Festiva Maxima Friday @ TDD - C&C

Good morning/ good afternoon, KitKat, Bama and Harriet.

KitKat, thank you, you're very kind. It's been grey and overcast this morning, but brightening up now, with even some . I've been doing indoor tasks this morning, including baking flapjack for the Y next week (I had forgotten it was my turn, and I won't have time tomorrow with going out in the evening).

Bama, I hope DH's appointment goes well.

Harriet, I think peonies sprout from thick swollen roots (tubers?) and they're *very* fussy about planting depth. I don't have the cat free space to bring on tender annuals indoors, but this year I'm experimenting with direct sowing Virginia stock in the area ( temporarily!) vacated by the forget-me-nots. The early signs are promising!

This morning I've dusted and tidied the bedroom, dusted and hoovered the sitting room, played with Matilda, taken Freddie out, put a few stitches in the neck of my dress that I want to wear to the meal tomorrow evening (the keyhole neck was rather too low), and cleared up where one of the Girls was sick (fortunately on the free newspaper that came with the groceries).

I was interrupted in all this by the JWs, who had evidently decided that a Friday morning was the perfect time to call on people, and that our estate was well overdue for a mass visit. So as well as K (my usual visitor) and her (female) mentor, I could see a whole "field service group" distributing themselves around the neighbourhood. After I had greeted them politely, they asked if I was busy, so I replied truthfully that yes, I was, as l'd just cleared up a pile of cat vomit, and now I was putting a few stitches in the neckline of a dress, as I didn't want my underwear showing when I wore it!! You can probably imagine the reaction! So, today I have learned that the JWs apparently do not mention their "unmentionables" in polite company.

I've made my flapjack for the Y and while the oven was on, I made a coffee cake for us. When that's out of the oven I'll go for my walk and post that card , and then I'll have an afternoon in my garden.

I should be pushing through on getting the air conditioner installed before the thunderstorms start, but I can't leave Kittykatt all on her own! I am up and cleaning around the air conditioner in preparation.

kitkat, I'm glad that your weather has started to cool. I've been picturing the soccer players trying to play in this heat and feeling sorry for them. It's under 30C here, but the humidex is still near 40C.

Thanks, Bama. I only feel the shot if I press right on that area, so I think that is the effect of the needle, not the shot itself. Unfortunately, yesterday I got trapped in a sports bra that I tried to put on in the humidity and when I realized that it had rolled itself into a straitjacket I hurt both shoulders fighting my way back out of it.
I hope that your DH's appointment goes well, and that his physician assigns dishwashing and dusting as physical therapy. A girl can dream.

Wiped down the window inserts for the air conditioner
Realized that I had set the air conditioner on cooling rather than fan only, and the air being very humid it peed on the floor.
Set up extra pee pads to catch the air conditioner’s run off, and pee pads facing up because if Germane sees them she will use them.
Heart pill for Germane
Cleaned up the pee pads after Germane and air conditioner
Cleaned behind air conditioner
Cleaned the drip tray. I started eyeballing it and thinking “This is actually a dog’s food tray, and I would like to start using it for Germane. It would save the part of the floor where she keeps dropping bits of food to dry out and stick to the floor.”
Looked around the apartment and spotted a new, unused boot tray leaning against the wall behind furniture. It’s slightly higher than the dog dinner tray, so it should still fit where it needs to, but it’s bigger so it will do a better job of collecting overflow water. Boot tray, you now work for the air conditioner. Foyer, your glow up can wait.

We have reached the hot part of the day, where the effort of holding up a roll of tape and taping it has me panting, so I'm taking a break in front of the fan.

We are home. I need to let dds dog out before I can rest. Dd2 is home so we roped her into taking dh into town for some other errands before she leaves later today.
Nothing new from the doctor, dh has lost about 7 lbs since his last visit according to their scale. Follow up in 3 months.

Peeking in. Can't post properly. It's been a whirlwind here. Dh and I spent a good 3? hours cleaning and setting up the play room for ds + fam. The room was dirtier than I had expected - but we got it done in time. We also cooked a nice meal of curried lentils, rice, and roasted mixed veggies. Dh and I made the airport run together. When we got home, the rental table cloths and chafing dishes had been delivered. So, we moved them inside the garage and house.

Today, I spent the first part of the morning socializing with our houseguests - which was maybe a mistake. But - dh had left the house for work (I think?), and I thought it would be rude to also leave or ignore them. . . SO I socialized and got them toiletries and showed them how to work the coffee maker, etc. Then, dsil + dniece wanted to see the high school where other (SP) niece will go when she + friend stay with us next fall. So, we took a field trip to the high school. We walked around it and they took lots of pics, and then we went to the park along the river (where I often jog) right across the street from the high school and admired the river and the geese. We got home, and loaded up the rental truck (dsil from Germany is renting a pick up truck, which if you knew her, is really a humorous -- but her dh, our dbil, felt that was a good idea. . .AND it's proving very handy! ) and M's car with stuff that needed to go to the reception site. I did not go to the site; I had a quick lunch and then went to WF to pick up the seafood + salad stuff and then to Walgreens to pick up my script. Of course, they were on their lunch break (1-2) SO I need to go back. I've cleaned up the kitchen again and baked 2 pans of corn bread. I'll bake another 2 -- BUT Kroger didn't have enough of the good mix I use, so I made an instacart order, and 3 more boxes should be arriving soon.

More people have been invited, so we're hosting 17 people for dinner tonight - feeding 16 since Isabella will not partake. I need to do some cleaning to prep for that since they're not all family. I also will make a big salad. Dh is making seafood paella - and we'll just hope that we have enough food for everyone.

I might stop by the site next to say "hi" and admire the preparations!

I guess no news is good news, Bama? Progressing well, I hope. That was good planning, giving DH and DD2 some father/daughter time and getting errands done.
