Samuel Whiskers is an enormous, thieving old rat and the primary antagonist in Beatrix Potter's classic children's story, The Tale of Samuel Whiskers or, The Roly-Poly Pudding.

In the story, he and his wife, Anna Maria, live behind the attic walls of a farmhouse. When a mischievous kitten named Tom Kitten wanders into their hideout, the rats capture him and plot to turn him into a "roly-poly pudding" by coating him in stolen butter and dough. Fortunately, Tom's mother and the farm dogs arrive in time to rescue him, forcing Samuel Whiskers and his wife to escape and take over a neighbor's barn.

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!

Laura, your walk with Casper on a summer evening sounded lovely! In my experience, physio exercises really do work, but they take time, sometimes as much as 3 months or so. And although it's.normal to feel a "pull" when you stretch, it shouldn't be excruciatingly painful.

Dogged, I'm glad Germane enjoyed her walk.

.. KitKat, you're right and MJ should be able to nuild.me.a.very good bookcaee. I'm not sore where yet though, as our house is small., but a fresh pair of eyes is always useful.

We had heavy rain overnight, so it doesn't.matter that I didn't.water.the pots yesterday. Matilda decided that 5.30 am was the perfect time to wake.up (a lot better that 4.30 but still early for.my liking! )and has now gone back to sleep again. Everyone else is also asleep, so I'm going to enjoy the quiet house. :D

Looks like a fun week; I love Beatrix Potter characters!
I've been busy with dfbS, trying to hep her come to terms with her terminal diagnosis; She wants to hope that treatment will continue to give her comfortable life, but I'm not confident about that. now I'm getting pressure from the doctor to make decisions for her, as dfBS isn't makig decisions that concur with the Dr's recommendations, so Dr wants to call her "confused." She is not in anyway confused, other than that it is difficult to make decisions when all the decisions have poor outcomes. I had a premonition? intuition? subtle message from God? that her time of life is limited. As of course is true for all of us, but further out.... And do I tell her that I had that subtle intution?
I am praying for discernment, both for myself and for her.

On a happier note, dsis3, her hubby, and MrVKM went to a wonderful dinner theater, lots of music, dancing, and good food. performance of "Guys and Dolls". We had a great time. Now it's time for me to go to bed, so I can get up in the morning, early enough to go see dfBS and get home so I can meet my other obligations tomorrow.

Oh, and dcousin 300 miles away notified me that his wife died of Alzheimer's yesterday. Funeral Saturday. Dsis3 leaves Friday. Cabin lakeshore meeting is also Saturday - I will miss that. He faithfully came both to Mother's birthdays and funeral, so I need to find a way to include that in my schedule as well. While helping dfBS transition to new plan, new location.

CAN I PELASE BE 5 PEOPLE????

Gma, I'm so glad you're having a good time.wotj your DSis #3. So sad about DF BS, but I'm sure you're the right person to gently guide her towards the "best" decision for her. Oh, and your cousin losing his wife , so sad too, but at the same time, a blessed "release" due to the circumstances. Sleep well!

Thank you for another fun start, Kittykatt. Woohoo on the rain helping you out with the gardening.

(((Gma))) What a hard situation, with your df and sad news about your cousin. I am glad that you are finding some time for enjoyable get togethers.

I hope that your ddog feels better, kitkat.

We just said good bye to dsilM and dniece L. They're off on their next adventure in the USA. AND. .. . I sat down in my quiet living room by myself! I was so happy to be alone with an open day ahead of me and the possibility of getting some rest and recovery time. I opened my laptop, and saw a message: AC is asking me to emergency sub for another teacher this morning. No one else is available. I was so looking forward to a few hours to start recharging my introverted self before we travel tomorrow and enter into more days of high levels of socializing. I'm very done looking to other people's needs.

Gma, so glad you had a fun night out with dsis and hubby and Mr. VKM. I'm sorry about your cousin. I'll pray for wisdom for you and acceptance for your friend. You have a lot on your plate. I feel like I just simulated trying to be 5 people at once for about a week with all the hosting, the ceremony + reception, and related social events. It continues. . .
Kitty, I had forgotten about Samuel Whiskers. I hope you have a great day.
kitkat, enjoy time with DGD! Poor pup. I hope she feels better soon.
Good morning Doggedly!

We were 6 here for dinner last night and then dd30 joined us for dessert, making us 7. We ate out on the patio, which was very pleasant. The stamppot was delicious! DsilM put some things in it, like leeks and cheese, but had other mix ins on hand so everyone could add what they wanted.

I'm struggling with deferring my R and R time until. . . I don't know when. I guess August? Subbing today. Meetings and traveling tomorrow. The conference and staying in a house with 4 other people until Saturday. Traveling home on Saturday. Sunday - more low key: church + Shakespeare in the park. Monday - pack and prep for backpacking trip. Tuesday - Saturday travel again -- backpacking trip. Sunday: church, CG2, and hosting Sunday dinner. Then, Monday, June 29 is back to payroll - prepping for S6. I think I'm teaching again in S6, so it will be busy. We are camping in Canada July 3-5. Travel to J12yo state swim meet one weekend in July? Host dbro another weekend in July? Travel to Europe July 31 - Aug. 16. Two weeks -- down time, I hope. And then, hopefully, dniece S (the younger sister of niece L) + friend K will arrive to stay with us for 8 weeks. . .

Today: I'm subbing 11-1. I also need to finish exam prep for payroll. Getting groceries and doing laundry are also priorities as we prep to leave town tomorrow. Exercise would be good, but at this point, I don't know if I can get to the gym. Dinner tonight will be quinoa and black beans over rice.
