Re: Squirrel Nutkin Saturday @ TDD - C&C
Squirrel Nutkin is a cheeky and rebellious red squirrel from Beatrix Potter's classic children's books. He is very loud and does not like to do chores. While the other squirrels work hard to gather nuts for the winter, Nutkin plays silly games and teases everyone.
On a trip to Owl Island, Nutkin visits a wise owl named Old Brown. Instead of showing respect, Nutkin dances, sings silly riddles, and pulls pranks. His luck runs out when he pushes the owl too far. Old Brown catches Nutkin and tries to skin him. Nutkin barely escapes, but he learns a valuable lesson

Re: Squirrel Nutkin Saturday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for starting us off. Squirrel Nutkin was one of my favourites, although looking at the tale through adult eyes, it is rather.vi9lent, especially the scene where he loses his tail in order to escape from Old Brown! Your party sou ds a huge 7 undertaking with all the food - how many guests.are.you expecting?
Helia, fortunately the young woman did survive the overdose, she has started to regain consciousness by the time the ambulance crew arrived,.and they gave her something (Naloxone?) before taking her to hospital. Bit it was very evident she is a frequent user, so 8 less she decides she wants to stop (there is a lot of help and support available for people who want to come off the drugs), the future is not looking very bright for her, judging by the state she was in.
KitKat, I'm sorry about the accident - it can still leave you shaken even without any damage. I remember the dog I grew up with had raw eggs on occasion, usually of one had been dropped on the floor. Let's just say they weren't great for his digestion!
Dogged, I think the problem with safe user rooms is that everyone thinks they're a good idea, but no one wants one near them! Iirc, one opened up in Glasgow some time.agi, providing a star space and also the facility to have your drugs.chexked to find out exactly was in your batch, so you know what you're taking in advance. We suspect that was the reason the young woman overdosed - that what she thought was her "usual" had been "cut" with something.else.(fentanyl?) or was just stronger than usual. I don't *think* the nitazenes (sp?) have found their way to this part of the country ( there haven't been any police.reports), but who knows? In a.much happier.nite, I hope your new mattress topper gives you a wonderful night's sleep!
I never made it back here.yesterday, but I had a really good session in my garden, lasting well I to the evening. Fortunately.I had planned Welsh rabbit jacket potatoes with ham.amd.salad.for supper, so meal prep was merely just sticking the potatoes in a slow oven for a couple of hours, and then disappearing back into the garden! I did get a lot done though - the rain this week meant everything had grown.a lit! But I had a really.good.deadheadimg session, especially.on the climbing rose, cut the grass which had grown really long and lush, fed the pots and had a really good tidy everywhere. And I cut off all the dead heads of the London Pride in the front garden, now it's finished flowering.
We're currently umder an amber heat warning,. despite the temperature being just a very pleasant.23C yesterday,.so ideal for "working" outside. The government.has issued it's usual patronising advice on how to cope in the heat, which starts : " If you are feeling.too hot, move somewhere.cooler!"
DH reckons it's going to get hotter over the weekend. We shall see!
Today DH has an early start, as he is meeting DBIL.amd some others at Bridport,. ( which involves a train journey
) and is meeting his DF A for breakfast before they catch the train. I'm still in bed,.with cats climbing all over.me, but Ive done the response thing and checked he has a hat and sunscreen with him.
My plans for today involve taking my long handled shears with me to the garden centre to get them sharpened. While I'm waiting, I shall of course have coffee there, and a good look at the plants!

Oh, Trissie, I hope the weather cooperates.
I find the forecasts.are.often unduly pessimistic, alarmist, or just plain wrong! ( We're supposed to be getting this "heatwave" with the amber heat warning, but another forecast is saying rain
) It's dry ATM and a pleasant 17 C,.so I shall go to the garden centre early. I'm sure your party will be a great success, whatever the.weatjer. - you've put so much effort and hard work into it.

Thank you for starting us off, trissie. I hope that your party is wonderful, and that you get to enjoy it.
Kittykatt, you have really described the drug issues as we have them here too, including the NIMBYism.
I should get some sleep, as it's an early start and a longer day than I am used to, even if it's all for fun. Have a good day, all.

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
trissie, thanks for the start. I really hope the weather lets you enjoy the day, you've been working hard to have it all ready, that would be so unfair. You still have plenty to do, probably, so good luck with the last minute stuff.
kittykatt, glad you have a day without your DH or your DBIL around. Hopefully the weather lets you enjoy some garden time without too much heat.
Sleep well Doggedly ! Days are long indeed, it's the solstice today or tomorrow.
Another busy week. Job interview on Tuesday : at first I thought it had gone well but thinking about it later I realize there were questions I should have prepared better. I don't think I will get the job, but I was given my chance and anyway it was good practice to get the interview.
The weather is going to be hot, it is already in some parts of France, orange alert for most of the country. We will feel the heat mostly tomorrow - it's the day of the school fair, I will volunteer from 2pm to 4pm, but I'll be in the shade - and Monday, the hottest day, followed by other hot days. Weather people predict we will probably have the hottest temps ever, in many parts of France. Events and exams are being postponed, or moved from afternoons to mornings. Many trains are cancelled due to lack of reliable A/C. Schools are allowing kids to stay home if the parents can keep them.
It will be "interesting". MrNG has training Mo-Tue-Thu an hour away, I have no work-from-home possibility, I hope both our cars behave.
TADAs
up early, opened windows to get fresh air in
MrNG and I went to the shopping area to pick up groceries and do additional shopping
back home, groceries put away
TODOs
prepare lunch
consider cooking or baking things in advance today (to eat cold in the next few days)
stay in the shade
later
things from weekly list
book more places for our August trip (only 5 nights booked out of 10)
dinner is store-bought pizzas with a family movie
