The Silver Appleyard is a British breed of domestic duck. It was bred in the 1930s at Priory Waterfowl Farm near Ixworth, in Suffolk, by Reginald Appleyard, an expert poultry breeder. His aim in creating the breed is described in a leaflet he put out after the end of the Second World War: to create white-skinned duck with a wide, deep breast, which would also be beautiful to look at and would lay abundant white eggs.

By the time the pamphlet was issued, his birds had won prizes at the Dairy Show in London and at Bethnal Green. In 1947 a pair of Silver Appleyards was painted by the animal painter Ernest George Wippell.

Appleyard worked on the development and stabilisation of the breed until his death in 1964, but never produced a standard. The appearance of his original stock is unknown when the Silver Appleyard standard was drawn up in 1982, it was based on Wippell's painting.

Today, the Silver Appleyard is a compact duck of medium length, with a broad and rounded body. The bill is broad and of medium length; it is yellow with a dark bean, somewhat more greenish in the drake than in the duck. The legs are yellow, the eyes hazel. Body weights are in the range 3.2 to 3.6 kg for ducks, 3.6 to 4.1 kg for drakes.

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday!

Helia and FFB, THANK YOU for your prayers. I'm happy to report that I had a very quick chat with DF CW yesterday, and the transition went very well.

Just a quick CI as we have to leave for church 30 minutes earlier than usual as DF PM is picking us up.. Hopefully BBL!

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

kittykatt, thanks for the start. Glad to read your DF's difficult day went well. As for ducks, I probably won't remember the names from the weekly titles (especially as the English names won't be of much use to me in French) but I am more aware now of very different birds.

Gma, you do so much in a day. WTG de-humidifying your DM's house. And good luck on the filing, if I don't "see" you today.

Doggedly I hope you're enjoying a good night's sleep with not too much heat.

Sunny Sunday, fresh air. France won against Paraguay - a very difficult soccer game, not very nice play from the Paraguay tem, a lenient referee, it wasn't an 'enjoyable' game after all. We went to bed around 1.30 am so I expect kids won't be up early. It's 9.30 am already.

TADAs
started the dishwasher (we forgot last night)
prepared a few maths activities for the kids to do this week (trying to make them fun activities!)
checed email and news

TODO
drink my cup of tea
eat something
decide on some productive things to do while the house is quiet

L.Ann sorry the night ended with thunderstorms and no electricity. It seems the weather is very hot during the day in the US right now ?

Trying to convince the kids to have a shower before we have dinner on the patio. MrNG spent maybe two hours sorting and decluttering the garage storage, bless him. I did some basic cleaning, entertained the kids for awhile - they had less than 2 hours of screen time today, so that's good (according to my standards anyway), especially as the afternoon was very hot for awhile.
MrNG will look after them during the week while I'm at payroll, I know it can be hard on him. On Tuesday they both go to daycare and he has a consulting mission. DS7 has a tennis practice every morning this week. Apart from that, hopefully there won't be too much screen time  .

Dinner is ready for the oven, I need to set a few things up for the week, vacuum upstairs bedroom.post my weekly list, make plans to have birthday presents for DS7-almost8 next weekend. And relax and bed early, hopefully.

TADAs
was a bit productive
had some time with my sons
good lunch
prepared good dinner
and leftovers to pack for payroll lunches
some basic cleaning (vacuumed downstairs, time in bathroom, time in my bedroom)

TODO
bake dinner
have dinner on the patio
set things up for the week
post weekly list
relax and bed early - kids probably won't sleep early but maybe I will

Hi, all. Thank you for starting us off with another pretty duck, Kittykatt. I'm glad that you found a lift to church.

Thank you, FrenchFly. It was so nice and cool last night that I was able to sleep with the patio door open and the air conditioner off. Today it's just normal summer heat for us (high 20's). It sounds like you have a nice summer break lined up for your boys. Dinner on the patio sounds lovely.

Hi, L.Ann. Looks like a quieter day for you and DD33.

Sunday
Cleaned up after dog
Put away dry laundry
Rearranged duvet cover on drying rack to finish drying
Brought out the last of the tshirts to finish drying
Cleaned up after dog
Dog peed on the floor. Washed that part of the floor.
Put away dry dishes
Heart pill for dog
