Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Magic Flute follows Prince Tamino, who is tasked by the Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter, Pamina, from the sorcerer Sarastro . Accompanied by a bird-catcher named Papageno , Tamino soon discovers Sarastro is wise and just , and the Queen is the true villain . The pair successfully complete a series of trials to find love and enlightenment.

The story unfolds in two acts with a magical mix of song and spoken dialogue :

Act I: Prince Tamino is attacked by a serpent and rescued by the Queen of the Night's attendants. The Queen shows him a portrait of her daughter, Pamina, who has been abducted by Sarastro, and Tamino falls instantly in love. Armed with a magic flute and an enchanted sidekick (Papageno, who receives magic bells ), Tamino sets off on his quest . He discovers that Sarastro is actually a benevolent leader, and it is the Queen of the Night who intends to manipulate them .

Act II: To win Pamina's hand and join Sarastro's enlightened brotherhood, Tamino and Papageno must undergo a series of sacred trials, including a vow of silence. Despite interference and manipulation from the Queen of the Night, Tamino and Pamina triumph over the elements of fire and water . Papageno, having failed his trials, is ultimately rewarded with his true love, Papagena. The Queen and her dark forces are vanquished, and reason, virtue, and light prevail .

I did not get here yesterday. It was a full day! Basically: church in the morning. A lot of payroll as tutoring a 12yo boy for 2 hours is more daunting to me than teaching a group of educated adults how to write an essay. I looked for and set up several internet/ game-y resources. And the evening was spent with Sunday dinner people: M, the Cs, and our girls. And Raven and Fable - 2 puppies as well.

- 10-11:45 church service
- WF run
- lunch
- MBR fleece blanket: w d put back on bed
- payroll: found lots of websites to use with 12yo boy
- payroll: prepped for tutorial today
- made the bed
- quick spiff of main bathroom
- M cooked for Sunday dinner! 8 of us plus her houseguest = 9 people! + 2 puppies
- Sunday dinner here 6:15 - 9ish
- after dinner clean up
- payroll: updated gradelink week 1
- payroll: started grading HW1
- chat with M's houseguest
- duolingo
- updated health apps

I saw The Magic Flute when I was 13, Kitty. My dfriend from school was a talented musician, and he auditioned - and was chosen - to perform in it -- in a big city a few hours away from home -- at age 13. My mother and I traveled one day to see him perform. His voice hadn't changed yet, and that was important to his role. He went on to study music at university. -- I hope you can stay cool in the heat. Did you go for a walk yourself earlier in the day?

Today - it feels like a Monday. I wish I had another day to my weekend - but I already had 3. Today I start my busier work schedule with a 2 hour tutorial (actually, more like 1:40) with a 12yo boy 11-1 and then my own advanced grammar class 1:40 - 3:30. I'll plan to leave for work a little earlier, 10:30, and I'll bring a lunch. I'd like to get in some exercise - maybe a jog in the neighborhood if I have time this morning? Or the gym? Or a short warm jog this afternoon? I have no idea what is for dinner, so a trip to WF might be in order as well.

M has a houseguest until Tuesday. . . So, there's another person in our house. We won't interact with her much. M is really hosting her. But we can't ignore her when we see her. . .

Next:
- some qt
- payroll: finish grading HW1
- payroll: prep for AAS D2

Later:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- finish reclaiming the kitchen
- make the bed
- what's for dinner? (from the freezer tonight?)
- make a lunch
- 10:30 gather everything and otd to payroll
- 11-1 payroll: tutor 12yo
- lunch
- 1:30 - 3:30 payroll: teach AAS D2
- do I need to go to WF?
- a bit of down time
- exercise: jog? (hot but OK for very short jog) or gym?
- dinner: main TBD + green salad
- after dinner clean up
- 8:30 zoom call with ds and F??
- duolingo
- update WW and MFP
- other things?
- pay snail mail bills x3?

TaDas!
- up; weighed self
- dw 2/3 emptied
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website - high of 82F (27.8C) this afternoon (not too high)

Good morning and thanks for the start Kittykatt:)
Great theme! Looking forward to the other operas. We can hum as we are working.
Kittykatt - you summed it up right: a fun week with a lot of work. I am thankful that I'm able to do it.
I'm wishing you pleasant temperatures. It's hard to do anything in the heat. Humidity makes a BIG difference.
Thankfully, we are back to pleasant temperatures. (Cloudy today)

helia is Raven a black lab?
(My DGD is fascinated with ravens and crows)
2 hours one on one would be more challenging... good idea to use games:)
I used to take my oldest DGD to the opera:)

So: I have the morning today.
Must:
walk DDog
feed
cancel appt to podiatrist
clean fridge
shopping list
PUPAs main
PUPAs upstairs

Doable, right?
Any time left will be used for WHB

Off to D2S
take meds
and OTD

kitkat, Raven is a Bernedoodle, much smaller and younger than Fable, a yellow lab, but definitely the boss. We are weather twins. It is cloudy and cooler here too.
