Happy Friday!
Last day of school. Not the hottest day this week, that will be Saturday or Sunday with temperatures reaching almost 40C (104F), but still hot enough. I need to clean downstairs, get groceries, process cherries and handle laundry - and survive the heat!

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. Sending you strength and patience for the summer holidays with.all 4.DKids off school! Yes, you're right, our party is with the same group of people that we had for the Diamond Jubilee amd the Coronation. We've kept on meeting up each year. Our heatwave is finally starting to slip away - I.dont envy you those temperatures!

L.Ann I'm so glad DD was healthy for your trip - that must have been such a relief!

Dogged,. you're right about our reliance on the Gulf Stream for our usual temperate conditions. I am not even going to think of life without it.

Today is "only" supposed to reach 28C, which are more normal temperatures for us. Some "experts" are already threatening another heatwave for the middle of July, but I'm not going to think about that now. We were *supposed* to get thunderstorms and torrential rain overnight,.and they were wrong about that. (I haven't looked out the window yet this morning, but I think I would have noticed! )

Today I want to feed and water the roses in my front garden first thing (west facing, so no sun yet) and tidy any ground cover that's gone over. Then I need to be indoors during the heat of the day, and I'll attempt the back garden when it's.cooled off a bit. At least, that's the plan! There's plenty to keep me occupied indoors too - off the top of my head I need to order cat food.and.supplements,.and also my.supolememts (not from the same place! ) and I need to make flapjack for the church event on Sunday ( I don't want to leave this until the last minute,.and it keeps very well). While the oven is.on,.it would be a.good idea.to.bake something.for us.

DS's home from school. For the first time since he started at the new (very hard) school, he's brought a report card with no C's! (he tends to have a C in subjects like biology, chemistry or physics, because the teachers have very high standards). So proud of him! Now I don't really care about grades (nobody will ever care about his middle school grades) as long as it's passing grades, but he rocks!

Congratulations to DS, Trissie!

Fred has had his walk, as it's still pleasantly cool in the shade. I think I will have an hour to work in my front garden until the sun comes round, so I need to make the most of it. I think I'm slightly allergic to the Campanula, as I have a rash on my arms from pulling up the spent flower stems yesterday evening, but it's pretty, quite trouble free and only requires attention once a year, so I think it's going to stay , especially as it will grow happily in places where many other things struggle.
