Re: Happy 4th of July Saturday @ TDD - C&C
Happy 4th of July to our American friends!
Thank you for starting us off, trissie. Have a safe trip and a wonderful holiday.
Hooray for hot water, Kittykatt!
(((FrenchFly))) I'm sorry that you didn't get the job. It sounds like a good company where they actually followed up with you and gave you an explanation. I wish that I were better at disengaging my feelings from situations, because you definitely take away a lot of their power to make you miserable when you can just disengage the feelings.
If I saw that rugby team coming at me, I would be tempted to just give them the ball.
Have a happy and safe trip, helia! I hope that the weather is kind to you.
Hi, L.Ann. It looks like the weather is not being kind to you. I hope that you can avoid the heat.--ah, I see that you have cancelled the outdoor walk. Very wise.
FrenchFly, I'm curious about what you put in your no-meat shepherd's pie. With the cost of meat as it is, I'm open to learning new things.
I am at the end of Page 1. It's time to negotiate with Germane for the use of the bathroom.
Saturday
Went to bed early
Startled out of sleep by Germane clanging around behind the air conditioner. I have learned that this sound is an emergency, as she might knock the air conditioner’s drain hose out of position. She has learned that she can scramble me out of bed by clanging around back there. Her motivation is that she peed on her pee pads and I, being asleep, failed to provide praise and treats.
Found that Germane not only moved the hose, but pushed it right off of the drip tray and off of the linoleum. She must have done that some time ago, as the pee pad I put back there was bulging from all that it had absorbed.
Made a temporary fix
Gave Germane her treat for using her pee pad
Went back to bed
Made the strategic error of listening to short reels instead of an audiobook. They turned out to be interesting, so took much longer to get to sleep.
Kept waking up too hot, even though the air conditioner was running. Drained the air conditioner often, drank water, and listened to too many reels
Finally turned down the target temperature for the air conditioner to cool the air more around 5:00 am. Slept
Changed Germane’s pee pads
Cleaned up behind air conditioner and drained it
Heart pill for Germane
Folded dry laundry
FACE: updated budget sheet
Put away dry dishes
Got screwdriver and loosened lid handle to let the water drain out
Put away dry tshirts and brought out more to finish drying

Germane sheds less than I do, L.Ann. She leaves other kinds of treasures for me to find.
WTG on progressing through your list.

Set up DVD player to play library CD. I haven’t made much use of this DVD player, and I really should. It has a beautiful screen, and the volume is loud enough.
Brushed my hair out
Came out to find Germane posing with the pee perfectly placed on her pee pad
Gave her some dog food. That is not what she ordered.
Replated the dog food with rice, duck gelatin and probiotic. It was graciously accepted.
Cleaned glasses
Emptied desk garbage
Found Germane in the kitchen, licking the floor with her plate pushed aside. I’m sure there’s a story there.
Drained air conditioner
Misc tidying in bathroom

Re: Happy 4th of July Saturday @ TDD - C&C
Dogged sorry for your poor night. I hope the air conditioning works fine. For a no-meat version you can find meat-substitutes made with soy / tofu. Sometimes I use cooked lentils (I always cook extra lentils to freeze when we have lentils), the dark ones because they stay firm, and with some mushrooms, chestnuts if you have them or other nuts, you can get something that looks like minced meat. Actually I don't to a proper shepherd's pie I make hachis parmentier, but I think it's basically the same. As for disengaging emotionnaly from the work situation, I still have to put my "wish" to the test, next time Boss is unkind to me or using irony or things like that, not sure I can stay serene like a Zen master or Buddhist monk. But I vow to try.
L.Ann I hope you enjoy the baseball game and the fireworks. Oh, I see you've done your weekly menus. Swim lessons are such a great idea, in hot weather, practicing a very useful skill. DS7 will have tennis lessons this week and DS10 will do table tennis the week after the week of the 14th July.
It's dark now, the soccer game starts at 11pm so in 20 minutes. We had dinner on the patio because I insisted it would be nice, and it was nice
So worth the trouble of giving the place a good sweep and unfolding our new folding table. We will probably enjoy patio dinners more with the hot afternoons we're having. I'm thinking about patio breakfasts too, when the weather is still fresh, before leaving for work.
Kids said they would put blue shirts on, to honour the soccer team. They made little blue-white-red flags. Funny.
TADAs
some house cleaning
take pic of school supplies lists for September, put away school bags
bake pizzas for tonight (home baked this time)
find a way to keep kids busy before start of the soccer 8th-final at 11pm
TODOs
prepare pop corn in little bowls
enjoy nice soccer (hopefully)
have kids brush their teeth during the break
remember to start dishwasher !
bed early
