their own "voice." I would feel strange to charge money to read a 3-5 page paper! I did proofread a short book for a friend of the family, a lady in my dad's high school class. She wrote a book about Ruth and Boaz. I didn't charge her anything either, but she gave me a free copy of the book.
I should write my own book!
I'm much too self-conscious now to do that.
Oh yes... Shoney's Hot Fudge Cake... sooo good...
LadyM, how soon will ds and girlfriend be able to get married? I understand when you said you feel like you are trying to hold back a tidal wave.
And of course, my ds' house looks like the aftermath of a tidal wave. I was over there today... it's just unimaginable... and it bothers me more, I guess, because it was my inlaws' house and my dmil kept it so nice. Every flat space, including the floor, is covered with stuff. It's not like horder garbage or anything, just STUFF. Clothes, shoes, papers, dishes, toys, bags of stuff to be donated to friend... it just drives me insane. I do try to keep my mouth shut. I said to dgd, as she was finding shoes to wear, "Why do you leave all this stuff just scattered everywhere???" She said, "My mommy and daddy don't care." So. There you have it.
Oh well... let me go check on the dryer again.
