Hi!

Yesterday dh spent some time outside trying to get a watering system set up with a hose. That involved a trip to a hardware store. Today will involve a trip to another store to buy a new pump. Dh says he "blew up" the pump he was trying to use. I was happy that he was outside doing something.

We don't have many plans for the day. No visitors expected. No phone calls expected. Dh doesn't have any children. I made a huge potato salad yesterday so we will have the rest of it at supper time along with a BBQed steak.

I got 2 of the 3 litter boxes changed yesterday. Today's "list" of things for me to do isn't very long. Change that one litter box and do the dishes.

I would like to work on my cross stitching if the sun comes out from behind the clouds. There is a Blue Jays game on this afternoon against the Cubs. Last year there was one woman at the Friday afternoon fibre group there were that was always leaving early to go watch the Jays. This past Friday there were 5 of us (not including this woman because she wasn't there) talking about baseball. We all admitted to getting interested due to last year's play off games.

OOPS!! I totally forgot that I have 2 loads of laundry to get done. The first load is started. Dh got up to have his coffee and his morning meds.

Good morning on the first day of summer in our hemisphere, Cathy!

We enjoyed this quip,
"Note to newcomers: our area is only on pre-heat."

:D

And a Happy, Happy Father's Day to all who celebrate!

Thank you to the dear husbands of the village, as well.

Good morning

My morning is off to a smooth start. Showered and hair washed so it is now air drying. I'll put it up in a summer style to get it off my neck after it dries.

We will have 3 generations here for lunch to celebrate DH on this Father's Day. This afternoon we will chat with DS52 and family as they celebrate DS52 on this Fathers day. This holiday is always a two edge sword kinda of a day. The father of DS17 and DD15 has chosen to not be in their lives since they were babies. DGS29 and DGS27 have disowned their fathers and want nothing to do with them. There is a disparity in this holiday with some celebrating and some with nothing to celebrate about their own relationships between father & children. I had the best father ever (IMHO) so I am filled with sweet, treasured memories of that experience. DH has served a double role of Grandfather & filling in the role of father for 4 of our grandchildren. DH and DS52 are examples of the very best of fathers..... while there is an unspoken (usually) hole because of the missing fathers in those 4 grandchildren lives.

Our temperature will be 105F/40C this afternoon so I will need to be vigilant in monitoring that DH doesn't do physical work in the heat.

Next up -
** Clear both dining room tables. They have recently been deep cleaned so it will only take a couple minutes. it is a never-ending occurrence in they seem to attractive STUFF
** Clean kitchen counters
** start food prep

Summer Solstice is one of my favorite day of the year.. it is also the longest day of sunlight. Starting tomorrow the days will get shorter.

No special plans here… very hot here with 96* heat and same for the humidity. I am constantly looking for shady parts outside to walk the pups

And even though our area was sprayed for mosquitos, they are still relentless. I killed 8 of them walking Coco this morning. As hot as it is I am still wearing long sleeve and long pant during dawn and dusk. Ugh!

Hope ya yall have a great day… BBL

I have zero interest in sports but I am enjoying watching the many videos made by people who are visiting USA for the first time to attend/support/play in the world cup. Watching and listening to their first-person views of our country and culture is very interesting to me as these visitors compare it to their country. If you are interested in viewing their reaction and thoughts, go to utube and search for "visiting america for the first time".

I burned a bag of cardboard this morning. I also walked around the gardens. I called the cats and they all came inside for their nip treat at 9.

I went back to bed to read and ended up sleeping for another hour. Dh is still sleeping.

It's a beautiful day here. I need to put the first load of laundry into the dryer.

Wow, Ramblin', ya'll really are being inundated with mosquitoes. I hope the long sleeves, etc., keep working for you - frustrating in that heat. How are you feeling with recuperation? Nice to think of the pitter-patter of little paws on your walks.

Nancy, pockets are probably the most fun of garment sewing chores if they are the patch type, not sewn in (those are puzzles). Of course, it's never as pleasant if the machine is giving fits.

By now, LadyM will be deep into her family's big meal together. Hoping LordM has a great time, that there is a lot of laughter.

Yep, the World Cup and the visiting fans are a big topic here. Both dds' households are especially deep into it.

In general, for me too, my memories from youth of my ddad and other men in my life are very good, almost high-minded, really. Good uncles who were in my life and randomly would become aware of me  although no one ever seemed to have much time for the littlest niece, lol. No grandfather memories - HRH remembers one of his fondly. We have bittersweet experience, too, since ddolder and ds lost their Daddy when they were 16 and 11, with their paternal grandfather a no-show, and ddolder's children lost their Daddy so young. Some other things, but those are for a different thread.

Dd27 came and brought HRH a large bolster-type upholstered piece to lean back on the couch for tv watching or maybe for bed if he would like to sort of sit up a little to sleep. It has arms that extend, with pockets for maybe, remote? pens? He immediately tried it out on the couch.

Then ddolder and her youngest came and brought lemon pound cake and fresh cherries, a couple of his favorite things.

It was so nice to have two visits, but kinda sad they all 3 left together. Sigh. Never enough time. Dd27 simply could not stay - her in-law family is having a lot of sickness at the moment. In fact, that is why dsonil could not come at all. Dd27 herself has a sinus infection.

Dd27 flies out to NYC tomorrow and will stay for the entire week. So, I'm sad about that. We had such a short time together, to talk about really important things - everyone's health, hopeful plans, catching up on the rest of the family.

Is flying a problem with a sinus infection :?: She'll be on day 4 of 10-day antibiotic when she flies out... ..

Dbil called HRH as well. They weren't able to chat, really - some work situation came up but he will try to call back later.
