I love the little excursion into the Canadian mind, Dogged! :-)
helia, your social life is indeed insanely intense, and I totally get how you might not be thrilled to yet again NOT have a simple family dinner!
Bama, I think the stick shift / automatic has more to do with convenience. In Europe, kids (or even adults) don't really need to drive, as public transportation is generally reliable. So there was never a big pressure to make driving easier in terms of construction of vehicles. America, with its vast distances, is another story!

I am EXHAUSTED! The master bedroom bed still needs to be remade, and that's non-negotiable, but I need a bit of rest before I tackle that.

TaDas
- evening routine
- declutter and vacuum upstairs hallway
- bath & storytime with DBD
- take things from master bedroom to attic
- 30 on laundry

ToDos
- remake master bed
- settle with a book and a glass of wine
- shower and bedtime!

Braindump - will have to wait
- bake something sweet
- cherry jam

Hello, everyone, and thank you for the kind anniversary wishes. :D

Trissie, I'm going to have to admit that I've been driving for nearly 44 years and I've never driven an automatic, not even once! That may change though, as DH wants to change the car when he retires and is seriously thinking about an automatic ( other friends have said how easy they are. Hmmm).

(((Bama))) I'm so sorry that Tux is declining. I know he's particularly special.🐾

KitKat, I'd never heard of a built in bookcase before, but you've given me inspiration. There's a lot of examples where people use the IKEA Billy bookcase to make some quite stunning creations. We will be much less ambitious, of course, but it's given me food for thought.

Dogged, I'm glad your appointment.was successful, despite all the adventures, and that you finally managed to retrieve your car parking space

Helia, just reading about your day sounds exhausting! I think you were right to speak up about Lily, especially as she isn't grooming herself.

DH cooked a delicious steak dinner for us this evening, and we had some special coffee ice cream to follow. My sitting room is clean and I've watered and fed the roses in my front garden. (For some reason they're not doing as well as their counterparts in the back garden this year. I'm trying a weekly drink and liquid feed to see if that will correct any deficiencies.) Matilda was on my lap,.but has now decided its bedtime.

I'm glad that your DSIL is good with cooking for the extra guests, helia. That Stamppot looks really tasty.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it, trissie. :)
I had tried to learn to drive with stick shift when I first took drivers education, but couldn't master it in time. I ended up learning automatic to get my license and have stuck with it since. I also suck at parking, always driving in forward instead of backing in, and when it comes to parallel parking I just keep on driving until I find a place to park with no cars around.

How lovely to have your dinner cooked for you, Kittykatt, and steak too. I take it that your DH is feeling more mobile now?
Happy Anniversary!

helia I get tired just reading about the number of dinners/socials you host... I can't imagine how you manage them - and, I could not have done them 10 years ago either... so it's not an age thing. Sometimes, we just need to ... be. Porch time is a good time:)
trissie I never drove stick shift.. I did drive a car with no power steering. That was tough.
I can parallel park - only if nobody is watching me. If someone, heaven forbid, tries to guide me - it's over.

Dogged - I like the old lady stage - I could use some more energy and speed:)
loved your story :D

Bama - I can't find it; what's wrong with Tux? (just saw a reference)

Happy anniversary Kittykatt! I missed it earlier...
You have a good handyman, right? Maybe ask him about a built-in?

If I missed anyone - it's been a long day.
Back tomorrow for another one.
(I have DGD, and an outing with her, a zoom with my overseas friend, a dentist appt, and a yoga class - perhaps something will get done here? )
Have a great night Everyone.
I'm off to read my (VERY GOOD ) book . Theo of Golden

I'm glad that it entertained you, kitkat. I was all perked up at the name Theo of Golden until I realized that Theo is not a Golden Retriever. Life is full of these little disappointments.

Germane, on the other hand, enjoyed her walk this evening. She actually walked much of it, and got to poop outside to her great satisfaction.

Dogged, I’m glad Germane enjoyed her walk and outdoor constitution.

KitKat, your tomorrow sounds busy. Tux is just showing his age, so I’m trying to mentally prepare myself while giving him all the treats and loving.

Kittkatt, it sounds like a wonderful celebration meal. Thank you for your sympathy regarding Tux, he has been with us through a lot, since the girls were little.

Trissie, sweet dreams.

I went out to plant some things and walk DDs dog and the sky fell out. Got Uri walked and I was soaked and freezing. The thunder ran me back in. I didn’t get to the floors as they were wet from the dogs and me. There’s always tomorrow.

Done:
Bible
Weigh
Breakfast
Fed inside pets
Tux extra attention, wiped off paws, brushed, fed treats, gave supplement so all cats got a little extra treat sample, fed a little every few hours as he would eat it
Pet chores
Brush Beau - another bag filled with fur w
Dust
Kitchen - unload/load dw, clean out fridge, wfd - plenty of leftovers
Walk DDs dog
Changed out of soaked clothes
Walk my dogs after the rain passed
Took trash out
Paper, planner, emails, mail

Vacuum
Mop
Plant some things (depending on the weather)
β™₯ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! β™₯

I just came back from a lovely summer evening walk with Casper too. He actually showed he knows how almost tonight πŸ˜†. I think it's my favorite season when the wild roses are out and everything is so green. Lovely after a stressful work day. Lots of chaos. Ugh. Hopefully it will iron out.

So busy with people helian. Hopefully most of it is enjoyable.

Poor tux Bama. That's hard. Been through it a few times. Velcro made it all the way to 20. Poor girl was so thin and confused and matted. Buttons and Zipper too. Yup a theme. Lost it after the 3 of them. Ohh wait helians dd has an aging one too.

Tomorrow I have to take ds to school and a meeting with the iep coordinator. I should make a few notes actually. Not sure what she has in mind she messaged me. Hope it's ok. Then bible study and physio. Then maybe I get some time to rest?

I was having a hard time remembering my physio exercises. Then I noticed that maybe the break is helping? It's still there when I actually stretch my arm backwards but much better. I will tell her that and then try again because I believe she is right needing to make it stronger. Hard to strengthen when it hurts.

Anyway I think I'm done for night
