I really don't make clothing (did a skirt and a cocoon sweater 20 years ago or so). The other thing that intrigued me was the hexagon sweater but I only made that in doll sizes. What I enjoy is the mindless (meditative) crochet like scarves and throws... What do you make?

trissie I'm impressed that you are ready to go once more... See, I told you not to worry about the forecast.
(My biggest b-day party was one for 26 for my dson. )

Plan B. For some reason, I'm moving more slowly than I thought this morning. I can't get to the park for a long run and be in time for church. Maybe I could - but it would be a scramble to get ready in time, and I'm tired of scrambles. Also, I'm LOVING sitting in my own living room -- alone.

It's cool enough today for me to jog in the afternoon - so I'll do that. I have just made a Kroger order to help my afternoon go more smoothly. I need to get some things from WF as well, including a Father's Day card. Dh doesn't want a big todo -- I think we're all exhausted and tired of big todos here.

Are you going to a farmer's market, kitkat? Hope you find some great stuff! I found knitting the baby blanket for baby I very therapeutic.

So, now I have 1:15 before we head otd to church. I hope to use that time to set up my afternoon well. First - s2s.

helia, DH's birthday is the kind of "come and go as you can/want to" event, and people might stay anywhere between an hour or two to the whole event. Things go on the grill or on the table so that there's always something, but not everything at the same time. Also, people tend to bring "something", though I've long ago given up on trying to coordinate that, and so every year is a surprise of what we will have (there were years when everybody brought marinated meats, and we were low on sausages/wursts, and some when it was the other way round). I'll freeze the sausages as well as the leftover meats and just use them up in the future. The chips and such, well, I don't worry about those lasting long!
We've had teryaki chicken baked in the oven today

kitkat, I never really learned to crochet (it is on my list, though), but my gma did it a lot - she did scarves and she also crocheted me a pretty dress for my Barbie doll

Sitting down with a cup of frappe coffee (finally found how to use the coctail shaker we got as a wedding gift!) while DH is watching the kids in the pool. DBD is overstimulated and is staying away from the kids. Poor thing... but she really is looking forward to the presents and cake!

Morning all. Yikes on the heat frenchie. What does the thermometer say in the heat of the day?

Trissie that's quite the party. And another today. I guess dh job is not going anywhere even with all the schedule of kids and mom and such. Peace of mind in that sure helps.

Kittykat hope church was good and a relaxing Sunday.

Helian I'm glad you got some unhurried time to sit on the couch and not have a fast deadline.

Kitkat I looked at that hexagon sweater pattern... maybe for baby dgd that is coming? I saw cute dresses and a little sun hat. I bet i could find a sweater for dgs who will be close to 2 at Christmas. A crochet hat for a boy? Maybe a toque. Lol. I better get busy though if I could finish this blanket by August. Maybe the sweater? Hats for Christmas. If i start thinking making things Maybe I could have one gift each done before the last week shopping rush? One can dream.

Anyway nothing planned for anything yet. Father's day here too. Ds went camping with ddil sister but atm I don't know if he's home or back there. My sister wanted to do something but her guy has his son and dgd. So I don't know.

No music prep today so I have time for a slow morning. But I should do something. Bake some cookies. Muffins. Something. We can plan Spur of the moment.

Bama, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of cuddly, soft-bellied Tux, you've described to me in the past. I believe we had said back then that you and I, Cathy and Kittykatt all had tuxedo cats. I'm grateful for Tux's long happy life with you.

Enjoying the crochet discussion, kitkat and Lauralind. Nancy is a crocheter as well and even spins her own yarns at times on her wheel. I can crochet, but recently the hands don't cooperate and cramp - hopefully temporary. We'd love to hear about your crochet adventures in the Art, Needlework topic.

Hello everyone!

FFB, I hope you manage to stay relatively cool. We have sweet flams, and we used to have savoury flams such as "egg and bacon flan", but during the 1970s the latter somehow got upgraded to "quiche".

Trissie, we have sun and 30 C today, so I'm not sure if we're weather twins? I'm glad it stayed dry for the party.

Helia, I'm glad you were able to get some time alone today. Our lunch menu today was baked ham with a maple syrup glaze, roast potatoes, gravy, tenderstem broccoli and green beans ( these last two are on sale ATM, hence their regular appearance! ), followed by raspberry ripple fool.

Kitkat, I hope you enjoy the market.

Laura, I'm impressed you're thinking about Christmas gifts already!

Harriet, I'd forgotten that Cathy has a tuxedo cat too -there's definitely something special about them!

Church was lovely and cool this morning (old stone building,.so chilly amd difficult to heat in winter, but wonderful in this weather!) and DF E was in very good form, and my new rose food amd spray has been delivered, so I'm planning to go out in the garden when it cools down this evening. Freddie also needs to wait for his walk - it's far too hot for him outside ATM.

kittykatt, not weather twins here! When I got in the car this morning, two numbers were blinking: 36 and 40. 36 was speed in kilometers and 40 was temperature at degrees Celsius (it was exagerating, but not by much!)

kitkat I love to crochet small things : little bags, scarves, a hat for the kids when they were babies, and small crocheted rouds to wipe your face and wash and reuse instead of face wipes. I wish I knew how to crochet a top for myself. My DM made a few for herself, maybe I shoudl ask her for a pattern / model.

Laura, the temp is officially 34 °C (93.2 °F). Very unusual in Brittany, so close to the ocean. TOmorrow will be hotter, 38 °C and even 40 on Tuesday, where I work. I hope you have time to bake what you want to bake.

trissie I don't think the night temps will be very cool, for a few days at least. And no, the employees probably wouldn't agree to work by night-time. Sorry DBD is not playing with the other kids, I hope she has a nice party nonetheless.

Kittykatt, helia, flan is usually sweet and a dessert recipe, but you can have a savoury version that is sort of like a quiche but without pastry. You take eggs and cream, and you add what you want, and as it cooks it will set and be more or less creamy depending on how you want it. I added flaked white fish, a cooked carrot, some cubed cooked zuchini, parmigiano, and mixed it quickly (not entirely processed), and covered with foil and cooked in the pressure cooker - a bit like a steam cooker. I added a tablespoon of maize flour to thicken it a bit, it can be sliced like a cake when cooked. Uses less energy than cooking in an oven.

So tomorrow the whole of Brittany is in red warning, the highest level. I will have to go to payroll, MrNG goes to his training, we have no choice. The school stays open for parents who can't keep the kids at home.
The school fait went well. I drank more than 1 liter of water in one afternoon, a very rare thing for me. Kids had fun. Then cold dinner. Now I hope that the kids will fall asleep eeasily in spite of the heat, they may sleep downstairs in the LR as it's very hot upstairs under the roof.
